The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1510: Forsaken Tower (2)

As the gate was opening, countless holographic screens appeared.

Rex could already see countless stat windows of the Voidal Monsters on the upper floors.

Hundreds, thousands, so much that the entire upper floors were flooded of them.

And from that, he could tell that this was going to be a hard battle.

Then, as the view beyond was displayed, his eyes dilated and his senses alerted him of an incoming.

"Brace for impact!"

Crash!!

Out of nowhere, a forceful torrent of energy, dark and cold, descended from the upper floor and struck Rex and the others hard. It wasn't crushing, but this forceful torrent directly impacted the soul, knocking life energy out of their bodies.

"Huaahk!"

"Oh, no!"

Upon hitting the fifth floor, the gush of energy settled harshly and spread throughout the chamber.

It was strong enough to deactivate the soldiers' Soul Artifacts for a brief second, and pushed many of them out of the windows. Rex, who was able to anchor himself by stabbing his claws into the floor, saw the soldiers being blown away, but couldn't do anything about it.

He would also be dragged with them if he tried.

As the gush continued, he noticed something surprising.

Other than the soldiers, some of the Voidal Monsters on the upper floor were also blown out.

Rex glanced out of the window and saw a dark tide forming, and the Mahkam Ruin's bubble in the distance flickered and dimmed. The dark tide wasn't caused by the Singing Lady or the Voidal Monsters here. It's because of the tower. But what is this mechanism for? It's pushing everything inside of it, out!

Despite this confusion, he still commanded the five Voidal Knights he controlled outside to be ready.

Like the rock against the wave, those five had to fight back the dark tide.

But knowing that it might be hard for them, Rex decided not to reserve his items and go all out.

Aoouu!!!

Swoosh!

Rex wasted no time using the Silverstar Howl item.

He has six of them, one that he held onto for quite some time, and five from the achievement earlier.

A forceful life energy, separate from his reserve, surged inside of him and instantly climbed onto his mouth. It forced him to partially morph his face into a muzzle and howl, creating the soundwave that forced the ten Voidal Knights to howl and experience a surge of power.

Similar to the Master Hunter Pack passive skill, this howl would give a boost to them all.

It was only temporary, but it should be long enough.

Meanwhile, on the border of the Mahkam Ruin's bubble, Grant pointed his tribal sword skyward.

"Prepare the shield!!" He shouted.

Coming from the same bloodline lineage—the people of Mahkam Ruin have similar Soul Artifacts with one another. Among them was the Mahkam Shield, a defense-type Soul Artifact shaped like a wooden, square-shaped shield.

All of the people who possessed that Soul Artifact immediately stepped forward.

Summoning the shield on their right hand, they then planted it onto the ground.

Then, their life energy converged into one, creating a massive shield that stretched far and wide.

It was their first line of defense against the dark tide.

Grant nodded his head and gazed ahead—waiting for the dark tide to come, but then, a massive Voidal Monster that walked like an ape but had wolf features landed right in front of them, right outside of the bubble.

Aoouu!

Surprisingly, this Ape-wolf creature howled, and its aura surged higher.

"Grant, look! There's more of them!" One of his warriors pointed to another direction.

And as he said, there were more bizarre-looking Voidal Monsters—howling toward the sky.

"What are they…? And what are they doing standing in front of us?" Grant mumbled in confusion.

Even though Rex had done it openly, and the screeches of the Voidal Knights being turned into one of his own could be heard throughout the ruin, it didn't seem like Grant saw what really happened. Some soldiers were on the way, so it's hard to see.

But for some reason, he thought of Rex when he looked at them.

Just as the dark tide approached, these Voidal Knights became rampant, roaring wildly.

Almost instantly, they used their Spirit Genesis, which were all glistening with a silvery hue, no matter if they were attack, defense, or support Spirit Genesis. And then, despite the danger, they confronted the dark tide and protected the people behind them.

Crash!

Grant covered his face with his arm to endure the impact and shockwave, and so did the others.

Then, as he peeked, he saw the Voidal Knights fighting the other Voidal Monsters within the dark tide.

It was a surreal sight, these bizarre-looking monsters were protecting them.

And surely, he could assume the person behind this.

"You can do it, Lord Rex…" He mumbled inwardly. "Please, you have to pull this off!"

Back at the tower, the dark tide came to pass.

Rex stood up straight once again and checked the army, only to find more than half was blown away.

All of them should be climbing back up the tower once they recovered, but at this moment, there were only about a quarter of them left. Fortunately, none of the main individuals were blown away. Only Taylan and Riko were almost blown away, hanging by the edge of the window.

But Hannah caught them with her elongated hair at the last second.

Snapping out of his trance, Rex immediately dashed at Viora when he found her sitting on the ground.

Throughout the chain sudden quest, Viora was one of the people that Rex couldn't afford to lose.

In case of an emergency, he could sacrifice the heirs, but not Viora.

So naturally, he was worried about her.

"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Rex asked, checking whether she was hurt anywhere.

But even as he checked every nook and cranny, Viora didn't respond.

Her eyes were fixed, staring above.

"I think you have something more important to worry about," She mumbled lightly. "Look above you."

Upon hearing this, Rex paused for a second before slowly turning to see above.

His breath hitched at the sight of what was above him.

"Oh my God…"

"Are those the previous people before us?"

