The Tycoon's Enchanted Mermaid

Chapter 43: Do You Want to Take My Surname?

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Do You Want to Take My Surname?

Ah Da was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, suddenly remembering the action Su Qingtong had done to her last time. She quickly condensed Spiritual Power in her fingertips and climbed onto the bed to inject it into his brow.

She couldn’t care less at that point, pouring a great deal of Spiritual Power into him until droplets of sweat beaded on her forehead and her fingers trembled slightly.

In his dream, Qin Yu was suspended in midair, looking coldly at everything around him. He was very aware that he was dreaming, but he couldn’t break free. The scenes from his memory twisted and deformed over and over until they turned into endless darkness.

The pungent smell of gasoline mixed with the odor of blood, wrapped in waves of heat, kept assaulting him.

Cold and scorching heat alternated back and forth.

The woman’s pale, shattered face flickered in and out of the darkness. Sometimes she smiled, sometimes she cried, sometimes she was pleading, sometimes she was scolding fiercely. Despite her face being broken beyond recognition, Qin Yu could still identify her, because he had witnessed her look like this with his own eyes.

...

Qin Huaiming was actually right; he did indeed suffer sequelae from the car accident—every time the night was quiet and he closed his eyes, he could see the scene of his mother’s head shattered.

Later, he often kept his eyes open until dawn.

Over time, it turned into insomnia.

When he had insomnia, he rarely thought of it, but as his sleep improved, the scene of the car accident presented itself before his eyes in a different way.

It was a dream.

The dream tormented him, but suddenly a cold stream broke through the darkness. Snowy light sprinkled onto his face, everything began to dissipate, and his consciousness gradually gathered back together.

Ah Da used up all her strength until Qin Yu’s tightly furrowed brows finally relaxed, and only then did she withdraw her hand.

“Should be okay now, right?”

Ah Da knelt beside him, leaning in close and staring at him unblinkingly, her heartbeat racing fast as if drumming inside her chest because it was also her first time using Spiritual Power to help someone, and she didn’t know whether she had done it right or not.

Fortunately, things stabilized.

Ah Da was delighted, turning to pull out two tissues, and carefully wiped the sweat from his forehead and cheeks.

Qin Yu’s skin was delicate and smooth, flushed with a pale red from the nightmare. With his eyes closed, his eyelashes rested on his eyelids, and his thin lips were pressed into a straight line. Qin Yu, peacefully asleep, felt less distant than his cold and assertive self during the day.

Ah Da was very gentle, not daring to apply too much pressure.

He seemed to have said something in his sleep just now…

Ah Da recalled that once before he had had a nightmare like this and had reflexively grabbed and hurt her.

Why was he always having nightmares? Had something bad happened to him in the past?

Lost in her thoughts, Ah Da didn’t notice that Qin Yu on the bed had already opened his eyes and was watching her.

“Ah, you’re awake?” Ah Da said with surprise, her hand halting on his forehead.

Qin Yu’s eyes were as dark as the night, and he said nothing.

“You were having a nightmare just now, so I came to see,” Ah Da softly explained to him in a tender and obedient voice, “Do you feel any better now, or should I go down and inform Uncle Wen?”

Qin Yu stared at her face, which was as white and pure as jade, then suddenly caught her hand and pulled it down.

“Ah!”

The young girl let out a startled cry, her eyes wide and round like those of a frightened kitten, as she fell straight onto his chest, her impact soft and weightless.

Ah Da quickly tried to get up, supporting herself on her hands, but a strong hand pressed against her lower back, applying just enough force to curve her spine, forcing her body to be close, the fiery warmth of their skin crossing through the thin blanket and their clothes, directly reddening her ears, throwing her thoughts into chaos, unsure of what to do.

“Qin Yu…”

The young girl called his name, laced with urgency and fear.

“Don’t move.”

Qin Yu, with his eyes closed, rested his head on her shoulder near her ear, half his face buried in her hair. He inhaled gently and said, “Don’t be afraid, let me hold you for a while.”

He said not to move, so Ah Da didn’t dare to move anymore, her body stiff as he held her, completely clueless about how to react. Her two small hands were squeezed between their chests, finding no place to rest.

The bedroom was silent, with two heartbeats intertwining.

After a long time, Ah Da tentatively asked in a quivering voice, “Is it… is it okay now…”

Qin Yu slowly opened his eyes. The little girl’s ears, hidden in a mass of black hair, had turned bright red, and her body trembled gently in his arms. His right hand rested on her soft, boneless waist, alarmingly slender, his fingertips already touching the edge.

He had still overestimated himself, Qin Yu thought.

Ah Da, waiting without receiving his response, started to feel anxious. How much longer was he planning to hold her?

“Why do you smell so good?”

“What?” Ah Da’s small pale face showed surprise, her cluelessness rendering her speechless, unsure of how to respond.

Qin Yu let go and sat up, straightening the little girl, too. The sweet scent of her body filled the air around them. Meeting her bewildered, clear eyes, he suddenly said, “I’ll take you to get an ID card tomorrow. What name would you like?”

Ah Da was repeatedly surprised, her thoughts couldn’t keep up with Qin Yu’s, and she instinctively blurted out without thinking.

“Ah Da.”

Qin Yu let out a low chuckle, his fingers pinching her small chin. The pads of his fingertips slowly grazed her soft flesh, “A full name.”

Ah Da realized what he meant and asked excitedly, “Does that mean once I have an ID card, I won’t be unregistered anymore? I can freely go outside without getting caught?”

“That’s right,” Qin Yu let go and leaned back, looking lazy. His pajama collar was askew, revealing a sexy clavicle, glistening with sweat.

Ah Da’s eyes were unconsciously drawn to it. His skin was so white, his chest broad and firm. When she’d leaned against him earlier, it was totally uncomfortable, sharp enough to make her elbows hurt—it was completely different from her soft front.

“What are you looking at?”

Qin Yu stood up and approached, their noses barely a millimeter apart, their breaths intertwining.

The caught Ah Da, emboldened, reached out her finger and poked his clavicle, then under his gaze, she moved it up. In the middle of his neck was a small round protrusion that rolled up and down. This was also different from her; she didn’t have it.

Qin Yu allowed her to play with fire on his body. Initially, he found it amusing and casually took her in, incidentally as a “live cure” for insomnia, but now she was increasingly presumptuous.

Ah Da looked up at him, her eyes clear but puzzled, and she replied softly, “I’m looking here. This is different from mine. Look, it can move.”

Qin Yu: “…”

If it didn’t move, he would be dead.

“Let’s go back to talking about names,” Qin Yu sighed, grabbing her mischievous little paw and pressing it down.

Ah Da tried to pull her hand back but was held tightly. She gave up and said, “I don’t know, I only know my name is Ah Da.”

“Does it mean I can’t be called Ah Da after I get my ID card?”

If she really had to change her name, Ah Da felt somewhat sad. This name had been with her for over a thousand years and had become a part of her.

Qin Yu suddenly smiled, lightly tapping her pale forehead, “A name; the first name is the family name, and the latter is the given name. For instance, Qin is my surname. Ah Da, at most, is a pet name.”

Ah Da didn’t understand the requirements for choosing names for an ID card, “Then… then I don’t know what to pick…” @@novelbin@@

“Keep the character ‘Da’, and maybe add a ‘Qing’,” he suggested.

Qingshan Yugao; near water bearing mist.

Qin Yu’s narrow, pitch-black eyes slightly narrowed, like a sovereign in the dark night, imposing and dismissive of all, he suddenly said.

“Ah Da, do you want to take my surname?”

Ah Da was stunned. What did taking his surname mean?
