The Seventh Base

Chapter 409 - 51 The Miserable Xu Mo

Ge Qing led Xu Mo to a laboratory area, where she selected two injectable solutions and then said to Xu Mo, "Take off your clothes."

"???" Xu Mo looked at Ge Qing in astonishment, holding the injectable solutions and asking him to undress!!

"These drugs will improve your body," Ge Qing explained.

"My body is already very good," Xu Mo muttered to himself, but still obediently took off his clothes.

Ge Qing took a syringe, drew the drug into it, then found a vein in Xu Mo’s arm, inserted the needle, and injected the drug into his body.

"Genetic medicine?" Xu Mo inquired.

"No, it’s an enhancement drug with no side effects. It will enhance your physical fitness, but you need to exercise to go along with it. The only drawback is that for a short time, you might experience stronger impulses than usual," Ge Qing explained.

Xu Mo looked at Ge Qing with astonishment, noting her expression remained unchanged as she spoke.

He doubted, "Are you a robot?"

"No," Ge Qing replied.

"You’re not quite normal," Xu Mo thought to himself, but he didn’t voice it.

To him, Ge Qing seemed akin to a machine.

"Let’s go." After the injection, Ge Qing took him away from there to a huge room filled with a sense of futuristic technology and said, "This is the training room, you can use voice commands to select the difficulty level. Get familiar with it. From now on, you need to train here for one month, twelve hours every day."

"......" Xu Mo looked at Ge Qing. Mandatory training?

Was this the beginning of the scheduled curriculum?

The scenario was different from what he had imagined. He thought that after joining the Divine Sword Team, he would be provided with equipment, formidable combat skills, and instruction from a skilled mentor.

Instead, it was devilish training!

"What if I don’t reach the training time?" Xu Mo asked curiously.

"You will only regain your freedom and leave the Divine Sword Bureau after completing a month’s worth of twelve-hour training sessions. If you fall short, the training will be extended," Ge Qing stated.

"Understood," Xu Mo said. "Thank you."

"You’re welcome," Ge Qing responded and then turned and left the room.

Xu Mo looked at Ge Qing’s retreating figure in astonishment. After she had left, he stood alone in the vast space, feeling somewhat empty.

The mechanical doors of the training room closed, and then the lights shifted as a mechanical voice announced, "Please select the training difficulty level and duration. The minimum level is one, and the minimum time is one hour. Once confirmed, it cannot be changed."

"How many levels are there in total?" Xu Mo asked.

"Nine," came the mechanical response.

It cannot be changed?

If he chose the lowest level one, then training for just an hour would feel wasteful.

"Level four, one hour," Xu Mo responded, starting from level four should be manageable.

"Confirmed," the mechanical voice returned, followed by a rumbling noise. The Cultivation Room began to transform, as if the entire room was in motion.

"Gravity Space activated."

"Virtual Battlefield activated."

With each announcement, Xu Mo suddenly felt his body become heavy.

Gravity Space? Virtual Battlefield?

He jumped into the air only to find that he could only leap a little before being met with extreme resistance.

The training room morphed into a futuristic battlefield, and phantom mechanical beings appeared. A mechanical being leaped down from a rooftop towards him to attack.

Xu Mo dodged with his body but found it was not as agile as before, unable to move as he wished, which was very uncomfortable for him.

In a hasty punch, he collided with a mechanical being.

"Bang..." A loud noise ensued as the mechanical being’s iron fist slammed his own aside before blasting towards his body and striking him.

Xu Mo was knocked flying and fell to the ground.

Before he could recover, he saw a mechanical figure overhead plummeting down, fist aiming straight at him.

"I..."

Xu Mo, heart racing, rolled to the side to dodge the attack and shouted, "Can I adjust the difficulty?"

"Once confirmed, it cannot be changed," the mechanical voice replied.

"Will I be beaten to death?" Xu Mo yelled out.

"No," continued the mechanical voice. "If life signs are detected to weaken significantly, the system will force a stop and initiate emergency medical procedures."

"Thank you..."

Xu Mo said.

"You’re welcome," the mechanical voice replied.

Xu Mo: "......"

After enduring an hour of inhuman training, Xu Mo crawled out of the Cultivation Room.

As he emerged, Xu Mo saw a pair of long, white legs. Looking up from the legs, he saw Ge Qing’s unruffled face.

Xu Mo looked down, wishing for a hole to crawl into, feeling more embarrassed than ever!

Ge Qing, holding another syringe, crouched down and administered an injection into the vein of Xu Mo’s exposed arm, saying, "This is a recovery drug. It will help you recover quickly so you can continue training and endure the full twelve hours."

"Thank you!" Xu Mo said.

"You’re welcome," Ge Qing replied.

"......" Xu Mo really felt like hitting someone.

He began to suspect that the mechanical voice was set by Ge Qing. Why did it feel so similar in style?

The recovery drug had a remarkably fast effect. Xu Mo felt his strength returning quickly, and his injuries were rapidly healing. Before long, he sat up and looked at Ge Qing standing in front of him, asking, "Did you do this on purpose?"

"What are you referring to?" Ge Qing inquired.

"Why didn’t you warn me about the training level?" Xu Mo asked.
