Chapter 194: The Battle Begins
Lunchtime (Points + Chaos Value: 5)
The seafood with Insnos flavor served on the table resembled swollen, raw fish that had been irradiated, with some still hopping around or even laying eggs directly on the plate.
Of course, for a certain orphan with a special appetite, this was not a problem at all.
Yi Chen enjoyed his meal immensely. Due to his modified physique, he needed to consume a large amount of food, so even if live fish occasionally slipped into his stomach, the little grapes would quickly bite them to death and eat their eyeballs and related nerves without any worry.
Glancing around the cafeteria, only Yi Chen ate with relish, which drew the chef over to sit opposite him, pulling up a stool.
Although Yi Chen was somewhat bloodthirsty, he bore no resentment towards the chef and had no intention of causing a disturbance in the cafeteria.
...The chef suddenly asked, “Teacher Fang and Coach Pang, who liked wearing shorts, have both been killed, right?”
“Correct.”
“Are you going to do anything here?”
Below the black iron mask, the chef threw a crucial question, with a heavy, oversized hammer resting by his side, ready to accept the challenge from the young man should Yi Chen nod.“No, because I have no reason to kill you.”
“Then what was your reason for killing them? You only arrived at the Orphanage yesterday, didn’t you? You’ve made enemies so quickly?”
“No… I’ve known them for quite a long time, just like I have known you.”
This statement caused the chef to freeze; indeed, he felt an overwhelming sense of familiarity upon first seeing Yi Chen.
“Could you explain the reason in detail?”
Without any hesitation, Yi Chen openly narrated the so-called betting game, memory reality alteration, and the true nature of the Orphanage to the chef, who was emanating warmth.
The chef, being infused with an abundance of advanced information, did not harbor any doubts and even believed the words of the young man directly.
“No wonder I always feel somewhat dissonant while cooking, living as if I’m confined here – so I’m just a figment of your imagination in your brain? What a disappointing truth.”
After popping a struggling little fish into his mouth, Yi Chen expressed his perspective:
“Since you, chef, can exist in this form, perhaps when I grow to a certain stage, I might be able to perfectly recreate you and even establish a new Orphanage under my management, preserving your current consciousness and memories.”
“That would be wonderful~ If such a time comes, please add a few extra positions for me, as it gets quite boring spending every day here just studying cuisine.”
“That’s easy to say.”
As the two chatted leisurely, a loud clicking of leather shoes approached.
A group of personnel adorned with military sabers, batons, modified security uniforms, and berets entered the dining hall,
swiftly surrounding Yi Chen, who was still eating, and Moon Scar, sitting there chatting with the chef, trapping them all within the encirclement.
A total of four people,
all security guards rested their right hands on their waist-mounted sabers, ready to behead at the slightest suspicious movement from the pair.
The current situation meant that the events the postman warned of, the increase in chaos value leading to unexpected occurrences, had now taken place.
“Coach Pang Guishan was killed during class, and the students attending the class accuse you of the crime. Please accompany us to the security department to assist in the investigation; we’ll handle this incident fairly and justly.”
The Captain, wearing sunglasses at the forefront, threw two pairs of handcuffs onto the table, signaling for them to put them on themselves.
“Wait a moment… Such a delicacy should not be wasted.”
After dumping the entire plate into his mouth, Yi Chen showed a satisfied expression.
Folding a napkin into a triangle, he wiped the grease from the corners of his mouth, then casually remarked:
“I admit that Pang Guishan was killed by my friend and me. And there’s something else I need to confess… Fang Qiong, who died last night in the Art Hall, that was our handiwork too.”
By the way, without witnesses, you have no idea who did it, do you? Such inept investigative skills, why does the Orphanage employ you for security?”
Provocation always works well on those high and mighty types.
Four military sabers struck almost simultaneously, all aimed at Yi Chen’s head.
Clang! Sparks flew.
Yi Chen raised his hands above his head, stretching the iron chains in his hands to firmly block three of the sabers.
The fourth saber, swung by the Captain, was caught by the chef holding the arm, forcefully stopping it.
“Chef Li, do you know what you’re doing?”
The head chef’s black iron mask concealed an indifferent face, and he didn’t answer. His other hand grabbed the hammer beside him and directly crushed the squad captain into mincemeat.
Moon Scar also made her move, piercing through one of them and instantly completing the act of opening a skull.
Yi Chen hoisted the iron chains in his hands and brutishly disarmed the remaining two,
then shot the chains from his left and right hands, entangling the necks of the two men. Drawing on the ball-and-chain training from activity classes… Yi Chen, using his right foot as the axis, began to spin in the cafeteria.
In the process of high-speed spinning, the iron chains tightly pulled at their necks. As the speed increased, there was an almost illusory sensation of imminent body separation.
Crack!
He released the chains when he heard the sound of neck vertebrae breaking.
The security guard, now partially paralyzed, was thrown towards the back kitchen, where the staff caught him firmly and used him as fodder, directly feeding him to the livestock area.
“The Security Squad has been annihilated, the Protection Department has been alerted!”
As the broadcast notification rang out, more members of the Protection Department flooded into the cafeteria, numbering a total of over thirty people.
Yi Chen also noticed the leader wearing a black eye mask, who was actually carrying a silver-plated hand axe and a sawed-off shotgun, the very equipment that had been confiscated when he arrived at the Orphanage.
“Equipment directly delivered to my doorstep? How thoughtful.”
Seeing the numerical difference in front of him, Yi Chen tried to do something he had never thought of doing in his life.
Standing on the dining table, he spread his arms wide and shouted:
“All eyes on me!
Fang Qiong and Pang Guishan have been killed by me. The Protection Department, an incompetent group like this, is just an appetizer.
I hereby declare war on the Orphanage… This is your only chance to join. After seizing control of the Orphanage, each participant will receive their share of the reward.”
However,
the orphans who were dining in the cafeteria remained utterly indifferent, not even sparing Yi Chen a glance,
and to avoid trouble, gladly refusing the live fish on their plates, the orphans quickly evacuated the cafeteria area under the cover of the Protection Department.
Not a single person responded to the call, causing Yi Chen to shake his head.
Yi Chen had anticipated this situation in his life. Under the training of the Orphanage, the idea of rebellion had been thoroughly ground away within a month or two.
At most they would only think about the possibility of fleeing when survival seemed hopeless. The weak simply didn’t have the courage to stand against the Orphanage.
Clap!
The head chef suddenly clapped his hands.
From the back kitchen immediately emerged a group of workers wearing animal masks sewn together,
some carrying slaughter knives,
others holding oversized soup pots,
and even one meat grinder who was tied in a spread-eagled position to a giant chopping board and rolling forward.
They all obeyed the head chef’s orders absolutely,
and as a giant pot full of boiling soup was thrown at the security guards, the chaotic fight began.
About half an hour passed.
Yi Chen and Moon Scar, gasping for breath, fought back to back. They had recovered their weapons, and around them were piled the bodies of more than ten security guards. Although they had sustained some injuries, they were inexplicably excited.
The head chef, with one arm chopped off, was leading half of the staff in a ‘thorough cleansing’ of the cafeteria.
“The Orphanage’s Protection Department has been completely wiped out, total points +20, chaos value increased.”
“Catch! These are some good things I made when I had nothing better to do, using offcuts.”
The head chef tossed over two compressed meatballs. Swallowed whole, they immediately restored their physical strength and healed their injuries at a visibly fast rate.
Yi Chen stood at the entrance of the cafeteria and bowed deeply, “I’m sorry to have troubled you. If there is a chance to meet again in the future, I will definitely fulfill our promise.”
What do you think?
