The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1485 1485: The Duke's Household (1)

Rex paid close attention to every single word she said earlier.

And he remembered clearly that those who knew about the Scions were extremely few.

So that begged the question, how did Viora stumble across this information?

Surely, there was only one answer.

Viora couldn't get out of this question without lying since the answer was clear already, she must know a Scion to know this much about the Scions of the Vertex. If she really knew one then Rex could question her intention of approaching him like this.

As far as he was concerned, the Scion she knew might know about him and sent her here.

But she was hesitant to answer.

She was practically told to choose between two Scions—the one she was close with or the one who she met only today and knew nothing about. In hindsight, the answer was clear to her but she spoke of the name anyway, "It's the Saintess, she's also a candidate too. I heard everything from her"

Upon hearing this, Rex nodded his head and pulled away.

He already suspected that it was the Saintess of Purity.

Considering that she has the background to be strong, close with Viora, and also trusted Viora enough to bestow a portion of her power to Viora—she was the most likely suspect. Rex stared ahead at Viora who kept her gaze down.

She seemed to regret saying the name to Rex.

I don't know if she was telling the truth, but I don't think she lied about the Saintess.

She could be a spy but if she was, there's no way she'd yield this quickly. Something is off about her.

But right now, I'll let this pass. So what if the Saintess sent her to spy on me? I'm not in my real body, she wouldn't know how strong I really was. Someone as weak as me—a mere Immortal Spirit, is not worthy of her attention.

Besides, I still need Viora anyway.

Even if Viora was a spy, Rex doesn't care.

Considering that there are other Scions out there that originated from the Spirit Realm and are stronger than him—the Saintess would give no more than minimal attention to him. He didn't need to be worried for the time being.

"I believe you," Rex nodded, his words visibly allowed Viora to breathe easily. "Thank you"

"I'm only doing what I'm supposed to do," Viora bowed her head down further.

Rex leaned back against the sofa, absentmindedly rubbing his chin as he mulled over his next moves. Even though the new information was troubling—it did not alter his plan. He could proceed as intended but be cautious of the other scions

One, they might be hostile but the worst part—they could trigger the System.

Encountering them might potentially trigger a troubling quest.

Another System Relaying Bet Quest at this time would be catastrophic for him.

I just need to achieve what I need to achieve in this realm—and leave. As for learning more, about my situation as a Scion and about the other Scions out there as well as the stages of invincibility, I can do them after I secure the others' safety.

Nodding his head, Rex focused on Viora again.

"I need to participate in the Nameless Dragon Arena tournament," He started, clasping his hands together—and placing his elbows on his thighs in a domineering gesture. "I have no intention of confronting your Saintess but I do want this. Can you help me?"

"You want to marry Princess Davina?" Viora asked in shock.

Rex nodded firmly but the concerned expression she was wearing was troubling.

"Why?" He asked. "Is there something wrong with that?"

Realizing what she blurted out, Viora waved both hands awkwardly, "I didn't mean anything by that"

"No, tell me," Rex demanded. "What's wrong with that?"

"I was only surprised to hear that," Viora replied hesitantly. "The Saintess despised any notion of having anyone to be close enough to make her care. Her family was long gone and she never had any intention to create one. She's the tyrant of the church so I thought all candidates are like that, cold and detached"

"How about the priestesses under her like you?" Rex asked again. "Aren't you her trusted people?"

"Not really…" Viora answered shortly.

She was reluctant to elaborate and Rex didn't push further.

"As for your participation in the Nameless Dragon Arena tournament—unfortunately, I cannot help you," Viora continued, disheartening Rex from hope. "I'm a Priestess of Purity and I can't participate with the empire's matter in any shape or form but…"

Hearing the last part, Rex looked up at her again with rekindled hope.

"I can arrange a meeting with the Aurelius Noble House, even the marquess himself," She continued.

Rex's eyes sparkled, "Good, arrange it as soon as possible"

As soon as she heard that, Viora stood up abruptly, bowed, and ran towards the door.

Rex didn't have any time to say anything as she had already gone outside, presumably to make contact with the Aurelius Noble House. Then, once what he requested settled in his mind, he rubbed his temple, "I did not think this through, what should I say to them? That I want to ask for a favor to be recommended to the Nameless Dragon Arena tournament as their champion? Right, as if that'd work,"

"I think it'll work," Linthia suddenly said from the side.

Once she gained Rex's attention, she repeated, "I think it'll work, you have that priestess on your side"

Upon hearing this, Rex's eyes widened for a second before he nodded.

Having to deal with problems alone, his mind generally went to ways he could solve the problem.

It wasn't his first instinct to search for help.

Viora could vouch for him and the Aurelius House would be pressured to accept to do the favor.

Since it wasn't something outrageous, there shouldn't be any problem.

"Should I try and bring Amanir here?" Linthia asked.

Rex paused for a second before his mind clicked, "Oh, right, I forgot about Amanir and Kraken…"

Meanwhile, countless miles away from the Aurelian Fortress.

Scree!!