"I never knew a Voidal Monster had a taste for cruelty…"

Rex frowned hard as it seemed his situation was a unique one, as expected.

Beyond the gate, the upper floors were finally shown.

Contrary to their expectations, the upper floors weren't exactly separate floors—there was only a single floor at the very top of the tower. There were floors beneath it, but they were hollow at the center, with a spiraling staircase winding up through the vast gap, leading all the way to the summit.

On the edges of each floor, there are Voidal Monsters, thousands upon thousands of them.

But upon closer inspection, each floor was separated by an invisible barrier.

So it seemed the next floor would only open once the Voidal Monsters at the previous tower were killed.

None of them was overbearingly strong, but they weren't the most shocking part.

Rex, along with the others, glanced at the walls of the upper floors and saw that they weren't normal walls, but stacks of countless open coffins—and each contained a preserved corpse. Each of them came from the previous teams that tried to raid the tower.

"Just what is this tower?" Viora mumbled in utter confusion.

However, from the wall of coffins, this shouldn't be done by the Voidal Monsters.

Rather, the Mahkam Ruin's ancestors made this.

"Regardless of what it was, we should focus on getting rid of the Voidal Monsters first." Rex retorted.

He instantly summoned all three of his Soul Artifacts in preparation to fight.

But he soon frowned when he noticed something.

"None of them are attacking…" Viora muttered as she got back to her feet again.

All of the Voidal Monsters on the upper floors weren't coming down to attack him and the others. All of them only kept their eyes on Rex and the army while staying put on the upper floors. It was worrying to see since usually, Voidal Monsters always attacked people without exception.

It's either that they were protecting the upper floors or something there is something more enticing than us.

No matter, this shouldn't change anything.

Rex fixed his eyes on the summit, the top-most floor that should be another chamber.

The Singing Lady must be there, I can hear the singing coming from there.

Just as assumed, once the upper floors' gate was opened, the singing they were hearing became louder.

Surely, it came from the Singing Lady on the top-most floor.

"Priestess Viora, can you help me lead the charge?" Rex asked without looking at her.

Viora nodded, "I can create a protective barrier, but know that I don't have any attacking abilities."

"No problem. Leave the attacking to me and Crimoria," Rex waved his hand and turned to Crimoria, who was commanding the soldiers to keep in formation. "Crimoria! We're going to lead the charge! We can't afford another dark tide happening!"

"Alright! I'll be right beside you!" Crimoria answered and summoned her Soul Artifact.

It was a translucent cloak of light that cascaded down one side of her body.

Then, Rex turned to Linthia, "You, stick with the formation."

Knowing her limitations, Linthia nodded and joined the formation without much fuss.

Lastly, he turned to the four Voidal Knights he brought with him.

"On my mark," He said, staring each of them in the eyes sternly. "Go berserk."

Roar!!

All of them responded with a roar, excited about what was to come.

Once he gave all of them an instruction, Rex focused on his Soul Artifact mark.

"Spirit Genesis: Perfect Beast…"

Crack!

Almost instantly, the seething green life energy that his body was emanating turned golden, influenced by the Aegis of Moon Sentinel Soul Artifact. Then, this golden energy began to form into exoskeletons, mainly in the form of the upper part of the skull that protected his head, as well as a golden carapace that covered his arms, back, abs, and legs.

It was akin to armor, protecting his vital organs as well as vital motoric function.

Not stopping at that, the golden exoskeleton began to absorb Rex's blood, draining him rapidly.

But Rex didn't care, his regeneration could sustain this much blood loss.

Once the blood touched the golden exoskeleton, it made a bone-cracking sound, hardening rapidly.

As this process continued, Rex closed his eyes and recalled all the reasons he came to the Spirit Realm, to protect the others, to defeat his enemies, to reach invincibility, and, more importantly, to heal Nivellen and save her from death.

Krk!

Soon, anger began to bubble inside of him, turning the exoskeleton's color into a deeper shade of gold.

Taking on the Perfect Beast path, his endurance increases greatly with this exoskeleton.

Once he opened his eyes again, he was ready.

Swoosh!

Rex leaped upward toward the gate while the others followed him right behind.

As he burst through the gate and reached the upper floors, the temperature experienced a sudden drop, instantly becoming chilling. None of the Voidal Monsters lunged at him—so he decided to attack them first.

"Crimoria!" Rex called.

Knowing what he wanted, Crimoria pushed herself with life energy towards Rex and crossed her arms.

Rex used her as a stepping stone and shot at the nearest Voidal Monsters.

Readying his Red Dawn of Kaiser, he swung with full force, but was soon surprised.

Clang!

His claws were blocked by an invisible barrier that protected the Voidal Monsters, which reached to the top like a tube—isolating him and the others at the center. Then, a sweet laughter echoed throughout the chamber that sent a shiver down Rex's spine.

At that moment, Rex could feel his danger sense react towards the laughter.

He looked down and saw the others, including the soldiers already entered the upper floors.

And in that moment, the gate twitched and closed shut with a loud, banging sound.

Like a domino effect, the invisible barrier separating the hollow center—with the staircase where the Voidal Monsters were standing, disappeared. And alongside it, the other invisible barrier separating each floor also hummed and disappeared.

Rex thought that he would only need to handle one floor at a time, but that wasn't the case.

It was an illusion.

He'd be dealing with all of the floors at once.

"Shit, get ready for a bad fight! It's a trap!!"
