Chapter 536: 445, waiting for my dad to avenge me
Chapter 536: Chapter 445, waiting for my dad to avenge me
Someone spoke up.
All the pirate captains present turned their heads in unison, their gazes falling on ‘Babuzzi’.
As a seasoned pirate captain, Babuzzi felt a pang of panic under the scrutinizing eyes of many.
He said, “I’m not trying to make excuses for her. I can’t be certain whether she’s a spy for the association, but when she came in, she did mention the matter of the Pirate King’s letter.”
Then he added, “Search her Space Ring and see if there’s a letter inside. That will confirm whether the Pirate King recognizes her. Besides, the Iron Barrel Pirate Group roamed the seas way before Gold and Silver Island had any association!”
This statement garnered quite a bit of agreement among the pirates.
The Iron Barrel Pirate Group may have declined, but it had indeed had its glorious moments in the past.
A pirate group with such infamy.
The misdeeds they committed were worse than those of most pirates present, and by the association’s standards, choosing the Iron Barrel Pirate Group was somewhat questionable.
Listening to the discussions below, the Black Dragon Captain looked at Babuzzi, “Which pirate ship are you from?”
“The Flying Fish Pirate Group! Captain Heller.”
The Black Dragon Captain frowned, scrutinizing him, “I’ve seen the Flying Fish Pirate Group; its captain is a very burly and resolute man. When did you change captains?”
Babuzzi touched his chin somewhat awkwardly, “Captain Heller, I had the honor of raiding a merchant fleet with you back in the day. I had a beard back then.”
“It is you indeed.” Black Dragon recognized him and then asked, “Are you sure she just spoke to you?”
“She did, and with her personality and not so sharp mind, I don’t think the association would pick her as a spy.”
On the platform, the captain of the Mad Lion Pirate Group stepped forward and said, “There’s nothing to discuss. I went out of my way to follow the Pirate King’s instructions and capture her. Only, she’s not too bright and came along willingly.”
Philippa’s expression hardened.
She was curious about how she had run into the Mad Lion Pirate Group, not realizing they had been sent to capture her.
But now was neither the time to think about that nor could she afford to admit to it.
She shouted angrily, “You’re full of shit! In the tavern, you wanted me to sleep with you. When I refused, you offered to show me the world, and by the time we got here, you were accusing me of betraying the pirates. You can ask the crew of the Mad Lion; they were all there and can testify for me.”
Whoosh—!
The pirates all looked up at the Mad Lion Captain.
His face reddened, flushed with a rage on the brink of eruption.
Seeing the effect, Philippa continued to yell, “He could easily find a reason to kill me and then find another reason to kill someone else tomorrow. Don’t believe him…!”
Black Dragon waved his hand, and someone immediately covered her mouth.
But even more people were starting to worry; Philippa had mentioned the crew of the Mad Lion, making it hard to say whether there was any truth to her claims.
Pirates don’t hold themselves to very high moral standards.
Seeing the growing unrest below, Black Dragon Captain ordered, “Check her Space Ring.”
All the contents from Philippa’s ring were laid out on the platform: daily necessities, rolling thunder, food, coins, crosbow arrows—a disheveled heap.
Among them, there was a notable quantity of blank envelopes.
On quantity alone, she had received more than the typical pirate captain.
However, the nature of letters is that they disappear immediately after they are read.
There was no way to verify the content of these empty envelopes.
“I’m not a traitor. I’ve raided the association’s ships, my father was a pirate, and I grew up on a ship. They’re framing me. Today they can kill me without any evidence, and tomorrow they will find some random reason to harm someone else,” Philippa managed to free herself from the hand covering her mouth and shouted.
The discussion among the rest of the pirates grew even louder.
Nothing that held water.
Some even started to doubt whether the reasons for killing previous pirates were also fabricated.
At this point, Babuzzi from the Flying Fish chimed in again, “Captains, why not lock up Philippa and the others for now? Their ranks aren’t high, and they won’t be dangerous as long as they are watched. Later, we can have the Pirate King deal with this matter to avoid mutual suspicion.”
The rest began to echo this sentiment.
Whether or not she was a traitor could be decided by the Pirate King later on; for now, just lock her up.
This was more agreeable than an immediate execution.
The faces of both the Mad Lion and Black Dragon Captains darkened.
If they continued with the execution of ‘Philippa’.
Subsequent actions might spiral out of control.
Pirates are notoriously undisciplined, and if they stopped believing in their own leaders, not to mention whether they would obey orders later on, they might scatter right then and there.
After exchanging glances, Black Dragon Captain announced, “Alright, we’ll listen to everyone then. Lock up the remaining few for now, and afterwards let the Pirate King confirm their identities. Take them away and lock them up in the cells of the Black Dragon and the Mad Lion in two groups.”
Philippa didn’t resist, allowing herself to be taken away.
But as she was escorted, she yelled, “Take me to Black Dragon; the Mad Lion will definitely find a reason to kill me.”
“Take her to the cell of the Black Dragon.”