Soaring through the clouds imposingly was a massive bird with a long tail, shrouding a great area under its wings. Everyone looked up to the sky—and marveled at the spirit beast. Its entire body was covered in emerald feathers that glistened under the sun.

From its aura alone, anyone could tell that the spirit beast was extremely powerful.

Not to mention, the people recognized the spirit beast almost instantly.

"Look! It's the Celestial Verdant Hawk!"

"Esmeravon? She has returned—the second princess has returned! Let's welcome her!"

Excited to see the hawk, the people waved their hands skyward—welcoming the hawk with warmth.

Riding above it was a woman, Davina.

She wore a light warm smile and waved back at her people.

It was always a pleasure for her to be welcomed like this, she never got tired of this scene.

Davina has come back after doing a preliminary investigation regarding the Arcalen House's destruction.

She has been long gone already and she has no choice but to come back home or else the people might be worried about her safety. Crossing through the land with the speed of the wind, Davina reached her supposed home at the heart of the land.

Looking down at her home, a spacious mountaintop consisting of multiple temples, she sighed.

It was beautiful to the eyes but only she could see a fly on it.

She could see the air surrounding the place was grim, cold, and choking—a stark contrast to its beauty.

But then again, it was understandable.

At this very moment, Duke Lorcan's royal house, the House of Castillon was still mourning the death of the first son who was the crown heir and also the second son at the hands of a new Voidal Monarch that appeared out of nowhere.

Both of them were training inside the Black Rift and got ambushed by this cursed monster.

Naturally, the news devastated the entire house.

Even though it had been years already, the house was still mourning.

And to top it off, the people under their rule doesn't know about their deaths until now.

It was kept a secret as the implication would be a lot to handle.

From the normal people's perspective, the first and second princes were beginning to step out of Duke Lorcan's wings—and fly on their own. Once they came back from their training, they would be a suitable heir that was strong both mentally and physically.

However, that was far from the truth.

Duke Lorcan was still shaken up and hadn't informed the people about this yet.

Despite coming back home, there was no excitement or joy on Davina's face.

Only the tight expression of someone who doesn't want to be here on her countenance.

"Esmeravon," Davina mumbled the hawk's name softly. "Land on the main temple"

Scree?

"Yes, it's fine. I'm going to meet with the duke instantly," She answered resolutely.

Nodding its head, Esmeravon made a sharp turn and dived down to a celestial temple in the middle.

Esmeravon landed on the main courtyard steadily and as it got lower and lower, Davina saw someone was already waiting for her arrival. A woman in a sand-colored dress with long, wavy hazelnut hair that fell to one side.

Once the talons touched the ground, Davina leaped down and landed right in front of the woman.

From a glance, one could instantly tell that these two are sisters.

One retained a cold and youthful face while the other looked more mature and elegant.

Naturally, this woman was Davina's older sister.

She is the first princess of the House of Castillion, Princess Liliana.

Seeing that Davina had come back safe and sound, Liliana smiled warmly.

"Welcome back," She said while opening her arms. "How was your trip? You must've worked hard"

"You're here, sister," Davina greeted and gave her big sister a brief hug—one that lingered longer than intended as Liliana refused to let go. Only when Liliana finally released her did Davina step past her, heading for the grand hall, "Where's Cassian? Did you come alone?"

"He's at the border, I'm alone today," Liliana answered pliantly.

It felt good being home without her husband, she felt that she could breathe freely again.

Both Davina and Liliana walked side by side, stepping into the grand hall.

Unlike the typical closed-door grand halls, theirs was an open, circular chamber, supported by towering spires that formed the building's foundation. Vast and unconfined, it held a single throne at its center, the throne that belonged to Duke Lorcan.

Due to the open design, it allowed a fresh breeze to flow freely.

It carried the fragrance of the countless magical plants that surrounded the hall.

"Vivian, have you checked on her? How is her training progressing?"

"She's still at the Master Immortal Spirit rank, the Duke is not pleased with her at all"

"Where is the Duke, anyway? It's about time for him to handle the land's matters"

As Davina was a couple of steps in, she frowned when she found Duke Lorcan wasn't on his throne.

But before Liliana could answer, her eyes caught sight of a group of people to the left.

Despite the distance, Davina could tell that they were the officials of their lands—their regal attires that commoners couldn't purchase in a lifetime—made their status obvious. Seeing them, Davina tilted her head, "Why aren't they being addressed? Where's the Duke?"

Just then, Liliana stepped into the view and blocked Davina with a knowing look.

"You had only arrived, there's no need to fret about these mundane matters," She said assuringly.

But Davina was having none of it.

Swoosh!

A pulse of life energy exploded from her body, passing through walls and encompassing the entire peak.

Liliana could only sigh helplessly as there was no avoiding this.

Davina scanned the entire mountain peak and noticed a familiar aura nearby right beside Duke Lorcan's aura. Almost instantly, Davina's expression turned grim, "She's here…?" She mumbled and glanced at Liliana. "I told the duke—that in under no circumstances she can come here"

Gritting her teeth, she immediately stormed off.

Liliana tried stopping her but she couldn't, "Ah… Here we go again,"
