Chapter 915 - 909: Embrace the Demon God
Chapter 915: Chapter 909: Embrace the Demon God
Under the joint assault of Daphne and the Gluttonous Beast, a Calamity Mystery Tree, formidable enough to alarm legendary powerhouses and demand cautious handling from a Celestial Beastmaster, fell in less than half an hour.
“Zzzt.”
Gazing at the several dozen charred-tree-like bodies before her, Daphne’s body emanated streaks of silver lightning, and her already surging Normal Arcane Force Value received a considerable boost.
“Meow.” (What a pity.)
Daphne regretfully opened her eyes.
The feedback from eradicating a calamity had once allowed it to advance several small grades and even an entire level when it was a Class VII Overlord.
...
But now that Daphne had reached the strength of a Class VIII Emperor, unless she could complete the Trial of Removing Filth,
mere feedback from eradicating a single Calamity Mysterious Beast could, at most, allow it to take a big step within the lower-level Class VIII.
For an advancement to middle-level Class VIII, it would need to eradicate another calamity.
Thinking this, Daphne’s eyes turned towards the deeper parts of the Mystery Zone, trying to use the skill “Comply With Heaven’s Will” to sense the specific location details of the surrounding Mysterious Beasts.
“Roar.” (These don’t look tasty at all.)
The Gluttonous Beast, showing a look of disdain, did not devour with its mouth this time but instead released Infinite Integration toward the Soul Weaving Paulownia using the blood-red Aries horns as a medium.
“Buzz!”
As a torrent of pitch-black Arcane Force flowed into the Gluttonous Beast’s horns, a colossal Mechanical Torrent started to emerge where it stood.
In the next instant, roaring mechanical parts wriggled and rotated, gradually assembling into an imposing mechanical giant tree under David Jones’s astonished look.
Its body was massive, and every leaf on its canopy flickered with a cold metallic luster, constantly emitting deep and powerful mechanical roars.
“Profile” Name: Mech-breaking Paulownia
Type: Machinery
Strength: Lower-level Class VIII
“Profile”: This being has been reanimated in the form of a mecha as the Mech-breaking Paulownia, possessing 90% of the Soul Weaving Paulownia’s strength in life.
“Roar.” (So weak.)
The Gluttonous Beast slapped the Mech-breaking Paulownia, its eyes holding a hint of disdain.
In life, the Soul Weaving Paulownia was a Calamity Mysterious Beast capable of slaying legends all by itself, even contending against Celestial Pets with its undying nature.
The Mech-breaking Paulownia resurrected by the Gluttonous Beast’s machinery, however, had lost the Mysterious Beast’s undying nature and retained only the strength of a lower-level Class VIII Emperor.
Such strength might be enough to bully ordinary Emperors but was sheer folly to think of facing a Calamity Mysterious Beast or Remilia Wanton, the big sister from Rainbow.
“A lower-level Class VIII Emperor may not be all that useful, but imagine if you had tens or even hundreds of Class VIII Emperors to launch a combined attack—who could stand against you then!” David Jones patted the Gluttonous Beast’s shoulder, beginning to entice it with grand visions.
After all, releasing a Mechanical Torrent didn’t require the Gluttonous Beast to expend a tremendous amount of Arcane Force!
The only cost involved was the material devoured by Infinite Integration.
Indeed, the material absorbed by the Gluttonous Beast’s Infinite Integration had two uses: one was to digest and absorb the material as its own power source, and the other was to rejuvenate the absorbed material into minions.
Although it could only choose one and not both, without a doubt, the power the Gluttonous Beast devoured would always accompany it, just in a different form.
At these words, the Gluttonous Beast’s eyes gleamed for a moment, then quickly dimmed.
It too wanted to compensate for lack of quality with quantity!
But there were only a handful of Class VIII Emperors in the world, and even if it searched the Savage Wasteland for three to five years, it might not encounter a few Class VIII Emperors, let alone gather hundreds to form an Emperor Legion.
