Chapter 664: Is chaos better than order? (part 19)
Naturally the previous wasn't directed to Albert, since Aster had zero interest in the glasses guy whom he didn't consider at all, his real target was that brother of his, Wade as it was clear that he did have authority in the saying of the Ocean Aquamarine family, since he seemed to hold a similar status as Valentina, despite obviously not being a Fey princess.
Probably because the only princess from the Ocean Aquamarine was part of the young instead of the youngest generation unlike Valentina so instead of burdening her with duties in the family, all her focus was on cultivating to not be thrown into the next generation too soon, at least before a new princess was born.
"In case you think I'm joking, you can ask those idiots from the Blazeheart family the kind of debt they have with me and who has to pay it, since you seem to have gotten closer with them all of a sudden", said Aster to Wade before smirking as he added.
"On the other hand, you might not be as close since they didn't tell you about it, or perhaps you guys didn't ask, oh well one has to pay the consequences for hanging out with idiots… or having idiots as relatives".
Albert who was fuming at the sight of Aster completely ignoring him, despite the previous plan being his, saw red when he got what he wanted, as Aster looked at him when he said the "idiot relatives" part of his sentence.
"A nobody like you dares to dream about demanding compensation from the Ocean Aquamarine family, those proofs of yours don't convince me, I demand a one-on-one sword duel against that blue haired girl without you interfering!", he exclaimed as he pointed at Nerissa which made Aster chuckle.
'For someone with an innate ability to calm his mind down, this guy is quite temperamental, what a spoiled brat bastard, not complaining since this makes things way easier than they should be', he amusingly thought before saying.
"Don't misunderstand things, I have zero doubts that even if I didn't move a centimeter from where I stand, I'll still get to see the entertaining scene of a pretty dual blue toned sword taking separating your head from your body".
"I'm only here to prevent any of the other trash from getting any "funny" ideas while you are getting cut apart", he said with a disdainful voice as he gazed at Albert, Bradley as well as the three vices.
And that was the drop that broke the camel's back, the bulky guy couldn't hold himself back and this time the glasses guy didn't have it in him to calm his friend down, in fact he also gave the agreed secret signal to his vice-captain before they both turned into a blue and brown flashes.
Seeing Albert and Bradley appear in front of Aster with their sword and Warhammer aiming at him, Wade had a vein pop on his forehead as he shouted.
"Hold your hand!", contrary to what one would expect that wasn't directed to Aster, but to those two, Wade was telling them to not attack the black-haired youth, but it was too late.
A cold smile which made Wade explode in spirit energy to then lash his whip at the nearby ground making it explode, appeared on Aster's face, but very much to his displease, a certain blond girl with purple eyes who was giggling right now, blocked his way by pointing her sword at him.
"Now, now, we as representatives shouldn't get involved into the matters of the disciples, right~", happily said Valentina.
"Purple Lightning Princess, you better stop that psycho from laying a hand on my…", just as Wade was threatening Valentina, had a bad premotion which made him change his attention back to the battlefield.
The fear of retaliation made it so that those at the Transcending realms couldn't use their spirit sense in the distortion's area, Wade had no choice but to look at Valentina earlier, but he turned his head just in time to see a golden flash bypass Albert and Bradly.
Those two couldn't follow up Aster's processing speed, which was equal or even slightly superior to the level of a Genesis Core cultivator which had taken the soul path as his main.
Buth Wade is at the peak of the Void Manipulation realm, just like Valentina and while his main is the body path unlike hers, he is a secondary soul path cultivator, so he got to see in perfect detail how the face of his brother went from fierceness to pain and lastly to horror.
"Aghh!",
"Gaah!".
The scene then reached the brains, eyes and ears of all the other people, soul cultivators or not, the two horrified screams stopped the fight that was about to break out between the three vice-captains and Nerissa, they turned around just to be terrorized at the sight of two arms wearing familiar badges falling from the sky.
Aster who had appeared behind those two after severing their right arms to thoroughly humiliate them, not because they were right-handed but because they wore those badges, they seemed so proud off in their right arms, casually turned around and grabbed both Albert and Bradely by their necks from behind, forcefully stopping their pained screams.
"To think you two would fail to upkeep one of the golden rules in a fight, to never lose your focus no matter what, when even a little girl can do it, I guess it's not a matter of being spoiled but being stupid", he said as he applied some strength on his hands.
Coughing sounds could be heard as Aster lifted those two, besides their life saving treasures which Aster had already identified as they were in the form of pendants like usual, their next best defensive treasures were those badges… which weren't attached to their bodies anymore since he cut their arms off.
