Chapter 507 - 97: No Bottom Line
Chapter 507: Chapter 97: No Bottom Line
The confrontation between the Federation President’s Mansion and the Divine Sword Bureau had sparked internal strife, and with formidable enemies from outside, the Federation was thrown into tension once again.
Mr. Xiang had just received the news, Federation President Conrad had already led people up the mountain, heading toward the Xiang Family.
The Xiang Family members gathered together, looking up toward the distant direction.
A dazzling, intense light shot through the sky, and in an instant, the hidden energy shield of the Xiang Family was torn apart, a terrifying wave of energy causing the trees on the mountain to sway ceaselessly, many trees withering instantly.
Soon, the Xiang Family saw a powerful armed force appear in the sky, robust mechas and mechanical armed individuals, none of which belonged to Byron Star’s military power.
Clearly, these were people from an alien race.
The Xiang Family’s armed forces also took to the sky, being a top-tier family in the Federation, the Xiang Family held control over the Federation and had formidable military power of their own, although not equivalent to the Divine Sword Bureau but still among the top of the Federation.
However, these alien joined forces had come prepared, and their strength was certainly not weak.
“Mr. Xiang.” A voice rang out, the speaker clad in white armor, completely enveloped by armor, it was Conrad’s voice.
“Come down here!” Mr. Xiang bellowed angrily.
Conrad landed, his companions descending with him.
“Mr. Xiang, there is no need for rage,” Conrad spoke.
“Why become a dog,” Mr. Xiang shouted coldly.
Isn’t the identity of Federation President enough?
To become a dog for the aliens.
“Do you really think the Federation has hope?” Conrad looked at Mr. Xiang, “You control the Federation, dominate the military and government, and are full of yourselves. Just Lancelot Star alone could lead to the Federation’s downfall. What basis do you proud houses have for pride?”
“These families, in my eyes, are even less than the former mayor of Chuanxing City, Liu Feng, at least, Liu Feng knew his limitations, understood the value of enduring humiliation and seeking development. And you? Aside from reaping what your ancestors sowed and squandering the capital they left behind, what else do you have?”
Mr. Xiang, hearing Conrad’s words, was furious to the extreme, his eyes looking as if they could swallow him whole.
“The families behind the Federation have no right to their positions, relying on their ancestors’ glory, enjoying their current status, unwilling to advance, arrogant and conceited. Under your governance, one day, the Federation will be destroyed, just like it was hundreds of years ago.”
Conrad ignored Mr. Xiang’s fury and continued, “I know you think I am a traitor to the Federation, but you are the real parasites of the Federation, and I am its savior. A decaying Federation can only hope for rebirth by tearing it down and starting anew.”
“So, you betray the Federation, giving everything away on a platter?” Mr. Xiang’s voice was laced with fury.
“The Federation can only develop by fully integrating into the Star System Alliance, after everything is restarted, in a few years, no one will remember your existence. Even if the rulers change, the Federation will still be the Federation, but it will be a brand new Federation,” Conrad’s voice was firm, his conviction strong.
These families, thinking him a traitor to the Federation, while he likewise considered them the real parasites of the Federation.
Mr. Xiang’s chest heaved, too angry to speak.
Forgetting their ancestors.
“History will judge everything that has happened today fairly,” Conrad spoke, “It’s just a pity that neither you nor I may live to see that day.”
“Enough of this nonsense,” Conrad continued, “Mr. Xiang, the military and governance of the Federation are already under our control, there is no need to struggle further. Moving forward, please cooperate with the Federation.”
“What if I refuse?” Mr. Xiang stared at Conrad.
“Mr. Xiang is old, perhaps not afraid of death, but the Xiang Family is large and has many descendants, Yun’er is also still young, I’m sure Mr. Xiang will consider them,” Conrad spoke calmly, but his voice carried a strong note of threat.
Mr. Xiang’s eyes were red, staring at Conrad, taking steps forward, while Conrad stood still. But the people around him took a step forward, raising their arms, their weapons aimed at Mr. Xiang.
Mr. Xiang knew it was all over.
The military and governance were under Conrad’s control, the main military forces of the Federation had been destroyed, and now, most were controlled by the aliens. Once the fleets arrived, everything would be settled.
The Federation changed hands.
“What promises did you make to them?” Mr. Xiang stared at Conrad and asked.
“This is no longer something for Mr. Xiang to worry about,” Conrad spoke, his reason for being here was to have a cooperative Xiang Family, one that would assist him in taking over everything in the Federation, ensuring that the major families no longer caused trouble.
Next, he had to deal with the Divine Sword Bureau.
……
The Divine Sword Bureau openly accused the Federation President of betrayal, and the public had been waiting for Conrad’s response.
At last, they had their answer.
Conrad appeared before the screen, countless Federation citizens watching their president on the screen.
Now, the public could no longer make a clear distinction.
