The more they oppose, the more it shows that I am doing the right thing

Chapter 562 - 310: Radiant Goddess: Where's My Daughter?

In an ignored corner, Merlin's gaze had nearly died.

"I haven't offended any of you."

In fact, he hadn't really let his guard down; he had merely been caught in a loop of working several shifts at the end of his workday. Then this kid, An Su, casually said a few words to him, and finally, he just witnessed this scene.

He was already nearly a hundred years old, an adult who had experienced many trials and changes of the years. Naturally, he wasn't so easily upset. In the mature eyes of Merlin, these kids were just playing boring and meaningless games. Merlin was a cold man, and such trifles obviously wouldn't upset him...

"I refuse, Miss Luojia."

"The magic experiment has ended."

An Su still expressed his refusal, turning back to look at Miss Luojia—in fact, he couldn't see, so he also couldn't see the Little Saintess's snow-white eyelids drooping down; her cheeks turning pink like the evening glow; he couldn't see her pressing her lips together, thin as cherry blossoms; nor could he see her tiptoeing, her tender fingers trying to pinch the hem of An Su's clothing.

But An Su could hear the thumping sound of a heart beating, so he knew Miss Luojia was right behind him.

"I'm too lazy to indulge you,"

Mr. An Su, the Blessed Son, never lied. He clearly refused, "There's no point."

Well done!

Merlin clapped happily, His gaze on An Su filled with satisfaction. Worthy of being His beloved pupil, that's how you firmly refuse boring women. What fun is there in women compared to magic? They just slow down our recitation of spells. We saints would never fall into the trap of a Saintess!

"....Cheapskate."

Luojia bristled a bit, glancing at Luo Xiaobai, who was proudly perched on An Su's shoulder. Just a small cat. She let go and didn't want to look at this annoying guy anymore.

Her face turned cool as she said, the tone also chilling, "That reason scores zero, Mr. An Su, it's a failing grade."

"But indeed, you don't need to be charmed by me—"

"Because it's meaningless, Miss Luojia."

An Su shook his head, his eyes calm as a sky-blue ocean, revealing a serene smile,

"You are already good enough as you are."

Woo... Luojia turned her face away, not looking into An Su's eyes.

She got a bit flustered, her speech and gaze somewhat frantic, her snowy white eyes misty like a light snowfall, "You... you're cheating! You... you're playing foul!"

Merlin, observing this scene, finally felt his settled heart become suspended again.

An Su, you unfilial disciple. Betraying your teacher and ancestors of that sort, I could slay you a thousand million times and it still wouldn't be enough, ahhh!

Why hasn't this damn Crown Title charm ended yet!

An Su is indeed the most evil being in this world!

Merlin struck his palm angrily, His gaze on An Su filled with fury. You this disgrace, have already abandoned the path of the Holy Light, the inheritance of the Holy Light, your future in this life has already run its course.

This disgrace doesn't even understand what the Holy Light is, what the Holy Light Church is, why the Holy Light should be called Holy Light—

According to the annals of the Radiant Goddess, it is said that the Holy Light Church was founded during the 'Dark Era.'

At that chaotic dawn, with ruin waiting to be reborn, Sages and Mages from tens of thousands of years ago discovered the primal Radiance that could dispel the darkness. They offered prayers to that Radiance and received blessings, ultimately overthrowing the reign of the Outer Gods and establishing the inaugural prototype of the Church. Yet, they could not settle on a name for this Holy light.

They were at an impasse for decades, and the Sages and Mages all remained single, becoming older bachelors.

Therefore, they unanimously decided to call this Holy light 'Leftover Light.' The first generation of the Church, comprised entirely of old bachelors, was thus dubbed the Leftover Church.

Back then, the Goddess was respectfully known as the Leftover Goddess by Her Followers.

After the Dark Era ended, the age of the Great Leftover Light began, and over the subsequent tens of thousands of years of evolution, through generations of inheritance, the Sacred Light finally replaced the more classy name of Leftover Light.

Merlin was a devout follower of fundamentalism. After years of studying alternative histories, there was no doubt—Holy Light was but a scarce branch of Leftover Light.

This history, long and venerable, filled with cultural spirit, worthy of praise and tears, had been forgotten by the junior An Su. He had already been blinded by a woman, betraying the sacrifices and tears of the ancestors, abandoning the primal path of the Leftover Light.

Such an Esoteric Sect Follower deserved to be put on the pyre!

Merlin was defending his faith, with a just cause, for the sake of the path, and it definitely wasn't because he was upset!

"Why do you say I cheated?" An Su was a bit dissatisfied. Being a Sigma man, he never cheated, "How many points does that reason get?"

"Thirty, because you're lying."

Luojia made a face at An Su, speaking indignantly, "You can't even see me. Cheater An Su, the examinee."

"I'm too lazy to lie to you." An Su couldn't be bothered to explain to Luojia, "The Blessed Son doesn't lie—you know that very well, harsh examiner Luojia."

"That scores fifty." Luojia pondered and gave An Su more points. She tilted her head and chuckled, "If you make up more reasons I like to hear, I'll give you a passing grade."

"Can I redeem a passing grade for an egg?" An Su chuckled, ladies first.

"No eggs." Luojia shook her head.

"Then why should I say anything?"

"Because I like to hear it."

"You like to hear lies, knowing they're lies?"

"Because... just now you said you wouldn't lie to me."

"Do you have to believe me if I said it?" An Su scoffed.
