Lex suddenly got the feeling like he was about to get pulled into something huge, but for once he no longer resisted it. It was kind of pointless. Previously, Lex wanted to avoid additional problems because he wanted to retreat into the Inn for as long as possible to raise his strength.
He needed to end the Inn's seal previously because he had to break through to the Earth immortal realm, and that was not something he could do within the Midnight Realm. But once that was done, he wanted to go back to sealing the Inn, or at least isolating it as much as possible.
Yet now, not only was the Inn possibly being targeted by numerous organizations - Lex decided it was better to assume it was being targeted and take precautions than otherwise - the addition of the Joint quest put him in a situation where he might be unable to avoid getting involved in problems.
He didn't know for sure what a Joint quest would look like, but the very fact that it was emphasised that it was mandatory told Lex that it was likely troublesome.
