Ethan opened his eyes while holding onto Louis. The entire cave trembled violently, accompanied by an ear-splitting roar.

Suddenly, something began surging from deep within the cave. A grotesque mixture of slimy mucus, rough sand, and all kinds of debris poured toward them.

Ethan, Louis, and Theodore were swept away with the trash heap and unceremoniously ejected outside.

No, "ejected" wasn’t quite right. "Spat out" was more accurate—because the place they had been inside wasn’t really a cave.

Louis took one look at the enormous caterpillar and burst into tears.

Ethan barely managed to pull himself together, soothing the child while getting to his feet. He tidied up Louis, whose body was covered in filth, then straightened himself out before turning to Theodore.

Theodore had also just gotten up and, without missing a beat, pointed at Louis.

"If we go together to Briwood Palace and meet Scientist F, we can neutralize the poison in Louis completely. So, come with me to the capital."

"We have scientists at our mansion, too. It’d be better to show Louis to one of them. Why the hell should I follow you, just to end up as a test subject? Do I look like an idiot to you?"

A raging fire erupted in Ethan’s mind. His fury refused to subside.

As long as he could cure Louis’ poison—he would kill them all. Every last one of them. Ethan gritted his teeth hard enough to make them ache.

Theodore scanned their surroundings. The place where they had been spat out was the center of a city. And from the look on his face, he seemed to know exactly where they were.

"Louis doesn’t have much time. Retracing our steps would take too long. It’s faster to get the antidote at Briwood Palace. This place is near the capital."
