The Huntsman Of Death:A Gamer's POV As Side Character

Chapter 27 29:Imprisonment[III]

The atmosphere was stuffy, putrid, and humid. Except for the light coming from a small window attached to the roof, there were no other sources of light, even flame torches.

After the sunset, the place was filled with creepy darkness, but it didn't bother them because the demons had partial night vision, unlike me.

As for food.

It was just a pile of dogshit consisting of half-cooked meat served twice a day. Thankfully, I had hidden my storage ring in the shadow pouch, which carried an ample amount of dry snacks and water.

Gremlin, the slave picked up from the Orc tribe, seemed to be the leader of the small group here.

He made sure that no one fought and unnecessary troubles didn't brew here, thereby maintaining the law and order in this place.

He was certainly a good guy who believed that life was already enough, so why make it difficult for others?

"Brother, this cookie tastes nice," a blonde-haired demon kid spoke as he munched over the snacks distributed to others.

"Chris, don't finish all that in one go."

"Hey, don't disturb the counting," Gremlin grumbled and hit my forehead.

"96…"

"97…"

"98… You can do it, Lukas… You can do it…"

"99…"

"100… BANG!"

With a loud noise, I slumped down on the floor, making the Gremlin sitting over me stumble to the side.

Doing pushups with this bulkhead weighing almost 100 kg was quite deadly, but thankfully it helped.

Meanwhile, Saber, who crouched down beside me watching me do all kinds of exercise and use people as training spares, asked, "I don't understand why you are taunting us to train and stay fit.

"Why do all those cumbersome things when you can laze around? After all, who can guarantee that life will be peaceful after we are sold, so why don't we relax now?"

I raised my eyes to look at the frail guy.

In the game, he was the guy who looked like a demon. I mean in general biblical terms where demons exist as evil forces.

He was cruel, brute, and sinister to the point that priests, clerics, and templars found it hard to go near him as his presence was enough to suffocate them due to the intense smell of bloodlust he carried.

At present, he looks quite sane despite his gruesome childhood. His father was a demon, and his mother was a human who died due to an unfortunate incident.

Demons had evil phases where negative emotions turned them into abominations. Specters used that to turn demons amongst themselves. During one such event, his entire village was destroyed, with his mother eaten right before his eyes or something like that, which I don't remember particularly.

Thinking of that, I had forgotten many background details except for the crucial pathway.

Skipping all the nonsense, before coming here I already assumed him to have a broken mind, but he was still sane. And surprisingly, he hates fighting and exercises to the core.

So, there was something big that triggered a change.

As for what made the change, I already have a guess.

And you may wonder what good this guy is now after he lost his cheat class, but that's where you are wrong.

A person who managed to pass the trial wasn't ordinary in any sense.

You should remember one thing.

Countless people were born with talent, but only a handful were born with a will to suffer.

At the end of the world, the ones who will stand out won't be the ones with the greatest talent but rather the ones who manage to go past the suffering through the ordeal.

It was the same for the protagonist as well as the antagonist and all side characters.

"We need to train to stay active and sharp because we need that if we want to escape."

"Escape? How will we escape? We aren't strong enough to defeat these folks," Gremlin spoke, getting up from his place.

I kept quiet for a brief moment and looked at the small window near the ceiling, just big enough to filter some light for us to see.

"Soon, there would be an opportunity."

"An opportunity? What kind of opportunity?" Saber and Gremlin asked.

"It is an opportunity for us, but for others, it might be a crisis."

'Yeah, a deadly crisis.'

.....

Not far from the edge of Night Creak City, the horizon began to change.

A faint crack appeared on the rugged ground, small at first but slowly growing wider. Darkness seeped out from it, swallowing the light.

The crack split further, and strange, blurry figures crawled out. Their presence made the air heavy, choking the life out of everything nearby. Trees and plants withered, and the greenness faded, turning to black as if poisoned.

From the cracks emerged humongous tentacles, twisting, and writhing as they forced their way out. Behind them emerged a grotesque head, its massive size pushing against the gap. A deep, cracking sound filled the air as it broke through.

Glowing crimson light poured from its face and bathed the land in red as it emanated an intense bloodlust.

With a deafening crack, the barrier shattered, pieces dissolving into nothing. The creature finally emerged, showcasing a monstrous form not of this world. Its shifting body, covered in glistening, hideous scales, clawed its way into existence. A guttural roar echoed, shaking the earth itself.

Not far away, demons watched over their grazing beasts on an ash-covered field. The beasts began to shiver and whimper, their glowing eyes wide with fear.

"What's wrong with them?" one demon growled, stepping forward to strike a trembling creature.

"Wait," another demon said, his voice uneasy. "Something's coming—"

Before he could finish, the sky erupted in crimson flames. A fiery blast hit the ground with terrifying force, turning the field into molten pits. Demons screamed as the fire consumed them, melting skin and bone.

One tried to run but collapsed as his body burnt to ash. The beasts howled in agony, bursting into flames before crumbling to nothing.

Amid the chaos, the monster fully emerged, towering over the battlefield. It seemed to absorb the flames, growing larger and more terrifying. Its glowing eyes locked onto the last demon crawling away, his face frozen in horror.

The creature's shadow fell over him, its tentacles reaching out. The demon's scream was cut short as darkness consumed everything.

The field grew silent, except for the crackling of dying flames and the faint groans of the surviving.

As it pushed forward, a faint spectral silhouette and abyssal monster emerged behind that started spreading the corrosive nature of the abyss.
