Chapter 3 - The First Steps to Power
Alexander sat in his study, the thick folder of documents spread before him. The hotel chain, Lancaster Luxury Resorts, had been a prestigious brand a decade ago. Now, it was barely afloat. Plagued by poor management, outdated marketing strategies, and a reputation tainted by declining service quality, it was no wonder his father had chosen this as his first test.
But Alexander saw what others didn’t—a golden opportunity.
He took a deep breath and activated the Wealth System. "System, analyze the problems with Lancaster Luxury Resorts."
A screen appeared before him.
System Analysis:
-
Poor Management: Corrupt executives siphoning funds.
-
Outdated Marketing: Lack of social media presence and modern strategies.
-
Declining Customer Satisfaction: Untrained staff and outdated facilities.
-
Inefficient Cost Structure: High operational costs reducing profitability.
-
Wasted Real Estate: Prime locations underutilized.
Alexander’s eyes narrowed. This wasn’t just mismanagement—it was sabotage. Someone had intentionally run this company into the ground.
"System, estimate the required funds and time to turn the company around."
Estimated Capital Required: $10 million
Timeframe: 3 months (if optimized with Wealth System skills)
He had only $100,000 in liquid funds. Not enough.
"Alright," he muttered. "If I don’t have enough, I’ll make enough."
First, he needed control. As of now, Lancaster was just a subsidiary, meaning he had limited authority. But his father had given him free rein. He needed to consolidate power, remove the parasites bleeding the company dry, and set a foundation for profitability.
Alexander leaned back in his chair, his mind racing with possibilities.
"System, are there any skills I can unlock that will help?"
Available Skills:
-
Financial Acumen (1,000 Wealth Points) – Enhances business insight, allowing host to detect financial discrepancies instantly.
-
Negotiation Domination (2,000 Wealth Points)
– Improves persuasion, giving a significant advantage in deal-making. -
Market Manipulation (5,000 Wealth Points) – Allows host to foresee economic trends and predict market fluctuations.
He had no Wealth Points yet, but he would earn them soon enough. First, he needed investors.
The Investor Hunt
Alexander arrived at Sinclair Holdings the next morning, stepping into the boardroom where the Lancaster executives awaited him. The moment he entered, several men exchanged skeptical glances.
"Gentlemen," he greeted, taking his seat at the head of the table. "Let’s cut to the chase. Lancaster is dying, and you all know it. If we don’t act now, it will collapse within the year. I intend to save it."
A man with graying hair and an expensive suit scoffed. "With all due respect, Mr. Sinclair, you’re young. You have no experience running a business. Your father may have put you in charge, but we answer to the shareholders."
Alexander smirked. "Then it’s a good thing I intend to make them very rich."
The room fell silent.
"Lancaster’s problem isn’t just poor management. It’s a lack of innovation. The hotel industry has changed, yet you’re operating like it’s still the 90s. We will modernize. We will renovate. We will introduce elite services and tech-driven experiences. And most importantly, we will cut out the rot bleeding this company dry."
Another executive, a younger man in his 40s, frowned. "And how do you plan to fund these changes? The board won’t approve major capital injections without proof of profitability."
Alexander smiled. "I’ll secure private investors willing to bet on this transformation. And in return, Lancaster will skyrocket in value within three months."
The executives exchanged uneasy glances.
"If I fail, you’ll lose nothing. If I succeed, you’ll all be wealthier than you ever imagined. Now tell me, gentlemen, do you like making money?"
Slowly, nods of agreement spread around the table.
Alexander leaned back. "Then let’s begin."
What do you think?
