The air in the Grimheart's training grounds crackled with anticipation. Da stood in the observation booth, his hands clenched, watching as Kai, one of Paul Grimheart's most formidable bodyguards, prepared for the test battle. Kai was a mountain of a man, his muscles bulging beneath a tight-fitting combat suit. His Azure Bronze level ranking meant he was a significant threat, and his Steel Body talent amplified his already impressive defenses.

"Are you ready?" Paul Grimheart asked, his voice devoid of emotion. He stood beside Da, observing the scene with a keen interest.

"Ready as I'll ever be," Da replied, his gaze fixed on the battlefield. He had carefully calibrated Fireboy for this test, optimizing its systems for close-quarters combat. Kai's Steel Body was a serious challenge; it would require precision and overwhelming force to overcome.

On the battlefield, Fireboy stood patiently, its metallic form gleaming under the harsh spotlights. The Firestone thrummed steadily within its core, a source of power that Da knew could be unleashed with devastating effect.

"Begin," Paul commanded.

The battle began instantly. Kai, a blur of motion, charged toward Fireboy. His Steel Body granted him incredible resilience, allowing him to withstand heavy blows and shrug off lesser attacks.

Da, in the cockpit, swiftly reacted to Kai's assault. He engaged the servo-motors, allowing Fireboy to pivot and meet Kai's charge.

"System, initiate energy blade!" Da ordered.

The energy blade hissed into existence, a crackling plasma blade of pure fire energy.

Kai met Fireboy's charge head-on. He threw a punch at the mech's chest, aiming to exploit any weaknesses. The blow landed with a thunderous crash, the impact sending tremors through Fireboy's frame. The alloy plating held firm, but Da could feel the force of the attack, the pressure that threatened to crush the internal systems.

"Analyze attack vector," Da said, his voice calm despite the intensity of the moment. "Steel Body confirmed."

He moved to counterattack, swinging the energy blade in a wide arc. The blade whistled through the air, aiming to cleave through Kai's defenses.

Kai, with his enhanced reflexes, skillfully evaded the blow, dodging the blade by inches. He knew the power of this new weapon and wouldn't be taken by surprise.

"Maintain distance, create opening," Da said, pushing the Fireboy away from the close quarters.

The battle raged. Kai, relying on his superior physical strength and speed, moved in close, attempting to overwhelm Fireboy with a barrage of punches and kicks. The energy pistol discharged a concentrated blast of energy at Kai, forcing him to retreat momentarily. Da used this opportunity to back away and create some distance, buying himself time to recover and evaluate.

Kai, sensing an opening, charged forward again. This time, he aimed for the Fireboy's legs, aiming to trip it and bring the mech down.

Da was prepared. He twisted Fireboy's body, countering the attack and maintaining his balance.

He focused, pushing Fireboy to its limits. He had to end this quickly. The longer the battle dragged on, the more the mech was at risk. Kai was a formidable opponent.

"System, fire energy blade, level up!" Da commanded.

The blade flared, bathing the arena in a brilliant light. The blade now had twice its original power.

Da then moved. He anticipated Kai's movements, reacting to his attacks with precision and skill. He brought the energy blade down in a swift strike, aiming for the joints of Kai's arm.

The blade connected, severing Kai's arm in a shower of sparks. Kai roared in pain and staggered backward, clutching the bleeding stump.

In the observation booth, Paul Grimheart's expression was impassive. He had watched the entire battle with a detached interest.

Da exhaled, relief washing over him. He had proven that Fireboy was a force to be reckoned with.

"What's next?" Da asked, his gaze meeting Paul's.

"We proceed," Paul said, a flicker of something that resembled a smile touching his lips. "You have shown me Fireboy's capabilities. Now, we have a job for it."
