The Incubus System Chapter 729. I'm Dead In My Sleep!

The clock ticked over to 08:12 AM. The rays of sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over my room. The soft morning hues painted the walls. Yet, despite the cheerful brightness outside, I found myself clinging to the remnants of sleep.

With a grumpy face and a furrowed brow, I slowly opened my eyes, squinting against the intrusive light. The world seemed too vibrant, too energetic for my liking. I shifted in bed, feeling the morning pressing upon me as if a sleepy fat cat had taken residence on my head.

I lay there, staring at the ceiling, lost in my thoughts. Silence enveloped the room, broken only by the distant sounds of birds chirping outside. I took a deep breath, attempting to dispel the fog in my head, but it didn't work.

"It's a torture... Why did she have to torture me with her story..." I grumbled to myself.

I should be awake tugged at my consciousness, but I reminded myself that this was still a holiday. My plans for the day were simple—I intended to visit Camila and Olivia, and also have a conversation with Mia. But that could wait until after lunch. With no pressing obligations, I reasoned that I deserved a bit more sleep.

With a sigh, I closed my eyes once again. I burrowed deeper into my blanket. The promise of a couple more hours of uninterrupted sleep held irresistible temptation, hoping Puriel didn't come to my dream again.

Just as I was on the verge of drifting back into slumber, the silence was disrupted by the sound of approaching footsteps, stirring me from my drowsy state. Followed the creaking of the door as it swung open.

"Brother, wake up!" Celia's voice pierced through the haze of my half-conscious state, shaking me with relentless determination.

Groggily, I cracked open one eye, peering at Celia through the narrow slit. Her face was a mixture of annoyance and urgency, her hands still clasping my shoulder. I couldn't help but groan in response, burying my head deeper into my pillow.

"Go away, Celia. Let me sleep," I grumbled, my voice laced with irritation.

But Celia was persistent. She shook me more vigorously, as if trying to summon an earthquake under the covers. I groaned again, my patience wearing thin.

"Wake up. Ruby is waiting for you downstairs!" she exclaimed, her voice now tinged with frustration.

'What could she possibly want at this ungodly hour?'

"Just kick her out," I mumbled, my voice dripping with indifference. The last encounter with Ruby had left me questioning her sanity.

"She doesn't want to leave and force her way into the house," Celia reiterated, her irritation clear in her voice and the furrowed lines on her forehead.

I let out an exasperated sigh. Why did Ruby have to be so persistent? just wanted a few more minutes, or hours, of blissful oblivion. Is that too much to ask for?

"Then tell her I'm dead in my sleep," I muttered, attempting to shirk off the responsibility.

Celia shot me a disapproving look, her eyes narrowing in disbelief. "You know that won't work on her," she retorted, her tone laced with annoyance. Her hands started to pull off my blanket.

I clung tightly to my blanket, refusing to relinquish its protection from her invasion.

Celia's persistent tugging only strengthened my resolve. I wasn't ready to face the morning just yet, especially not Ruby and her insanity.

"I don't care!" I grumbled.

"Get up!" Celia persisted, her determination evident as she tugged harder at my blanket. I clung to it with all my might, refusing to let go.

"No!" I protested.

Celia, however, was not one to back down easily. She knew all the tricks and tactics to rouse me from my sleep-induced resistance. And just when I thought she might finally give up, she resorted to a most heinous threat.

"If you don't wake up," she declared, a mischievous glint in her eyes, "I will take your used underwear from the laundry and give it to her."

The mere mention of Ruby sniffing my used underwear sent a chill down my spine. The thought made my skin crawl. I quickly snapped my eyes open and turned to face Celia, my expression a mix of horror and anger.

"Don't you dare..." I hissed, my voice laced with warning. I couldn't believe she would stoop so low, using such a vile tactic.

Celia, however, seemed unfazed by my reaction. Instead, she returned my warning with an annoying smile, her eyes gleaming with mischief and satisfaction. She had the audacity to look smug as if she had just won some twisted game.

"Why not?" she retorted, her tone dripping with condescension. "It makes things easier. You can sleep, she's happy, and I can enjoy my morning without someone constantly asking 'Where is Ethan?'" Her words carried a threatening undertone as if she held all the power and control in this situation.
