Chapter 169 - 169 Working on the adjustment
Chapter 169: Working on the adjustment Chapter 169: Working on the adjustment I woke up late that morning, wrapped in a cocoon of soft blankets and oversized pajamas with little cartoon pandas on them.
The villa was unusually quiet, the kind of silence that made you either grateful or suspicious—depending on your mood.
For me, it was the former.
I had no intentions of doing anything productive today.
My hair was a mess, tied in a lazy bun, and I hadn’t even washed my face when my phone buzzed.
[Mariah]: “Hey!
Can you bring me the red pouch from the kitchen?
I need it at the farm.
Please, it’s urgent.” I groaned.
Of course she needed something.
And of course it had to be urgent.
But I owed her a few favors, and besides, it was in the kitchen and the farm wasn’t that far.
So, still in my pajamas and slippers, I grabbed the pouch and headed out with zero intentions of turning it into a fashion moment.
The gravel crunched under my feet as I made my way to the estate gate hoping to hult a taxi.
That’s when it happened.
A black SUV screeched to a halt in front of me, and for a second, I just froze.
My heart jumped into my throat.
The tinted window rolled down slowly, revealing a sharp-jawed man in a tailored suit and sunglasses.
“Miss Summar, you need to come with us.” I blinked.
“Excuse me?” “Sir Cristóbal is expecting you.” I took a step back.
“I’m in pajamas.
I haven’t even brushed my teeth.” He didn’t blink.
“He said to tell you it wasn’t optional.” I glanced around.
No one in sight.
I should’ve run.
I should’ve screamed.
What do you think?
