The little monster
The hum of the freezer unit sputtered and died, leaving a chilling silence in its wake. Kai’s eyelids fluttered, then snapped open. A wave of disorientation washed over him, the cold biting at his skin. He sat up, his limbs stiff and aching, and looked around the cramped, metallic space. Beside him, a girl stirred, her long, dark hair a tangled mess.
"Where… where are we?" she mumbled, her voice thick with sleep.
"I don't know," Kai replied, his voice hoarse. "But something's wrong."
He helped her sit up, and she blinked, her eyes widening as she took in their surroundings. "Who are you? What happened?" she asked, a flicker of fear in her voice.
Kai’s gaze fell upon a dusty monitor and a nearby VHS tape. He pressed play, and the screen flickered to life, displaying grainy footage of a chaotic cityscape, explosions, and terrifying, insectoid figures. A voice, strained and desperate, filled the small space.@@novelbin@@
