Chapter 84
Nie Yinzhi effortlessly lifted the bed, causing Gu Jiang to emerge from beneath it, covered in dust. He sat on the ground, disheveled, taking a moment to compose himself before speaking to her in a calm tone: "Is this the ability of the Blood Clan?"
"I think so," Nie Yinzhi replied, feeling somewhat embarrassed as she crouched down to gently pat the dust off his back. "I haven't quite figured it out yet."
Gu Jiang nodded. "You'd better figure it out soon. If something like this happens outside, you know the consequences, right?"
"Mm-hmm, I know," she assured him.
Gu Jiang turned to look at her, a sudden smile playing on his lips. "If the master of the contract dies, wouldn't the blood slave be free?"
Nie Yinzhi froze, taken aback, and took a few steps back, sitting down on the ground. "Don't be rash! Killing is illegal!"
"Are you still considered human now?" Gu Jiang asked, his lips curling into a leisurely grin.
Nie Yinzhi quickly pulled out her ID card, holding it up. "I'm still legally recognized as a human, so killing me would land you in prison for life."
She paused, then quickly recovered her composure. Her demeanor shifted, and she leaned closer, her lashes fluttering like butterfly wings as she assessed the disheveled man before her. "I'm not just some ordinary weak woman, you know. I'm at least a vampire. If we fought, you wouldn't stand a chance."
Nie Yinzhi reached out and gripped the bed leg, lifting the entire bed with one hand, her face calm and composed.
Gu Jiang: "..." He rubbed his shoulder, recalling the force with which she had pressed down on it earlier. It still hurt when he touched it. Gu Jiang opened his collar to reveal a purplish bruise shaped like a palm print on his shoulder.
Nie Yinzhi glanced at his shoulder, then quietly said, "I'm sorry. Should I massage it for you?"
"Put the bed down before you talk," he replied.
...
Nie Yinzhi didn't get the chance to massage Gu Jiang's shoulder, and he certainly didn't dare let her touch him.
"I have night shoots today, so I can't mess around with you tonight anymore. You—" Gu Jiang turned back to look at her as he left, his tone half-joking, half-serious. "Please, be merciful, Master."
The warm yellow light from the hallway lamps bathed the area, and Gu Jiang's pajama collar was tightly fastened, all the way up to the top button. A faint trace of blood still clung to the fabric. Having lost so much blood recently, his face was as pale as porcelain, his sharp jawline smudged with dried blood. She hadn't managed to lick it clean that time.
Nie Yinzhi's heart skipped a beat, and she pursed her lips. "Okay."
Her assistant returned with breakfast, only to find Nie Yinzhi standing by the door, lost in thought. The assistant groaned, "Missy, haven't you even washed up yet?"
Nie Yinzhi snapped out of her daze and quickly darted into the bathroom.
The bloodstains on the bed were explained away as a menstrual accident, which left her assistant puzzled as she counted the days. "Isn't it not that time yet?"
"Stress. Hormonal imbalance," Nie Yinzhi blurted out, making up excuses on the spot.
The result was that she ended up drinking brown sugar ginger tea for a week.
Nie Yinzhi had an acting coach accompanying her. During the day, she shot her scenes, and during breaks, she worked with the coach to study the script and rehearse. Her free time was scarce.
It's unclear whether it was her intense immersion in her role, her determination to prove herself, or simply having quenched her thirst that morning, but Nie Yinzhi didn't experience the same intense craving for blood for several days.
Naturally, she didn't see Gu Jiang during that time.
During her breaks, Nie Yinzhi searched online for various foods and medicinal remedies that could help with blood nourishment. She meticulously printed out instructions on how to prepare them and packed everything into a box, though she never had the chance to give them to him.
The Blood Clan's heritage was ingrained in their bloodline, like a rabbit instinctively eating grass or a tiger hunting its prey. The documents stored in the basement of her ancestral home were mostly related to familial and worldly matters, with very little written record of the Blood Clan itself.
Nie Yinzhi's awakening allowed her to gradually and naturally start mastering the abilities inherent to vampires.
She could transform into a bat or a cat, reach out and summon objects from a distance, and her need for sleep began to decrease, eventually disappearing altogether. During the dead of night, when everyone was resting, she would transform into a cat and experiment with teleporting to the farthest distances she could reach.
In short, she had a lot of fun experimenting by herself.
After about seven or eight days, Nie Yinzhi finally started craving blood again.
At that moment, she was wandering across the roofs of the movie studio, transformed into a cat. The desire for blood struck her, and she quickly returned to the hotel, plopped down on the bed, and pulled out her phone.
She hadn't received a message from Gu Jiang, so he was probably still sound asleep, not yet woken by the pain.
Nie Yinzhi sent a message: "I'm hungry. I'm coming to see you."
She transformed into a cat, strapped her phone to herself, and leaped out the window. Her black form darted across the skyline, teleporting hundreds of meters away in an instant.@@novelbin@@
Before he left, Gu Jiang had told her the hotel and room number where he was staying. Nie Yinzhi had scouted the area several times over the past few days, so she knew exactly where to go.
She squeezed through a partially open window, but got stuck halfway.
Inside, it was pitch dark. She heard Gu Jiang groan in his sleep, clearly in discomfort.
Gu Jiang woke up to the pain, reached for his phone, and saw Nie Yinzhi's message. He replied: "Hurry up."