So, what was protecting them now was the defensive formation engraved in their armors, which was actually quite high ranked, as it perfectly adapted to their bodies and was even flexible to not reduce their mobility, the problem is that such a good spec played against them here, as the steel like grip on their necks made the thing apply pressure on their necks which was asphyxiating them.
"What a poor design, well not that it was unexpected since idiots tend to flock together, don't you agree?", said Aster at Wade whose eyes were starting to get bloodshot as he saw his younger brother getting asphyxiated just enough for him to suffer, but not enough to threaten his life so that his life saving treasure would activate on its own.
If Albert and Bradly were used to the battlefield, they would have been able to think straight and command their life saving treasures to activate, but since they were panicking over their necks getting some pressure, they couldn't properly think right now.
Besides struggling and trying to kick or ease Aster's grip on their necks with their hands, which was of course not going to work, since they weren't physically strong enough to even make Aster's fingers budge.
"How dare you, release the young master this instant you, crazy bastard!", shouted the half heavenly protectors from both the Mountain Amber and Ocean Aquamarine families in unison, they both agreed to let those two go and mess with Nerissa so if they were to suffer any real harm, they'll be executed for sure.
"Don't you dare, if you hurt don't stop, we'll kill this bitch!", shouted the female vice-captain, only for Aster to coldly glare at her as he said.
"Dare this, dare that, you lot from the Ocean Aquamarine are really annoying, I'm going to rip these guy's tongues the next time someone uses that word".
The vice-captains from Fawn and Bradley's teams who were about to shout similar lines, forcefully swallowed their words, not knowing whether the black-haired youth in front of them was bluffing… or not.
Albert who was trying to break free from Aster's confinement felt his back break in cold sweat, he actually stopped resisting after listening to the previous.
'B-Brother help me!', he screamed through sound transmission, which made Wade clench his hands so much that his nails pierced his skin making him bleed.
"That's enough, what do you want?", he poisonously asked to Aster who casually answered.
"I want you to say it yourself".
While trembling due to anger, Wade sighed and ultimately said with a defeated voice.
"We'll pay compensation for having slandered the Lord of the Twin Sword Valley and the disciple of the Purple Lightning Princess, now let go of…", before Wade could finish his sentence, a nightmare-inducing voice interrupted him.
"Don't confuse things, the slander matter is one thing but how are you planning to make up for your brother trying to play stupid games with a friend of mine?", coldly asked Aster as he tightened his grip on those two's necks making their eyes turn slightly red due to the blood being forced upwards.
Wade perfectly knew what Aster meant, Albert wanted to bring Nerissa with them, not because of the techniques she used, but mostly because she showed such a high talent in a water attribute as well as her outstanding looks, the fact that she used similar techniques to the ones from the Ocean Aquamarine princesses was a plus, he simply wanted to take her for himself.
The problem is that admitting to that, would be a huge stain on the reputation of the whole family, instead of just being a personal matter of his younger brother, since he did have some justification when he confronted Nerissa earlier but that would change.
'Albert is not an heir, he'll be condemned to be ostracized if I admit to it, but I don't know if that bastard isn't crazy enough to try and kill him, damn it!', inwardly cursed Wade, he is the representative in the youngest generation of the Ocean Aquamarine not just in name, his actions had weight and will have repercussions in the family.
"Our young master had nothing to do with that, we'll pay compensation for the slandering matter, so let go of him", seeing that Wade was conflicted, the protector from the Mountain Amber family took the initiative to negotiate, only for Aster to answer.
"He participated so he is equally guilty, the next time warn him to not hang around with trash who thinks they are smarter than others, if you don't want him to suffer the consequences".
Wade who was being deathly glared at by the protector from the Mountain Amber family, ultimately raised his hands in defeat to then say.
"What do you suggest", he didn't dare to use the word "want" because unlike compensation for slandering which was basically monetary, it was clear that what the black-haired youth was aiming at for the other matter was compensation of a different nature, so he had to thread carefully.
Unfortunately, Aster would never miss on a chance to utterly make those hostiles to him bleed if he couldn't realistically get rid of them for the good, to be honest he wasn't planning to kill those two in public, there is huge difference between fiercely seeking reparations after being provoked like he was doing as of current and killing two direct descendants from a ruler family in the open.
Justification was the key word here, of course if those two had tried to kill the girls, things would have been completely different, forget about compensation, Aster would have beheaded them himself at the slightest chance he had, but that wasn't his intention… this time.
After all, why give your enemies a reason to go after your life in the open, when you can realistically get rid of them without anyone knowing and without anything pointing at you being the culprit.
