Chapter 2905 Antithetical Compatibility
2905 Antithetical Compatibility
While the Martial Sages of the Britannian Empire were locked in a brutal frontal war with powerful dragons, the Martial Sages of the Nest of Terra found themselves in a rocky, barren landscape.
One that was devoid of any organic life.
There was even the slightest ounce of vegetation or other flora. There wasn't even the tiniest insect or critter scurrying about its surface.
And yet, the Martial Sages of the Nest of Terra were profoundly alert as they adopted a close-knit formation that covered all their blind spots. They stood, almost frozen, with a grim, dark expression as they beheld the vast, empty, barren land.
And yet, they could sense it. They could sense the life they were unable to directly distinguish.
Powerful presences filled up the entirety of the region.
They could tell that they were being watched.
It was an eerie feeling.
One that they couldn't help but take unpleasantly and with the utmost seriousness, instinctively banding together in the case of an impending attack.
They were exactly right.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
They widened with shock as the earth rumbled and quaked, erupting with a fierce momentum and power.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
They gritted their teeth, barely evading and defending the impending attacks with gritted expressions. The Nestforger, the peak Sage of the Nest of Terra, manipulated the very fabric of earth as he unleashed a monstrously powerful domain constructed earth to crush the erupting attacks.
And yet, the very earth and land he had grown up learning to manipulate refused to heed his command. It rebelled.
RUMBLE!!!!!
The world shook as the very land shifted, as mounds of earth slowly emerged from within the depths.
The Martial Sages shook with shock as they understood what they were dealing with.
"Golems…" Sage Kyria whispered with a stunned tone.
Not just any golems.
The most powerful golems in the entirety of the Beast Domain.
Their bodies rose and grew larger and larger as they emerged from the depths of the earth beneath them. Sand and gravel spilled from their body as massive chunks of rock banded together, forming enormous bodies.
Entire tectonic plates shifted to forge their bodies.
"Stellar Golems…" the Terrampager gritted his teeth with a grim expression.
The most powerful class of golems ever recorded by the Ecologer.
These golems were called as such because the sheer mass of their bodies allowed them to have their own gravitational fields.
As a result, they were rounder than most golems.
The Martial Sages watched with grave expressions as massive continents and tectonic plates worth of the rocky golems emerged from the depths of the endless barren land that they found themselves within, each larger than the next.
What they didn't realize, however, was just how large they could get.
RUMBLE!!!!!!
Their eyes grew grave as the very land beneath their feet began violently shaking as the very fabric of space and time curved under the weight of the new creature.
The very landscape as far as the eyes could see curved, bending under the weight of what was large enough to be its own celestial object. The entirety of the region under the Martial Sages rose with a slow, yet unstoppable rise.
"This…" Sage Kyria whispered with shock. "This is…"
The Nestforger's expression grew severe.
"This is a moon."
That day, in the depths of Gaia, a moon emerged.
They could feel the gravitational field of the moon golem that had emerged from the depths of the land; the single most powerful and largest monster that any of them had ever beheld in their entire lives.
It had become the battlefield itself.
What followed was more onslaught than any of the other battles as the Martial Sages of the Nest of Terra not only found themselves in one of the more powerful regions of the Beast Domain, but also found themselves against a set of monsters that had the power to resist their specialty.
RUMBLE!!!!!
The world shook violently as the golems launched an onslaught of attacks against the Martial Sages of the Nest of Terra. An enormous volley of rocks and earth was launched at the Martial Sages with a fearsome velocity, threatening to crush them under the sheer weight of the attacks.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
The Martial Sages gritted their teeth as they unleashed all their power into earth-bending to protect themselves from the barrage of attacks. And yet, their earth-bending was sluggish and slow in this environment, preventing them from dishing out their full power.
The earth was alive.
Sentient.
And it fought back against their every effort to push back.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
"Rrgh…!" the Terrampager grimaced as he was blasted away by a heavy, destructive attack that flung him away. Many other Martial Sages didn't fare too well either, struggling to keep up in an environment and opponents against whom they had poor compatibility, leading to a losing battle from the get-go.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
"Arh!" Sage Kyria gritted her teeth as an onslaught of attacks ravaged her from multiple quasi-Transcendent golems that ravaged her with an endless slew of attacks one after another. Each attack was devastatingly powerful, inflicting great damage.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
A hurling meteorite blasted into her, flinging her away as she grew buried under the a swarm of rock attacks that never seemed to end. Even as she manipulated earth, to defend and fight back, the lags in her earth-bending stifled her reactions from being as impactful and timely.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!
With each passing moment, she bore an enormous amount of weight and pressure crushing down on her. Despite being a high-grade Sage, she simply didn't have the power to handle such a large number of quasi-Transcendent beasts that sought to crush her where she stood.
With each passing moment, an increasing number of wounds emerged across her entire body.
The other Martial Sages of the Nest of Terra didn't fare too much better either. Having had their primary weapon be so perfectly capped, they were left profoundly weakened, forcing them to fight a long, difficult battle just to avoid being wiped out.