As soon as he sent the message, a chime rang out from behind the curtain, accompanied by a faint meow.
Gu Jiang looked up toward the window, rubbed his hair, and stepped barefoot onto the floor to pull back the curtain.
In the moonlight, a black cat was stuck in the window frame, looking up at him and meowing. There was also a phone strapped to its back. If it weren't for the pain coursing through his body, Gu Jiang might have thought he was dreaming. After all, this was the thirteenth floor.
Little kitty, don't move, or you'll fall," Gu Jiang coaxed softly, cautiously reaching out to scratch its head. When the cat half-closed its eyes in comfort, he quickly grabbed the scruff of its neck and pulled it into the room.
The phone cord got caught on something and snapped, causing the device to tumble from the cat's back and fall toward the ground.
Nie Yinzhi's eyes widened in alarm. She suddenly transformed into her human form while in Gu Jiang's grip, using her telekinetic powers to catch the phone, letting out a breath of relief.
Gu Jiang was utterly unprepared for the cat in his arms to suddenly transform into a person, nearly causing her to break his waist.
He lay there on the carpet, utterly defeated. "Just drain me dry already. Let me die and be done with it."
Nie Yinzhi: "..." Without a word, she grabbed his hand and bit into it, then licked the small wound. "Does it still hurt?"
"My back hurts," Gu Jiang replied, sounding like a lifeless fish.
Nie Yinzhi quickly helped him up and placed him on the bed, her hands moving to his back. "Here?"
Gu Jiang tensed for a moment, then relaxed, letting out a soft hum.
Nie Yinzhi massaged him for quite a while. By the time Gu Jiang was about to fall asleep again, she patted him. "Don't fall asleep. I've only had a small sip."
Gu Jiang drowsily began to undo his buttons.
Nie Yinzhi: "..." She watched as he opened his collar, revealing his neck. She leaned down, gently nuzzling and sniffing his neck. There was a cold, mysterious fragrance on Gu Jiang, mixed with the sweet scent of his blood.
Nie Yinzhi lingered on his neck for a long time, sniffing and licking, making sure she wouldn't lose control again before finally biting down carefully.
Gu Jiang's sleepiness had long since vanished under her prolonged preamble. Moreover, his body was reacting in ways that were far from normal. When he lifted his hand, wanting to push her away, the sharp teeth punctured his skin, and his resistance faltered.
Nie Yinzhi caught his hand and pressed it into the bed.
This time, she drank carefully and restrained, genuinely afraid of causing him to become anemic. Once she had satisfied her craving, she licked the wound closed, cleaning up every last drop of blood from his neck.
Nie Yinzhi sat up satisfied, only to realize something was amiss beneath her.
She blinked, her face turning crimson as she jumped off him. "You..."
Gu Jiang lay there, completely unashamed, not bothering to hide anything. "When a vampire takes an interest in their blood slave, their saliva secretes substances that have an aphrodisiac effect."
Nie Yinzhi: "???" What the hell? Was that her fault now?
She opened her mouth, but couldn't argue, because as soon as he said that, she instinctively understood it, as if it were common sense. Gu Jiang was right.
Gu Jiang glanced at her, naturally not telling her that he had already been acting strangely before she even bit him. It was her constant licking that made it hard for any normal man to resist.
Nie Yinzhi nervously paced in circles, teleporting the various tonics and supplements she had prepared at the hotel into the room. She untangled a scarlet amber pendant from the bag and handed it to him. "You take this. There's a teleportation spell inside it. If I ever crave blood again, I can use it to teleport directly to your side, or teleport you here, no matter how far apart we are."
Filming usually took only a few months, with crews inevitably moving from place to place—not staying in one locale like Hengdian. If their schedules were misaligned and they ended up in different locations, it would be quite troublesome.
Gu Jiang sat up, propping his legs against the mattress as he accepted the pendant. "Isn't this your family heirloom?" he asked.
Nie Yinzhi was surprised. "You know about that?" It was more of a fan joke, as she never took off the necklace, making it appear frequently in her scenes. Rumors even claimed it was meant for Nie Jia's future son-in-law. "So you'd better hide it well. If anyone sees it, we'll never be able to explain ourselves away."
After saying this, she quickly glanced down, then said, "You deal with your stuff. I'm leaving." In the next moment, she transformed into a bat and flew out the window.
Gu Jiang watched her go, then looked at the pendant in his hand. He gently pinched the blood-red teardrop-shaped amber. "Still trying to cut ties with me, huh?"
Halfway through her flight, Nie Yinzhi suddenly remembered she had left her phone behind. She flapped back to the window, landing on the sill. Just as she was about to tap on the glass to slip inside, she heard suppressed sounds coming from within.
The little bat clung to the window, struggling with her dilemma. She really didn't want to listen in on something private, but her vampire hearing was simply too sharp.
Nie Yinzhi hung from the windowsill, swaying in the high-rise wind. After what felt like an eternity, she finally heard footsteps heading toward the bathroom, followed by the sound of running water.
Seizing the opportunity, she slipped into the room and spotted two phones side by side on the nightstand. She grabbed hers and darted back out.
After Gu Jiang finished showering and came out, his gaze paused on the nightstand. Picking up his phone, he sent a WeChat message: "Did you take your phone?"
After a long while, the reply came: a picture of a nodding cat emoji.
What do you think?
