The overlords, along with the Dean, were staring at Klaus, each wondering the same thing.
"Don't tell me you flew from Ross City to the academy," Old Lu asked, making Klaus smile.
"Unbelievable."
They all could not believe he had actually flown from Ross City, and it wasn't like he was coming to a short-distance place either.
From Ross City to the academy is actually very far, if one might ask. And the path wasn't exactly safe for such a flight.
He was supposed to use a jet equipped with weapon systems and advanced technologies that would allow him to move more efficiently. But a bare flight like that—who does that?
Apparently, only Klaus does that.
"Overlord Dharma, nice to see you again," Klaus said, turning toward the pink-eyed overlord who was scanning him with his piercing gaze.
He is one terrifying spirit master with unparalleled might in the soul art.
"You can just call me Brother Dharma," the overlord, who was now more eager than ever to get close to the brat, said, making Queenie, who was in the back, raise the corner of her lips.
"Then I wouldn't be polite, I guess," Klaus replied, having no problem with that.
"You can also call me Brother Isaac. There's no need to add the overlord," the Overlord from the Austrial Union also offered.
"Me too. Just call me Big Sister Sorrine, and if you ever want to visit the Ice Union, just let me know," Overlord Sorrine also offered, and the rest followed.
Klaus could only smile and accept their offer. It wasn't a big deal, considering they are still the strongest on Earth. Having them as brothers and sisters isn't bad at all.
"Then I will be going now. I still have to complete my Inner Disciple task and climb to the inner section," Klaus said, making the overlords look toward the sect master and Queenie.
"Rules are rules. Though this brat has shown remarkable strength, he must still do the task," Old Lu said with a smile. "Can't show favoritism, now can we?"
"But he is Klaus, someone who can easily take down Tier 9 and even Tier 10 stage experts. Do we really have to let him go through this easy test?" Overlord Dharma said.
"Who said anything about giving him an easy test? This brat was supposed to appear in the academy a week ago, but he chose to take his time, so I have something else in mind for him," Old Lu said.
Klaus could tell he was mixing two different frustrations into his speech. Obviously, the saying that your past deeds will one day come back to bite you in the ass is true.
The torture Klaus inflicted on this particular uncle monk in the past is finally paying off for the bald monk.
"Go and attend to your roommate. After that, come see me. I will hand you your Inner Disciple trial," Old Lu said with a smirk, making the Overlords sigh.
Though Old Lu is just a Transcendent, they respect him a lot because, in battle, Old Lu is someone they cannot underestimate. The bald monk is very powerful.
They call him the Battle Monk for something.
"Then I will be on my way," Klaus said before flying away. He doesn't really care what trial is given to him. He will be okay if it doesn't require him to fight a Tier 11 (Void) beast alone.
"This kid is dangerous," Overlord Mira said, watching Klaus go.
"I know, right? Just looking at him says it all. He is someone even we cannot underestimate," Overlord Dharma added.
They sighed and left, leaving only Queenie and Old Lu.
"What are you planning, old man?" Queenie asked.
"Nothing serious. I will just be sending him to the Blite Mountains. I received reports that three Tier 9 monsters have appeared, and the warriors are struggling to hold them back. Having him take care of them is not too much to ask on his part."
"Are you sure he can handle it?" Queenie faked her question to see if her suspicions were correct. She could tell something had changed about the old monk, and she wanted to know what it was.
"That brat is more dangerous than you think. I can sense it in him. He has already killed many powerful monsters, so this wouldn't be a problem."
He knew Klaus better than Queenie did, as he had been like a father figure to him in the past.
Someone who awakened three forbidden Ice elements and possesses the Demon Bead wouldn't struggle to take down a Tier 9 monster.
"If you say so," Queenie replied. She knew she was right. The old monk was indeed different, and she could tell it was the same for her. This begged the question: who else was like the two of them?
A face appeared in her mind.
Miriam.
She could tell Miriam might be someone like them, considering the prowess she had shown during the tribulation. Right now, her combat strength had risen to a level she couldn't yet fully grasp.
And it was all a result of remembering her past through her dreams. Now, she was stronger than ever.
So, looking at the old monk, she could tell he was in the same boat as her. If he had also reincarnated and now had his memories, then who was to say they would be the last?
'Everything about Klaus is a mystery. Just who is he exactly?' she wondered but chose to let it slide and instead moved back to the academy, where Klaus and his roommate were about to reunite.
Nari had said she would only come out of seclusion when Klaus returned, and now, the bastard who had "abandoned" her was back.
In her heart, Klaus had abandoned her, which wasn't the case, but the Great Calamity in the making seemed to think otherwise.
So, she had been waiting for Klaus for the past few weeks after waking up from her long slumber. Queenie wanted to witness the reunion, and so did Old Lu, who chose to remain as far away as possible.
He knew what was coming and didn't want to become collateral damage.
"Oh shi—"
As expected, when Klaus appeared within a shorter distance of the apartment, a flaming arrow burst out of the door, arriving in front of him.
What do you think?