“Regarding the charges from the Divine Sword Bureau, the President’s Mansion is deeply grieved,” Conrad spoke to the screen: “Ever since its establishment, the Divine Sword Bureau has been a sharp blade of the Federation, but now, the Divine Sword Bureau has developed its own thoughts.”
“Previously, the Federation Government had requested the Divine Sword Bureau to cooperate in researching Superpower Weapons, but the Bureau refused. Despite this, the Federation still fully trusted the Divine Sword Bureau and did not make any demands, allowing the Bureau to conduct its research independently.”
“However, this autonomy bred ambition within the Divine Sword Bureau. They treated the research as their private property. During the war with Lancelot Star, apart from the Divine Sword Bureau, no one in the Federation possessed Superpower Weapons—only the Bureau did.”
“Now that the great war has ended, the Divine Sword Bureau again refused to hand over the Superpower Weapons and showed no willingness to collaborate with the Federation on research. Perhaps the Divine Sword Bureau had its own plans, believing that even if they took the Superpower Weapons and technology away from Byron Star to the interstellar, they could still secure a promising future. The survival of the Federation and the lives of its citizens might no longer be concerns for the Divine Sword Bureau.”
“Who betrayed the Federation?”
Conrad spoke solemnly, “However, according to Federation sources, the Superpower Weapons were brought back by Xu Mo. I believe that Xu Mo, a recipient of the Purple Gold Medal, understands the greater good. I hope Xu Mo will step forward, accuse the Divine Sword Bureau of its crimes, and demand that they hand over the Superpower Weapons to the Federation, to the people.”
“Xu Mo!” The citizens of Chuanxing City felt a stir inside upon hearing this name. Would he step forward to accuse the Divine Sword Bureau?
The citizens of Chuanxing City still trusted Xu Mo very much. If Xu Mo were to come forward and accuse the Divine Sword Bureau, it would undoubtedly prove that the Bureau was lying.
However, Xu Mo had previously joined the Divine Sword Bureau. Would he stand against it?
Xu Mo also saw Conrad’s statement, and he did not understand what Conrad truly meant.
However, he received a message, an unfamiliar message.
It read three words: “Future City.”
When he opened the message, it astonishingly disappeared, forcibly retracted.
Xu Mo’s eyes narrowed instantly, a cold expression showing in his gaze.
Future City.
Conrad, indeed, had stopped at nothing.
He understood the people of the Federation better than the aliens did, and he must have thoroughly investigated everything about him.
Future City was in danger.
However, Federation President Conrad did not know that the carrier was in Future City.
The signals in Future City were blocked, and Mia and Elsa noticed it too. The residents of Future City were also unable to send messages out.
“Xu Mo,” Mia approached Xu Mo in the room and spoke, “The Federation President just finished speaking, and the signal was blocked.”
Xu Mo’s carrier nodded, saying, “Yes, I saw it.”
All things were connected.
Releasing the statement, sending him the message, blocking the signal, forcing him to step out and “reveal” the Divine Sword Bureau.
Indeed, compared to the aliens, Mr. Conrad, the Federation President, was far more cunning.
He understood the people of Byron Star better than the aliens, knowing what tactics to use against them.
He understood the pride of the Xiang Family, so he had always been ingratiating and paralyzing them. Who would have thought that a compliant dog could betray its master and bite back fiercely?
In the room, the carrier put on the Armor, and a powerful spiritual perception radiated outward, instantly covering the entire Future City in his senses.
At that moment, fully armed individuals were already moving upstairs, and the exits of Future City and the district were blocked.
Mia and Elsa were virtually ordinary people, unable to escape such a level of capture.
A strong rage surged in Xu Mo’s heart; even knowing that Conrad was the mastermind behind his previous assassination attempt, he had not been as angry as he was now.
Two figures walked to the door; the Energy Blade directly stabbed in, cutting a hole through the door.
Before either could walk in, they picked up Silencer Guns and started firing a barrage inside.
Then, they entered the room one after the other.
As soon as they entered, they seemed to sense something, turned around, and saw a dark figure standing at the doorway, draped in black Armor. On seeing him, both were momentarily stunned. How could it be him?
However, the thought lasted only a moment, as the carrier’s blade slashed down, blood spraying as both heads flew off, helmets included.
The carrier’s left arm emitted Energy Light toward the bodies and heads, and under the horrific Energy Light, the bodies disappeared.
People waiting downstairs waited a moment; seeing no movement above and losing contact, two more went upstairs, saw the breach in the room, and stepped inside.
A dark blur flashed by, and before they could see clearly, they were cut down and killed on the spot.
The others realized something was wrong as two more communications were lost. They lifted the signal block of the area, but were shocked to find there still was no signal.
“Hiss hiss…” At various locations in Future City District, cameras malfunctioned simultaneously, all destroyed, and at the same time, a powerful Energy Wave enveloped the Future City District, blocking the signal inside.
Xu Mo’s carrier stepped outside, resembling a fierce god.
Conrad had lost all scruples.
What do you think?
