Chapter 568 568: Overseer & Domain
The palm-sized cube had a small Air Step spell inscribed on the bottom side too, along with having a hollow space inside which could be filled with one's liquid mana to keep the four palm-sized cubes fixed in the air.
Worldscribe just had to put some of her liquid mana inside and it would activate on its own. There was no stopping it once it was activated; Damian had designed it as such to not let the trapped individuals turn it off without physically destroying it.
The insane kid was even putting a Protection Shield spell into it, but that would have made the Volatile Zone activation spell less effective, reducing its duration to less than 3 hours before the cubes got damaged on their own, so Worldscribe didn't let him do it.
Lifewarden had already reached the opposite side from her, keeping the maniacally laughing witch and the chasing suns between them, and activated the next cube. The witch noticed it, but she couldn't come near for a closer look, so she continued her teleportations. Lifewarden set up another one, and then the last one.
With Worldscribe's cube already activated, the Volatile Zone was complete. When the witch came out of her portal this time and tried to create another one, the black portal started opening, but a second later the red lightning became uncontrollable and the black portal vanished into thin air.
The witch had her eyes wide open; the second of hesitation cost her dearly as, one after another, twelve mini suns crashed into her and exploded in a gigantic series of explosions — mushroom clouds of fire rising high into the sky.
Worldscribe and Lifewarden did not miss the golden opportunity and landed the powerful spells they had been holding for a while, with their mana threads.
Worldscribe directed her Void Collapse at the center of the explosions, a growing sphere of absolute darkness that damaged matter and energy, hurtling through the air at increasing speed. In the opposite side, Worldscribe could see Lifewarden activating his famous skill, Lightborne Dominion, which temporarily turned Lifewarden into an avatar of divine light, greatly enhancing his speed, magic power, and healing abilities. Enemies nearby took continuous radiant damage.
Lifewarden also launched a titanic sword of light from the heavens to strike down the human abomination that was the witch.
Both attacks landed squarely on the falling figure that had lost all her spells. Before they could see what the dark sphere and titanic light sword did to her, both Worldscribe and Lifewarden sensed a strange mana, and a shimmering blue waygate materialized beside Worldscribe in the next second.

[The Eternal Prison, Damian's POV]
Damian opened a waygate to each of his three separated teams and brought only his people back to the shrine.
The gorilla monster, Droquar, was left behind in the unknown place. Asher had somehow managed to bring back the core of the lava monster, T'korran. Trapped inside the invisible box, the creature could not regain its form, so it wasn't an issue anymore.
Unfortunately, he was too late for the Witch; she was much weaker than the other three. Lifewarden and Worldscribe had killed her with their overwhelming spells. Better not to mention that last one to the Sun God.
Gathering everyone inside the shrine, Damian said to Sun God,
"As I promised, I stopped the fight and brought back Sulthar. I won't bring everyone here before you tell us everything though."
"I probably shouldn't trust the words of a human, but since you brought at least two of them back, I will give you some answers.. Not like I have much choice anyway," said the Sun God.
"Can we finally go back now?" asked Silverspell.
"As I already informed this kid, I have no control over this spell of his before he came here," the floating figure said, a bit irritated.
"What is an Overseer?" Sesha asked, her face serious.
The ethereal figure looked back at her, then at all their faces. Everyone wanted to hear an answer to that.
"That's what the divine calls a fifth-ranker," he replied and then asked, "How does a group of barely second- and third-rankers know about it?"
"We are the ones asking questions here," Worldscribe said firmly.
Even after seeing the enormous pigmen figure of the Sun God, none of the Highswords were much intimidated by it.
Asher's screen flashed: 'Are you the only one of this rank in this world? What happens if there is no Overseer in the world?'
The Sun God couldn't read it, so Runefather read it out loud.
"Nothing.. Why would anything happen? The world doesn't care who lives or dies. I am the last one.." Sun God replied.
The Highswords exchanged glances amongst themselves, but no one voiced aloud the situation on Earth. Asher continued,
'Can Overseers control our path of ascension? Tell us everything you know about the Overseer.'
"Yes, it is possible if you live inside our domain and accept a piece of our soul. But there has to be a faith or fear, a sense of superiority between the Pathfinder and the Overseer for the disciple options to work.. I once did it and paid heavily after taking advantage of such things. The more disciples an Overseer has, the better the boost in stats they gain," explained Sun God.
"Domain?" Lifewarden asked.
"I don't know if it's the same for everyone, but there was a certain place in which my Overseer authority was strongest. Around 400 Koras big area. It's a fixed place that can't be changed afterwards. Mine was near my lost home — it's the center of this world's civilization now."
"How long is this Kora?" Silverspell asked.
"Ah, sorry. My real body behind us is nearly 2 Koras," Sun God replied.
The real body of the Sun God towered above them, probably around 1200 to 1500 meters tall. So, at least 500 to 700 meters made up 1 Kora. 400 Koras would be something bigger than 200 kilometers.
"Around 200 kilometers.." Runefather muttered.
Asher's screen flashed again: 'Average length of Dawnstar, Eldoris, Faerunia.. And even the Demon Island..'
The Highswords looked at him with wide eyes — they understood what he was trying to convey. Each of these kingdoms worshipped a different god.
What do you think?
