Chapter 285: Chapter 284 Lu Mian, I Think You Are Bullying People
Caller ID: Director Qimo.
Lu Mian casually glanced at Han Jin, then at Principal Zhang, hesitating whether to answer or not.
Han Jin snorted with a stern face, “Answer it. You were so decisive when pulling out your phone, so why hesitate now? Even you, Lu Mian, have moments of indecision. Feeling guilty, are you?”
As he spoke, Lu Mian only felt her eardrums ache.
Guilty of what? She had nothing to feel guilty about.
She swiped the green button, answering the call with poise.
The cultured man’s voice came through the receiver, very familiar, “Where are you? Knocked on your door, no one answered.”
Principal Zhang, standing close to Lu Mian, couldn’t make out the conversation clearly, but found the distinct and exceptionally pleasant voice strangely familiar.
Lu Mian’s lips curved slightly, “In the school cafeteria.”
Unaware, her tone had inadvertently become gentle and soft, “Is there something you need?”
“Oh, just checking if yesterday’s calligraphy and paintings were hung properly.”
“…” Lu Mian chuckled, slowly exhaling a proper “Yes.”
Han Jin’s temple twitched. Was this still the defiant Lu Mian?
What else had happened during her time at Kunpeng High School?
Principal Zhang innocently implied: I don’t know! I really don’t!
On the other side, Xiao Qimo sat at the computer, Bluetooth earpiece in place, hands on the keyboard, busy with some task. Yet, his tone remained relaxed and elegant while speaking to Lu Mian, “Are you eating at the cafeteria today?”
“Ah, not really eating.” Lu Mian silently put down her chopsticks, pushed the turntable on the round table, and the dishes slowly spun toward Principal Zhang.
A lunch without a burger didn’t count as a meal to her.
Han Jin: …
Principal Zhang: …
The man on the other side laughed good-naturedly. Despite the tap-tapping of the keyboard that came through the receiver, he said leisurely, “I haven’t eaten either, bring me something back.”
Lu Mian’s response came quicker than her thoughts, and a prompt “Okay” slipped out.
Having agreed with Director Qimo, it was time for her to leave. She put down her chopsticks, waved at Han Jin without a trace of sentiment, and walked away.
Han Jin’s face twisted, clearly reading “I’ve been abandoned.”
“You’re leaving now?”
Principal Zhang also kept hinting, “Student Lu Mian, Director Han came specially, turning down other meals.”
Others struggled to invite Director Han, yet there was Lu Mian, dismissing the big shot who had joined her for a meal without a second thought, ready to leave.
And the worst part, the big shot indulged her!
Lu Mian turned to give Han Jin a glance, touching her chin in feigned distress, “Do I need to keep him company for the meal?”
“…” Han Jin, breathless with indignation, gestured wildly, “Go on, go on!”
He still didn’t know whom she was off to meet!
And so, the cosmically indifferent Lu Mian really did walk away.
“…” Han Jin stared as she reached the door and called out, “Hey, what are your plans recently? Just staying at the school?”
Principal Zhang on the side: That tone of disdain, I feel the shade…
Lu Mian turned back, her smile as light as a breeze, everything as fleeting as smoke, “I’ve promised someone to compete in a physics contest, and I have to secure a recommendation spot.”@@novelbin@@
“You?” Han Jin was speechless, unsure what to criticize.
He felt Lu Mian was simply toying with him.

After leaving the school, Lu Mian hailed a cab from the school gates and headed to MM Ji Restaurant. She remembered Xiao Qimo was quite picky about his food; he probably wouldn’t be accustomed to the cafeteria fare.
During the ride, her phone rang again.
Lu Mian felt her popularity was soaring today—not only online, where the buzz was already high, but one phone call after another offline as well.
What do you think?
