Chapter 27 - 27 26 The First Meeting Into the Police Station
Chapter 27: Chapter 26: The First Meeting, Into the Police Station Chapter 27: Chapter 26: The First Meeting, Into the Police Station In a moment of distraction, Qu Tong failed to react in time. A cold gun barrel pressed against her forehead, and her neck felt the constriction of a force, her surroundings locked down by an invisible pressure.
It was spiritual power.
Spiritual power no weaker than S-rank.
“Don’t make a sound, otherwise…” the man’s voice behind her was hoarse and rushed.
Sweat mingled with the thick scent of blood made her involuntarily furrow her brows, and she lightly nodded her head, complying with the man’s intention.
Her special ability quietly seeped through the opponent’s Spirit Barrier, and she soon detected the source of the blood scent.
A bullet had pierced through the protective gear at her thigh, and the wound appeared to have been left untreated, with the bullet still inside, which, luckily, was slowing the bleeding.
Several people in the middle of the street had been surrounded by arriving special forces, retreating slowly towards this shaded area.
The gun in the man’s hands was loaded; he swept it from one person’s head to the last, and said in a deep voice, “Where is your second-in-command hiding?”
At these words, Qu Tong distinctly felt the breathing of the person behind her grow heavier.
“The second-in-command has long escaped from Milan Star. You won’t catch the Liusha Star Group in one fell swoop,” one of them replied defiantly while slowly retreating, his hand trembling slightly with the gun.
Qu Tong: “…”
Fuck, can you stop retreating? If you keep this up, you’ll expose our second-in-command.
Such a pig teammate.
As expected, the man with a thoughtful gaze turned to the hovercar that had stopped on the ground. His powerful spiritual power swept over the area and soon aimed the gun barrel into the shadows at this alleyway’s entrance.
Apparently, the second-in-command behind her knew he was exposed and, tightening his grip on Qu Tong’s neck, emerged from the shadows.
“Put the gun down, or I’ll kill her.”
While speaking, the hand around Qu Tong’s neck tightened further, forcing her head to tilt back.
The brim of her hat fell back, revealing silver-white curly hair in front of everyone, shining in the night lights like wings of a sprite.
A pain shot through Qu Tong’s neck, and a flash of coldness passed through her dark, deep eyes.
The last person who dared to choke me is now pushing up daisies.
However, the person behind her didn’t feel the slightest bit of danger, ordering the man and the special forces to back off.
The few surrounded people seemed to find their backbone, gathering towards the second-in-command at this alley’s entrance.
And the second-in-command, holding her neck as if holding leverage over the others, continued to issue orders, “Put your guns down, or I’ll twist this bitch’s neck.”
Qu Tong: “Big brother, let’s talk nicely, personal attacks are unnecessary.”
As soon as she said this, even the special forces facing her were momentarily stunned, almost losing grip on their guns.
The second-in-command felt insulted and immediately burst into a rage:
“Shut your fucking mouth! Who told you to speak?”
Qu Tong: “…”
Qu Tong’s interjection drew everyone’s gaze to her face.
“Your Highness, we’ve finally tracked down the hiding place of the Liusha Star Thieves Gang. We can’t let them get away easily,” said one of the special forces officers, marked with medals, his voice filled with dilemma as he approached the man.
The man didn’t immediately reply, instead taking in the held hostage. A black mask covered most of her face, only revealing a pair of bright, dark almond-shaped eyes.
Standing opposite, he could clearly see the casual coolness in the girl’s eye, devoid of any fear or anxiety of having her life in someone else’s grasp.
Impatient, the second-in-command said, “Don’t take my words lightly. If you don’t put your guns down, I’ll start by breaking one of her arms. As soldiers, are you really willing to let innocent civilians get involved?”
Qu Tong’s lovely eyes narrowed slightly.
Just so they fell into the eyes of the man opposite who had been paying attention to her.
“General, this…” The special police captain clearly didn’t dare to make a decision on his own.
The man’s expression remained unchanged from start to finish. He slowly lifted his left hand and placed the gun back in its holster at his waist.
Seeing this, the others could only obey and lower their weapons.
The underboss smiled smugly, “At least you know what’s good for you.”
“Let’s go!”
After instructing his underlings to leave first, the underboss began pulling Qu Tong back with him.
They hadn’t retreated more than a couple of steps before tripping over something in the shadows.
Just as they were about to fall together, Qu Tong seized the moment to free herself from the grip around her neck. Her silvery hair flying, she executed a graceful turn and dropped to one knee on the ground, avoiding falling altogether and instead, using the momentum to slam the underboss’s gun-wielding hand fiercely against the ground.
The underboss groaned with a muffled grunt, immediately reaching for the gun by his side.
But Qu Tong was not about to give him the chance.
She swiftly stood up and stomped on the underboss’s wounded thigh, kicked the handgun far away, and did all this in one fluid motion.
“Ahh!” The underboss let out a horrible scream, his fingers stiffened with pain.
The melee was on the verge of breaking out, and by the time the underlings realized what was happening, their guns were either struck by sudden bolts of lightning or overwhelmed by the man’s incredibly fast movements.
Qu Tong had already rolled to safety at the first opportunity.
Seeing the man’s absolutely crushing prowess, she was not surprised in the least.
The Border War God, the Empire’s youngest S-rank Psychic and Thunder-element Ability Awakener, dealing with a few Star Thieves was as simple as crushing ants.
Qu Tong bent down to pick up the ion gun she had just kicked away; it was the same gun that had taken down her hovercar. Aside from the one in Si Yuting’s hands, this was the most advanced and powerful gun at the scene.
Just as she stood up, a voice fell like shattered ice.
“Miss, please come to the police station for cooperation with the investigation.”
Qu Tong’s heart skipped a beat; she hadn’t detected his approach.
The gun that the man had just holstered by his waist was now in front of her.
“On what grounds? I was just passing by and was taken hostage without cause,” Qu Tong replied, her tone calm and unafraid.
She had to tilt her head slightly to make eye contact with the man, who nearly reached 1.9 meters tall.
“Routine procedure, miss. Please cooperate, and if there is no issue, you will be released,” Si Yuting spoke with official indifference, his tone leaving no room for refusal.
Qu Tong pursed her lips beneath her mask and stored the ion gun into her Space Twist. She then followed the special police escorting the Star Thieves onto the hovering car.
Oh, family, who could understand?
Meeting her husband for the first time, and she was taken into the station.
Si Yuting watched Qu Tong store the gun, his eyes flickering slightly, but he said nothing.
He holstered his own weapon at his waist and got onto his exclusive hovercar.
The interrogation was not conducted by Si Yuting personally, but by the special police captain, dressed in black tactical gear, upright and proper, with eyebrows sharp as knife blades, exuding an innate righteousness.
Upon their meeting, he presented his credentials to Qu Tong. She didn’t understand military ranks, but she remembered the name, Feng Haoran.
“Name, age, home address.”
Now, Qu Tong was actually a bit tired. She raised her left hand in front of Feng Haoran, showing her slender, beautiful fingertips and the pale wrist highlighted by a Misty Rain ink-wash empress bracelet, making her hand look even more delicate and lovely.
Feng Haoran stared at the beautiful hand in front of him, momentarily lost.
“Scan it yourself.”
Her clear, cool voice brought Feng Haoran back to reality, and he coughed awkwardly, pulling out his own optical computer to scan her hand.
What do you think?
