Chapter 31 - 31 30 Waiting to be Rich
Chapter 31: Chapter 30: Waiting to be Rich Chapter 31: Chapter 30: Waiting to be Rich Xiang Bin’s grip on the recruitment brochure tightened due to the mockery of the three, causing him to hesitate, but he quickly firmed up his resolve.
True or false, he had to give it a try.
His parents couldn’t give him shortcuts; he had to rely on his own efforts to fumble his way through everything.
Even if it was a gamble, he had to take the first step.
Xiang Bin placed the recruitment brochure in a folder, and said with a firm voice, “It’s none of your business.”
The disdainful jeers of the three still echoed in his ears, but he no longer cared.
He didn’t know, this gamble would bring about a great change for him.

Qu Tong slept like a log on the soft big bed, and by the time she woke up, it was evening again.
She took out her light-computer to check for ships heading back to Star 1757.
Wow!
The next ship passing Star 1757 was in three days…
Speechless…
The transportation was anything but convenient.
Once she had enough money, she would build a large passenger terminal for her own planet and buy a private ship for herself.
In the end, Qu Tong went to the largest mall on Milan Star and bought a flying vehicle.
Watching 2 million disappear from her account made Qu Tong’s heart bleed.
But it wasn’t until she reached the door that she realized a critical problem.
She didn’t have a driver’s license!!
Qu Tong returned to the mall with a face that looked like she had screwed up, and after negotiating with the front desk girl for half a day, she spent 2000 Star Coins to find someone to drive her back.
It had to be said, the flying vehicle was much faster than the ship, much like the difference between a racing car and a bus.
By the time she got home, it was already midnight, and Qu Tong wasn’t sleepy.
She turned on her light-computer and saw a message from Xu An saying that he had found a cultivator and asked her to get in touch.
When she opened her contacts, there was indeed a friend request, which Qu Tong accepted.
It was too late now, so Qu Tong decided to set it aside and contact them tomorrow.
She then turned her attention to studying the Empire’s regulations for flying vehicle operation.
There were two types of licenses: a standard one that allowed you to operate flying vehicles and ships.
The other was a high-grade one, mostly held by special military personnel, which allowed one to operate flying vehicles, ships, and warships.
For the general public, the first kind was sufficient.
But it required going to a specialized planet to take the test, and it couldn’t be completed in just a day or two.
Qu Tong temporarily gave up the idea and decided to consider it when she returned to Capital Star to study.
As dawn approached, Qu Tong went out for her routine exercise and then wandered into the forest, going deep enough to find a small river.
Qu Tong planned to eventually cordon off the area behind the mountain, forbidding the local residents from entering, using it to plant some fruit and raise some animals in the future.
However, she didn’t have the money for now.
Just a Planetary Shield would cost nearly ten million, and there would be ongoing expenses for buying ores for power supply.
In comparison, the million-plus on her account was nowhere near enough for her plans.
Interstellar residents didn’t worry about housing or marriage, but they did worry about the high cost of Spirit Power Potions and the degenerating fertility.
Without worrying about these two things, she had already surpassed 90% of the working class.
Actually, if she didn’t maintain this planet, it would be nice to be a lazy loaf here.
Her last life was so tiring.
But sometimes, gaining was also a form of losing, and she had to strive for more.
She didn’t want to one day, when her secret was exposed, return to that dark, sunless prison.
Hoping her cheap husband could play a bigger role, that his “big thigh” could keep her safe for a longer time.
Qu Tong took a rest by the river and unexpectedly found shrimp in the water.
Without a second thought, she rolled up her pant legs and began fishing for shrimp with her hands.
The water was cool and clear, teeming with lively fish and shrimp.
After twenty minutes of struggle, Qu Tong profoundly realized that without her special ability, she was as good as a useless dog.
She pressed her molars together and said, “Little shrimps, you’ve forced my hand.”
Lush green vines swiftly wove together in the water to form a net that trapped a school of fish and shrimp, which had been happily swimming just a moment ago, leaving them no way to escape.
Qu Tong took out a small bucket from her Space Button, filling it nearly halfway.
The Space Button couldn’t hold living creatures, so Qu Tong had to carry it herself.
Just as she prepared to return, she heard a loud crash, like the sound of a heavy object falling.
After hesitating, Qu Tong still rushed toward the source of the noise.
It was an emergency escape pod.
Qu Tong waited for quite a while, making sure there was no one around before she cautiously approached.
The ground had a crater from the impact of the escape pod, yet the pod itself was unscathed, evidence of its sturdy construction.
Qu Tong stepped forward and brushed away the dirt that splattered over the glass door of the pod.
As soon as she saw the pale face inside, her pupils contracted.
“Shengsheng?”
Qu Tong immediately tried to open the pod door but couldn’t find the mechanism after searching for a long time.
It was then that she sharply sensed something approaching from above.
Qu Tong’s eyes turned cold, and with a thought, several vines shot out, deftly dragging the escape pod off the ground.
With a raise of her bare hand, roots moved beneath the ground where the crater was, and the loose soil filled in quickly, with a 10-meter-tall tree rapidly growing in its place.
New grass and shrubs sprouted, masking any evidence of disturbance and returning the place to its untouched appearance.
Qu Tong hid with the escape pod in a slightly remote area, using the dense trees as cover. She extended her spiritual power to conceal both her presence and that of the person next to her while keeping an eye on the surroundings within a five-mile radius.
After a while, two medium-sized flying vehicles landed in the forest, and about a dozen people disembarked.
Voices carried over.
“Are you sure the person landed in this area?”
“The system’s last signal was indeed pointing here.”
“Search quickly. That woman said, no body, no final payment. People from Capital Star are just f*cking troublesome.”
“Got it, boss.”
“Split up and search carefully.”
Qu Tong’s spiritual power was nearly depleted; there was no way she could defeat so many people head-on.
But the forest was her home turf, and they had no chance of finding her.
After the group came up empty-handed, the leader grew frustrated, “Damn bad luck, we finally land a big job, encounter a cyclone, and that damned woman gets away.”
“Boss, I don’t see any traces around here. Could the signal have been affected by the cyclone’s magnetic field and led us astray?”
“Yeah, that woman’s mecha got shredded by the cyclone. It’s all wilderness around here. Even if she somehow got out, with her mental outburst value as high as 90%, there’s no way she could survive.”
The leader scoffed and after pondering for a while, said, “Check the nearby planets. If we can’t find her, send the footage of the cyclone and the last mental state of that damned woman in combat to the employer. I refuse to believe she could survive with her Spirit Sea in such disarray.”
“After this job, once we get back, we’ll buy a better-performing heavy-duty flier. If it wasn’t for the hefty reward, the flier dragged into the cyclone by that damned woman would have been a total loss.”
The dozen or so people cursed as they boarded their vehicles and left.
Watching the shrinking specks in the sky, Qu Tong resolved to address the entire planet’s security issues first thing when she had enough money.
What do you think?