'Those pendants are connected to soul lamps, how interesting they will track not only those that kill their "important" direct descendants but even those that had threatened their lives, as one would expect from a ruler level family', thought Aster as he scanned those two's life saving treasures with his dragon eyes for future references to then say.
"Nothing too unreasonable, I don't want to see a situation like this happening ever again, so all the people from your two families who are present right now must make a soul oath stating no one from your families will neither question nor make troubles out of anything related to manuals and techniques from anyone in my group, with your lives as collaterals, quite simple right?", casually said Aster.
But his voice was akin to that of a demon for the protectors and representatives of the Ocean Aquamarine and Mountain Amber families, he was basically taking direct descendants, some protectors and even a heir as hostages to close a huge window for them to use as justification in the future, also Aster said his "group" which was a blank check as said group could increase at his will, though there was still a limit to it.
"We'll do it instead of the young ones as we failed to fulfill our duties, so let others out of this", said the protectors from both families, what a joke if they returned to the family and informed the elders that an heir level member of the family with position of authority had his life taken as collateral by a "nobody", they will be beaten half to death out of anger before they and their descendants get punished for such a thing.
Of course, they tried to pass it as they honorably fulfilling their duties as protectors, unfortunately Aster shot their dreams down by saying.
"Do you think I'm a fool, your lives aren't worth a damn compared to let alone him, but even these guys, honestly I wanted to make sure you would never go against me again but I doubt you'll agree to that unless the ones whose necks were at my disposition were your ancestors, so hurry up while I'm still being reasonable", Aster then tightened his grip on those two's necks making their faces turn red due to the struggle they had to breath.
He was totally not joking, Aster knew that if what he demanded went too far, even if he went mad due to anger, Wade would have no choice but to refuse even if it meant letting his brother die, since otherwise he would die due to the soul oath, so as much as he hated to admit it, the black haired youth indeed was leaving them a way out, though it was a horrible and humiliating one.
"I agree, stop already damn it!", exclaimed Wade to then make the soul oath since he was sure Aster won't let his brother go unless he acted first, the protectors who were fearing for their future had no choice but to follow and the other members of their families who were at the observing area followed through.
Aster then nodded as he eased his grip on those guy's necks finally allowing them to breath without any obstruction, however he didn't let them go already and they were so in shock that they didn't even try to escape.
"Now what?", asked Wade seeing that Aster wasn't letting them go despite his most important demand being fulfilled, only to see Aster smirk.
"I don't see the compensation, for the other subject, it's a shame that long distance communications are impossible as of current, I'll be magnanimous since it's a first-time offense, all your spatial rings and half of your spaceships will do, I'll be the one to choose which spaceships to take of course".
"Nonsense, why don't you directly rob us instead!", exclaimed the Ocean Aquamarine protector, only for Aster to casually add.
"What are you telling me that your dear "young masters" lives aren't worthy as much, ah right don't even try to take anything out of either the rings or the spaceships, otherwise I'll have to take even what you are wearing as of current from you", he devilishly said.
Wade suddenly came to a realization as if a lightning out of the blue had struck him, they all had some techniques and manuals obtained from the library of their families, as well as some nice discoveries they had made in street markets, secret realms and other places here and there, stored in their rings, or in their private rooms back at their spaceships.
So now that Aster was taking them and due to the oath, they just made, they… couldn't cause any trouble, not to mention the protectors felt their hearts bleeding at the thought of some of their most important resources which were kept in their rings, being about to be stripped from them.
'This bastard, he made us make the oath first on purpose!', inwardly cursed Wade as he saw the small smirk on Aster's face, that being said he ultimately had no choice but to bite the bullet and take his spatial ring out of his finger.
"Don't forget to completely unlock it and deactivate any funny functions first, I have a friend with really good "senses" so I'll know if you don't, and you know what will happen then", casually added Aster.
While gritting his teeth Wade have to go through the humiliation of turning off all the safety functions in his private spatial ring which was a reward he obtained when he reached the level of an heir and gained a position of authority within the family, said ring is actually a low Immortal grade spirit treasure, needless to say but he was glaring at Aster with anger.
Unfortunately for him, Aster still had some more humiliation in storage for him.
"You can leave them with miss Valentina", he said, to which Wade at this point could only grit his teeth as he handed his ring to his despised enemy, don't forget that the Ocean Aquamarine are in horribly bad terms with the Lightning Amethyst family.
"Are we done now?", calmly asked Wade, he had long passed the point of anger, you could say his "anger meter" had made a complete turn so he returned to calmness.
"Almost, I want that, that, that and that", said Aster as he made some arrows with spirit energy to point at four of the eight spaceships with the emblems of the Ocean Aquamarine and mountain Amber families.