“One must always have dreams; what if they come true?”
Patting the Gluttonous Beast’s head, David Jones activated Glimpse the Future toward the depths of the Mystery Zone.
“Just as I thought, I still can’t see any images of the future.”
David Jones narrowed his eyes slightly, ceasing the use of his Golden Eyes of Flame.
…
On the other side, in the office of the headmaster of Phoenix College.
Eudes Harrison looked at Remilia Wanton with a complex expression and asked, “Why?”
“Headmaster, what’s wrong?” she asked, puzzled.
“There is no point in lying before the Benevolent Sage Sparrow.” Eudes Harrison took out a Vermilion Bird Statue and placed it in front of his desk.
“Tell me, why did you betray Phoenix College and choose to cooperate with the Evil Soul Sect?”
“Is it in pursuit of a longer lifespan, an Undying Body, or that elusive Immortal Level!” Eudes stared directly at Remilia Wanton.
In his view, these were the few conditions that could sway a Celestial Beastmaster of the Evil Soul Sect.
Remilia Wanton’s face revealed a smile of relief, “Actually, I didn’t intend to hide it from you all.”
“What do you mean?” Eudes Harrison frowned, sensing that things were taking an unexpected turn.
“To live long without dying is to be a thief; I have no pursuit of longevity.” Remilia Wanton crossed her right leg as she sat on the chair, “I was born in a time of war, witnessing the death of friends and family, the one thing I aspire to in this life is world peace.”
Hearing this, Eudes Harrison frowned even more.
Absurd!
How could a malevolent sect that torments living beings claim any connection with peace?
“Indeed, Eudes, you won’t believe me.” Remilia smiled, tapping her temple with her finger.
“Had it not been for the awakening of an Innate Talent that should not have been awakened, I, too, would have never imagined a sect leader to be a so-called seeker of peace.”
“I can’t comprehend your statements and actions,” Eudes said slowly as he stood up. The Star Ring on his finger emitted a bizarre black radiance with polychromatic streaks; he did not wish to continue this futile conversation anymore.
“Time will prove everything.” Remilia extended her hands on the table and said serenely, “But there’s no doubt that I have betrayed Phoenix College. There’s no need for you to act; I am willing to surrender and accept my punishment.”
As she spoke, Remilia looked into the distance, “Headmaster, could I discuss one thing with you? It would be too much of a waste for a Deity level Trainer to die in a cell. It would be better if I could serve as the vanguard of the god-slaying project, to die a death worthy of my station.”
At these words, Eudes Harrison fell silent.
He could clearly feel Remilia’s desire to die, but the more he felt it, the less he could understand her actions.
“I am sorry, but you should know the significance of the Heavenly Vermilion Bird to Phoenix College, as well as the importance of the god-slaying project.”
“Until the truth comes to light, I can no longer trust you,” Eudes Harrison stated frankly.
“I understand.”
Remilia gave a faint smile, allowing Eudes to seal her arcane force and took off the Star Ring on her finger.
“A professional will be responsible for the later interrogation; don’t you die on me,” Eudes said, turning to leave the office.
“Headmaster, are you truly not the least bit interested in the peace I speak of?” Remilia asked.
“These are nothing but the Evil Soul Sect’s tricks and specters,” Eudes sighed softly, “Even an Immortal Trainer who could suppress an era wouldn’t dare to recklessly speak the word ‘peace,’ let alone that group of rats lurking in the shadows, too afraid to show their faces in the daylight.”
“What if the Sacred Soul Sect has already researched a method to counter the Semi-Fiend?” Remilia reminded.
“Impossible!” Eudes declared categorically.
Even the talent-packed Research Division of the Federation of Trainer Guilds has not been able to tackle this project; how could a mere malevolent sect achieve it?
“If one cannot fight against the darkness, then one must embrace it; so too the Demon Gods,” Remilia suggested meaningfully.
Eudes was startled in his heart.
What do you think?
