Chapter 652: Chapter 652: Congratulations, You Have Successfully Caught My Attention_1

Tang Zhou, under the guise of returning a cell phone, walked guiltily into the storage room, only to find Leng Chenmo making his bed, or rather, arranging the set of sofas he’d been ‘forced’ to sleep on.

“Hey, doesn’t this bother you? Sleeping on a sofa every night, if I were in your shoes, I would have stormed off long ago,” Tang Zhou tried to hide the remorse in his heart and his voice was void of guilt.

Leng Chenmo, having finished setting up his ‘bed’, turned around and met Tang Zhou’s sheepish gaze. He said nothing, only flashed Tang Zhou a knowing smile.

Made uncomfortable by Leng Chenmo’s grin, Tang Zhou blurted, “What are you smirking at?”

“Aw, girl, feeling sorry for me?” Leng Chenmo nonchalantly lounged on the sofa, arms stretched out casually over the back, legs crossed at ease. The mere gesture radiated an aura so potent that it made Tang Zhou feel as if he was under the spell of a siren. This was what he referred to as the boss’s sit!

However, on hearing the word ‘girl’, Tang Zhou’s face darkened, “Ha, me feeling sorry for you? Stop daydreaming. Here, take your phone back. I am off to bed. You may continue to wallow in your pitiable situation.”

...

But on reaching the storage room door, not once did he hear any attempt from Leng Chenmo to stop him or negotiate a room change. Feeling a prick of conscience, Tang Zhou looked back at Leng Chenmo and offered self-justification, “I’m not doing this because of a guilty conscience, I’m just thanking you for the care you showered on me at the hospital. There’s a spacious room next to mine, it’s yours from now on.”

“I thought you were offering me your room,” Leng Chenmo replied with the same playful smirk.

“In your dreams!” Saying so, Tang Zhou stormed off into his own room.

Though, as he strained his ears to catch any movement from the living room, it was eerily silent.

Impatient, Tang Zhou rushed from his bed and burst into the storage room only to find Leng Chenmo still lounging on the same old sofa, making no move to change rooms. “Hey, are you going to move or not?” Tang Zhou demanded from the doorway.

“It’s quite nice here. Someone might even pity me,” came the indifferent reply.

Tang Zhou rolled up his sleeves, “If you refuse to move then leave my house. Are my words just wind to you? What use are you to me?”

The only reply he got was Chenmo’s chuckling.

“God, would you die if you stopped smiling? I never pegged you as the laughing kind before,” retorted Tang Zhou.

“What was I like before?” Leng Chenmo asked curiously.

Tang Zhou reflected on the question briefly, “You were unbearable, totally caught up in your idol persona, putting on airs. I remember once, when I threw firecrackers under your car, your bodyguards were all so scared they started patrolling around with their guns, only you sat in the car unfazed, almost meditative. It was such a letdown. I was watching through binoculars, and you didn’t even blink.”

“You threw firecrackers under my car?” Leng Chenmo couldn’t recall such an incident.

Tang Zhou immediately clamped his mouth shut, realizing he had incriminated himself unnecessarily. He coughed lightly, attempting to divert Leng Chenmo’s attention.

However, Leng Chenmo wasn’t willing to change the subject, but instead pursued further, “Why did you throw firecrackers under my car? To get my attention?”

Before Tang Zhou could respond, Leng Chenmo rose from the sofa, slipped on his shoes, and started walking towards him, stating, “Congratulations, you successfully got my attention.”
