Chapter 229 The Date
The evening air was cool, the city lights flickering like scattered stars beyond the penthouse windows. Inside, Adams stood in front of a full-length mirror, adjusting the cuffs of his black suit. The fabric was smooth, tailored perfectly to his form, with gold trimmings catching the light at just the right angles. A flick of his wrist, and his tie straightened itself. His hair, naturally flawless, stayed effortlessly in place. He exhaled, satisfied.
Behind him, Arianna leaned against the doorway, arms crossed, golden eyes filled with curiosity. "Where are you going all dressed up like that?"
Adams didn't look away from the mirror as he adjusted his collar. "A date."
Arianna blinked. Once. Twice. Then tilted her head. "...What's a date?"
Adams paused. His fingers stilled against his cufflinks. Slowly, he turned to face her, meeting her expectant gaze. A sigh left his lips, as if realizing he should've seen this coming.
He stepped forward, resting his hand lightly on her head. "Tch. Should've done this earlier."
Before Arianna could protest, a surge of knowledge flooded her mind—like a dam breaking, spilling centuries' worth of human culture directly into her consciousness.
Flashes of bustling city streets, candlelit dinners, movie theaters, street food vendors, high-end restaurants, and cozy cafés—everything from grand romantic gestures to casual hangouts. Music festivals, fashion trends, slang, traditions, global myths and legends, social norms, entertainment, history—everything.
Arianna's pupils shrank slightly, her breath hitching as wave after wave of information poured in. When it finally settled, she staggered back a step, her golden eyes wide with realization.
"...Oh." She blinked rapidly. Then frowned. "Wait, people do all that just to impress someone?"
Adams chuckled, stepping past her and reaching for a sleek, black wristwatch on the dresser. "Depends on the person." He fastened the watch with a smooth motion. "Some do it for love, some for fun, some just because they can."
Arianna's lips pressed into a thin line. "And you?"
Adams slid his hands into his pockets, his expression unreadable. "...You'll see."
Arianna squinted at him, as if trying to decipher something. Then, she huffed and crossed her arms again. "Hmph. Well, don't do anything stupid."
Adams smirked. "Have a little faith, sister."
Leaving Arianna to her thoughts, he made his way to the garage. The sleek, dimly lit space echoed with his footsteps. As he approached the center, he paused, realizing something.
He didn't have a car yet.
A soft chuckle escaped him. "Guess I overlooked that detail."
With a snap of his fingers, the air shimmered before him. In an instant, a car materialized—a 2025 Bugatti Spartacus Hyper-SUV, its design a perfect blend of luxury and performance. The deep metallic sheen of its exterior reflected the ambient light, highlighting its sleek contours.
Adams ran a hand along the hood, appreciating the craftsmanship. "This will do nicely."
Sliding into the driver's seat, the interior enveloped him in comfort. The dashboard came alive with advanced displays, and the engine purred to life with a mere thought.
As he drove out into the city's evening glow, the streets blurred past, the Bugatti's performance seamless and exhilarating. The cityscape transformed into a tapestry of lights, and Adams couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation for the night ahead.
The destination awaited, and with it, the promise of new experiences in this ever-evolving world.

Naomi stood outside her apartment, arms crossed as she glanced at her phone for the third time in the last five minutes. She was dressed in an elegant yet casual outfit—black heels, a sleek red dress that hugged her figure just right, and a black coat draped over her shoulders. Her long, dark hair cascaded down her back in soft waves, and her makeup was subtle but striking.
The city lights shimmered around her, casting a golden glow on the pavement. A cool breeze brushed past, making her shiver slightly. She sighed, shifting her weight onto one foot. Where is he?
Just then, a deep, almost predatory hum echoed through the street. A luxury SUV, sleek and futuristic, smoothly pulled up in front of her, the headlights casting a soft glow on the pavement.
Naomi frowned. Who the hell drives something like this around here? She stepped back slightly, her eyebrows knitting together as she stared at the vehicle. The tinted windows made it impossible to see who was inside, and for a second, she considered pulling out her phone and calling Adams.
But then the door opened.
Adams stepped out, dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit with gold accents, looking effortlessly refined. His hair was slightly tousled, as if he didn't even try, yet it suited him perfectly. A smirk played on his lips as he locked eyes with Naomi.
"Hey," he said, voice smooth as ever.
Naomi blinked. Once. Twice. Then she crossed her arms. "Where did you steal that from?"
Adams chuckled. "I didn't steal it. Thought I'd show up in style."
She looked him up and down, then the car, then back at him. "You just got here and you're already flexing like a billionaire?"
He tilted his head, clearly amused. "Would you prefer if I showed up on a bicycle?"
Naomi exhaled through her nose, shaking her head with a small smirk. "Tch. Whatever. You're lucky you look good."
Adams extended his hand toward her. "Shall we?"
She rolled her eyes but took his hand anyway, letting him guide her toward the car. As he opened the door for her, she glanced up at him.
"Don't think this means I'm impressed," she muttered.
Adams just smiled. "Of course not."
The SUV's door closed with a soft click, and in the next moment, the vehicle glided into the city night, disappearing into the neon-lit streets.
Inside the SUV, the interior was just as luxurious as the outside—sleek black leather seats, ambient lighting that gave off a soft blue glow, and a dashboard filled with high-tech features Naomi didn't even recognize. The scent of new leather mixed with a faint trace of something else… something distinctly Adams.
She leaned back, crossing her legs as she side-eyed him. "So… are you gonna tell me where you actually got this thing?"@@novelbin@@
Adams, one hand on the wheel, chuckled. "Does it matter?"
Naomi scoffed, shaking her head. "It does when you just showed up in a car that looks like it came straight out of a sci-fi movie."
Adams glanced at her with a teasing smirk. "You sound jealous."
She rolled her eyes. "Tch. As if."
The city lights blurred past as Adams smoothly maneuvered through the streets. The ride was so smooth, it barely felt like they were moving. Naomi glanced at the touchscreen display, noticing the insane number of features. The dashboard didn't even have buttons—everything was holographic.
Her curiosity got the best of her. She reached out and tapped the screen, watching as a 3D map projected in front of her.
"What the—?"
Adams chuckled, eyes still on the road. "Like I said, I wanted to show up in style."
Naomi narrowed her eyes at him. "This isn't just style. This is some future tech level of ridiculous."
Adams didn't respond, only smiling as he made a turn onto a less crowded road. The city stretched out before them, skyscrapers shimmering against the dark sky, neon signs flickering like stars.
"So," he said, finally breaking the silence, "where are we headed?"
Naomi gave him a look. "You don't know? You're the one who asked me out."
Adams hummed, tapping his fingers against the wheel. "True… but I figured I'd let you decide."
Naomi raised an eyebrow. "Oh? You mean you didn't plan this whole thing just to flex your insanely expensive mystery car?"
Adams smirked. "The car was just a bonus."
She huffed, looking out the window. "Hmph. Fine. I know a place."
Adams raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Naomi's lips curved into a small smirk. "You'll see."
And just like that, the night had only just begun.
What do you think?