Philippa and the others were led away.
Black Dragon signaled for everyone to quiet down and spoke, “Don’t let these things affect our plans. The island will provide supplies and support, so everyone can go back and get ready. We will depart before nightfall and proceed with the next step.”
The crowd nodded, then left the building.
They returned to their respective fleets to prepare.
…
Beneath the deck.
Philippa was pushed into an iron cage.
Surrounded by darkness, she could faintly hear the moans from the darkness not far away.
The guard locked the cage, commenting, “You’re lucky, actually. You’ve got a chance to live.”
Philippa sat resentfully on the damp straw mat inside, “Hmph, my dad will avenge me, and you’ll regret mistreating me.”
“Cut it out, whether your dad’s dead or alive, he would have to bow down to us, the Black Dragon.”
“Pfft!” Philippa turned her head away, ignoring them.
The guards paid her no further attention and walked away.
And when the entrance door was fully closed.
The entire deck was plunged into darkness.
Only then did Philippa slowly breathe a sigh of relief.
He just felt a chill run down his spine, his legs uncontrollably weakening.
The few spies in front of him had their throats slit just like that.
If it weren’t for ‘Babuzzi’ speaking up for him, he feared he would have met the same fate.
Indeed, traitors would all be punished by the Sea God.
Suppressing the panic in his heart,
he took a couple of deep breaths to calm himself down.
He began to think about what he could do next.
He had to find a way to escape and return to his ship to leave this place.
Then, he would pass the message to Wu Heng.
Telling him to kill those two who had bullied him.
“Truly f*cking unlucky!”
…
Gold and Silver Island.
After testing the Robe of the Hundred Soldiers, Wu Heng had a significant change of opinion about this special item.
Even though it was just a preliminary trial and he had not yet figured out the details of its usage,
he was certain that if used properly, it could produce massive effects.
A first-class merit indeed would not disappoint.
Glancing at the time, it was now approaching noon.
After saying goodbye to Andre Willow, he left the association directly.
He didn’t go home but headed towards the outskirts of the city.
Once he reached a deserted spot,
he took out [The Conductor’s Hat] and put it on his head, and the whistle sounded.
The Phantom Train appeared out of nowhere in front of him.
Boarding the train with Kerim, Wu Heng wrote ‘Lopaz City’ on the travel log.
The train started once more, diving into the void.
Wu Heng found a seat and sat down.
Outside the window was a blur of nothingness flashing by rapidly.
That morning, Imilo had specifically instructed that unless it was necessary, one should not sail out and leave the island.
But after contemplation, Wu Heng decided
that he needed to make a trip anyway.
To prepare for the coming events.
Regarding safety, Wu Heng wasn’t too concerned.
The Phantom Train traveled through a void state, not following traditional sailing routes or paths.
The association’s current enemies were pirates, and no matter how formidable they were, they wouldn’t be able to hinder Wu Heng’s movements.
After traveling for about three hours,
the view outside the window instantly changed, and the train came to a stop, opening its doors.
Wu Heng got off, and the train vanished once more.
Below his feet was a wasteland, and glancing around, he could see the outline of a city far to the east.
‘Lopaz City’ was where he docked when he investigated the Pirate Village from the sea.
It was relatively bustling.
Wu Heng covered his cloak closer and walked directly towards the city.
On the way, he hailed a carriage to take him to the Snake Badge Consortium building.
Stepping down from the carriage.
He put on a mask and entered the building.
Upon arriving at the front desk, he took out a purple-gold emblem and showed it to the clerk, asking “Is Miss Retili here?”
The moment the staff saw the emblem, their pupils constricted.
They immediately saluted, “Guest, this way please, Miss Retili will be right with you.”
Someone went to fetch ‘Retili,’ while Wu Heng was led to a VIP room.
He sat in the room for a couple of minutes.
The door opened, and a female elf, dressed in a red gown with pointed ears and blonde hair, exquisitely beautiful, walked in briskly.
Seeing Wu Heng covered in his cloak and wearing a mask,
she smiled, “Guest, long time no see.”
Retili, the auctioneer from the Snake Badge Consortium auction.
Last time, after the auction ended, she had personally sought him out as the top spender of the event.
She gave him a purple-gold emblem, which represented the highest level of the Snake Badge Consortium and entitled him to many special privileges.
She also mentioned that should he need anything in the future, he could come to her for assistance.
She was the director of the Snake Badge Consortium in Lopaz City.
“Long time no see,” Wu Heng responded.
As they spoke, Retili took a seat across him, her form-fitting gown accentuating her shapely figure.
Then the room door opened once again.
An attendant brought in some tea and fruit, considering Wu Heng’s needs thoughtfully.
After the others left,
Retili asked, “Guest, what can I do for you?”
Wu Heng’s voice came from behind the mask, “I do have a commission I’d like to entrust to Miss Retili to help me collect.”
“Name it!”
Wu Heng said directly, “I need the corpses of level 15 alchemists and mechanists, as quickly as possible.”
What do you think?
