Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Little Taotie Learns Kung Fu
“Hey! Ho!” Tao Ti, a tiny figure, stood in a horse stance, her little face flushed red, her eyes determined and spirited, her little fists clenched tight, throwing punch after punch.
The old monk walked up to her, examined her stance, and nodded his head in satisfaction. Seeing her little fists soft and weak, seemingly lacking strength, he gestured to her, “Come here, over to this spot.”
Tao Ti obediently responded and trotted over to a large tree, where the old monk pointed. “Hit the tree with your fists, put some strength into it.”
Tao Ti hesitated, looking troubled.
She remembered punching through the hull of the boat, nearly bringing the director to tears.
The old monk thought she was just scared, “Don’t be afraid! Be brave!”
Tao Ti blinked her big eyes and asked weakly, “If I break it with one punch, will I have to pay for it?”
The old monk was initially stunned but soon burst into laughter, looking up at the sky, “We’ll talk about that if you actually manage to break it!”
“That won’t do, they’ll want me to pay.” Tao Ti wrapped her left hand around her right fist and took small steps backward as the tree in front of her seemed to morph into a beast waiting to swallow her money.
“If you can break it with a single punch, not only will I not ask for compensation, but I will also reward you!”
“Really?”
“As reliable as a steeltrap!”
Tao Ti’s eyes sparkled with excitement. She rubbed her hands together, clenched her fists, and recalled the old monk’s advice about maintaining a stable horse stance and centering her energy. Stamping her feet hard, she let out a loud “Ha!” tightening her fist as if gathering strength.
The old monk couldn’t help but laugh and think: Such a tiny thing, like a sticky rice dumpling, actually thinking of breaking this large tree?
“Crack!” A breaking sound.
Tao Ti’s fist had hit the tree, causing a crack to appear.
Old monk: “…”
The wind howled past, and the tree swayed, ready to fall at any moment!
The old monk snapped back to reality and vigorously rubbed his eyes, fearing he was seeing things due to old age.
Staring intently, the old monk felt entirely overwhelmed.
“Was it really you who did this?”
Tao Ti blinked, looking quite innocent, “Weren’t you watching the whole time? Perhaps… you’re thinking of reneging on the reward?”
The old monk wiped his sweat, astonished by the little girl’s prowess.
“Were you born with such strength?”
Tao Ti touched her belly: “Eat a lot, and you get strong.”
So, it was the superhuman strength that could still grow!
After his initial shock, the old monk quickly calmed down. Having been a monk at Shaolin Temple for decades, he had seen his fair share of extraordinary events and was fairly unflappable.
“What reward do you want?” the old monk asked.
“I want to train in martial arts with the other disciples.”
“Not yet, you need to build your foundation first.”
“Then… then I want some tofu jerky.” Tao Ti had never tasted such delicious tofu jerky in the monastery, even better than meat.
“That’s an easy one!” the old monk beckoned, and Tao Ti eagerly followed him as the pair stealthily walked through a narrow path to the back door of the kitchen.
“You wait here,” the old monk instructed.
Tao Ti blinked and asked, “Are you going to steal something?”
“Shush! Nonsense, this is simply taking, openly and rightfully!”
Tao Ti hesitated, “Taking without asking is still stealing.”
Old monk: “…”
Xiao Bin said this kid hadn’t been schooled, yet here she was spouting profound truths!
The old monk touched his nose, feeling somewhat guilty, “Just wait here, no need to ask more or get involved.”
The old monk sneaked into the kitchen, stealing out with his stomach looking as if it were four or five months pregnant.
“Little Taotie, let’s run!” the old monk grabbed Tao Ti’s hand, ready to flee.
“Hehe, elder brother really is getting more childish with age.” A figure blocked their path.
What do you think?