Surprisingly, Aster only choose two of the four flagships from the two families, which helped Wade calm down a bit, it would be too embarrassing to have all the flagships he took with him, stolen by a someone from a middle grade Stellar System, though one of those was his personal ship, which meant that his belongings there were as good as gone, his ring was way more important to him, so at this point he didn't care.
The two protectors on the other hand were pale, the "regular" ships which Aster choose, had the "funds" they had obtained not too long ago, hidden in them, unfortunately they didn't dare to speak against it since Wade gave his approval, specially because he was a tickling bomb as of current, and some poor bastard was going to pay for it at a later time.
"Give her the ownership tokens", said Wade, to which the protectors had no choice but to obey, due to the distortions, they had the "keys" of the spaceships in their person instead of keeping them in their rings.
Something Aster knew by the way, which is why he didn't simply demand for their rings and went as far as to specifically mention the spaceships, since they would have managed to keep them all if he didn't do so.
Only after seeing the four tokes on Valentina's left hand while she had a whole bunch of rings on her ring hand, did Aster let go of those two, who immediately ran away towards Wade and the others, they even forgot about their severed arms, but Aster was magnanimous and threw them in their direction.
He wanted to take those two's rings from them, but a certain blue haired girl had done so in secret already.
'Did I perhaps "corrupt" this senior sister of mine a bit too much…', wondered Aster as he felt Valentina's accusatory gaze, of course Nerissa knew to loot her enemies, but it wasn't to this point.
Speaking of Nerissa, Aster turned his head at her directions, his eyes locked on the three vices who felt the coldness behind his gaze and had their survival instincts scream.
"Hel…", just as they tried to flee a golden flash passed next to them, Aster who appeared next to Nerissa sheathed his sword and their heads separated from their bodies which then fell from the sky.
"What is the meaning of this!", roared the two protectors as they saw those three die without the chance to scream, only for Aster to casually say.
"I seem to remember saying that you were paying for your "young masters" lives, they weren't a part of the deal to begin with".
The protectors saw red, after losing basically everything they personally brought with them, as well as what they had earned through outer methods during the whole journey and they still had members of their families die, so they had nothing to cover their asses once they returned to the main territory now.
"Enough, we have to treat those two… we'll remember this, Lord of the Twin Sword Valley", said Wade as he deathly glared at the protectors to then leave towards the spaceships they still owned, since they had to make a list of the funds, resources and other things they still had.
For the first time in their lives, the high and mighty direct descendants and an heir from the Ocean Aquamarine and Mountain Amber families will have to see if they can make ends meet during a mission, it was utter humiliation.
"You better, otherwise you'll all die if you make a slight mistake", jokingly said Aster making allusion to the soul oath they made, which nearly caused Wade to trip even though he was flying while carrying his traumatized brother in his arms.
While shaking due to anger, Wade didn't turn back and instead accelerated towards the remaining flagship, wishing to not see Aster for the rest of his life, not without glaring in the direction of the group from the Redheart family, since they did omit the part of Aster having made them suffer a great loss.
And as rational as Wade was, since he couldn't take out his anger on Aster and those related to him, the next obvious target in his mind were them and judging by the female representatives from the Redheart family, who had worried expressions on their faces, they knew it.
But enough of sad things, Nerissa who was secretly about to retrieve the rings from the corpses of the three vices that Aster killed, since Wade didn't even bother to try and take them back, as his priority right now was to treat his brother's wound… again, saw the water stream she was using to stealthily take their rings be evaporated by a fire wave.
Iris who had arrived at her rival's battlefield, then took those rings and flew upwards to where Aster and Nerissa were floating to then offer them to Aster.
"Here", said the red-haired girl with a small smile on her pretty face, which made Nerissa softly snort.
"Hey isn't that unfair, you basically stole them from my hands you know", she said, but Iris gloriously ignored her complains.
"Humph, in any case I gathered more, not to mention the ones that sister Valentina is holding onto now", mumbled Nerissa as she also took out the rings she got from her now dead opponents.
Aster found those two's strange competitiveness over who looted the most, rather cute, but he still had a couple more of battlefields to be so he had to interrupt them.
"Ahem, aren't you two forgetting about something", he said as he pointed at the distortion which had already opened and spat out the resource they were supposed to obtain.
A reddish tone appeared on those two's faces, before they both flashed away like scared rabbits, not without leaving all those rings in Aster's hands, very much to his amusement.
'How cute', he thought before flashing towards the two furthest battlefields out of all the ones he had selected for his group.
What do you think?
