Chapter 45: Settling Name and Identity in One Go
The morning sun rose, and Ah Da stumbled out of the door with Qin Yu, arriving punctually at the place to handle identification paperwork at nine o’clock. After taking photos and registering, the whole process was completed in less than half an hour.
Ah Da took the ID card in both hands and looked at the three characters on it, Su Qingdai, very seriously. From now on, this would be her name. She couldn’t help but silently read it to herself a few times in her heart.
With this thing, she was now a part of this world, truly existing, no longer just a residual soul unknown and unseen within the incense burner.
The young girl’s mouth held a hint of a smile, wearing a white t-shirt and blue-gray overalls, her soft long hair hanging down to her waist, her snow-white delicate face exquisite and ethereal, just standing there was a beautifully eye-catching scene.
The staff member who helped the young girl with her card couldn’t help but stare, stunned by the full-on beauty before them at such close range. Initially feeling sorry for the girl for being an orphan, they now suddenly felt it was needless worry.
So what if she’s an orphan? With such a god-given beautiful face, she could easily be an internet celebrity or a star, dealing a crushing blow to her peers.
Ah Da turned around to leave the queue and walked slowly in the hall.
The men and women passing by couldn’t help but glance at her, marveling at her looks, speculating about her identity, and discussing with the people beside them whether she could be a celebrity. Some couldn’t restrain their itching hands and lifted their phones to take pictures.
In a corner, a man just opened his camera when a large hand suddenly reached out and grabbed his phone. The man looked up sharply, and got quite a shock. A cold-faced bodyguard in a black suit had appeared before him without notice.
The bodyguard, muscles bulging and towering over the man, looked down at him from a height, grabbed the phone to check the gallery. During this time, the man didn’t dare to breathe.
Fearing trouble.
After checking, the bodyguard returned the phone to the man and warned him coldly, forbidding him to take pictures and spread them.
The trembling man nodded, bent over and scurried away.
The onlookers seeing this all reined in their curiosity, not daring to look blatantly at the breathtaking young girl anymore.
Ah Da grinned foolishly at her ID card for a while, then saw Qin Yu’s figure emerge from an inner door. She immediately trotted over to him in her shoes, happily holding it up to show him.
“Qin Yu, it’s done,” she said, “This is me.”
Qin Yu’s gaze swept over the ID card casually for a moment before immediately falling back on the young girl’s vivid face. He chuckled lightly, was such a small thing worth her being so happy about?
The young girl was too easily pleased, which made her easy to deceive. But no matter, he was there, no one would have the chance to trick her.
Qin Yu swept his gaze around the room casually. Everyone instinctively hushed, their breaths skipping several beats, daring not to look anymore.
This man was too intimidating, with an overwhelming aura.
Qin Yu withdrew his gaze and stretched out his hand to touch Ah Da’s head, smoothing down the tuft of hair that stood up in the process, “Let’s go, it’s noon. I’ll take you out for lunch.”
Ah Da smiled and agreed.
Only after the group had left did the hall return to its noisy state as if everyone had been set free.
Two girls chattered excitedly with each other.
One with a high ponytail clutched her friend’s shoulder, exclaiming, “The guy just now was so damn handsome, I was shocked. It’s the first time I’ve seen a man in a suit look so impressive, not at all like a typical insurance seller. Just his handsome looks and aristocratic vibe, I bet my life that he’s not from our entertainment industry. If he was, he would have been famous far and wide already, just based on his face alone.”
Her sister-in-arms, arms crossed, shook her head and sighed, “What do you think? His clothes are tailor-made. Ordinary people working their whole lives might not be able to afford even one. It’s heaven and earth difference compared to the guys selling insurance on the street. Did you notice that there were bodyguards following him? And they didn’t allow photographs. To travel with bodyguards, how rich must he be, tsk tsk, I can’t even imagine.”
“The ‘no photographs’ was for that girl, right? Super beautiful, and so pale, pale as if glowing. She looks so young, I think she might be his sister. Dammit, if they are really siblings, those family genes are out of this world, just amazing.”
The girl gazed at her skeptically, “Why do you think they’re siblings? Can’t they be boyfriend and girlfriend?”
“You saying that, I suddenly feel it’s a bit intriguing, and on second thought, if they were a couple, it would be even more incredible. The height difference alone would totally get me shipping them, such a handsome guy and a beautiful girl, a match made in heaven.”
The girl rolled her eyes, “You’re nuts.”
…
Ever since Su Qingtong secured the role of the second female lead in “Charming Heart Records,” her agent, Sister Liu, hadn’t stopped bragging. The company was also reconsidering whether to put her on ice or not.
Su Qingtong of course understood what was going on. Yesterday, when Jiang Tao was clamoring for her to pay the price, as soon as the stoic bodyguard stepped forward, Jiang Tao backed down and ended up saying with a smile that not only would he not pursue the matter, but he’d even willingly offer her the role.
Even though Su Qingtong, as a Sword Spirit, did not consider herself part of humanity, sometimes she couldn’t help but marvel at how damn realistic this world was, with people sizing each other up and acting accordingly.
Everyone was a bully when it suited them but cowardly when faced with strength; this time, she had little incense burner to thank for avoiding a whole lot of trouble.
Su Qingtong sat by the window, drinking her coffee and pondering about making a trip to that place. Perhaps she could uncover some clues about the little incense burner’s peculiar condition, after all, that place had many Old Heavenly Masters who had extensive experience with demons.
“Hahaha, great, great, Director Yang, rest assured, with your recognition, our Qingtong will definitely perform well.”
“Okay, you go on work first, let’s have a meal together when you’re available, great, great, absolutely.”@@novelbin@@
Before she could see her, Sister Liu’s booming voice was already audible.
Su Qingtong stood up, wanting to run away, but Sister Liu was quick to grab her, “What’s the rush? Sit down first, I haven’t finished talking.”
Su Qingtong, disinterested, “Then talk fast, I’ve got things to do and no time to argue with you.”
Sister Liu smiled, her eyes narrowing into slits, “I’m not arguing with you, Qingtong. You did extremely well this time. I heard from the director that the investors are particularly fond of you, and they’re even willing to offer you the leading actress role. Did you know that?”
Su Qingtong did indeed decline when Jiang Tao had offered her the lead role as compensation.
“I knew, I was the one who refused. What about it?”
Sister Liu said contentedly, “You did the right thing by not taking it. With your current qualifications and popularity, you can’t carry the lead in a big production. Even if you did, you would be questioned and talked about, ending up with a bunch of negative news. It would be a thankless task. Right now, the most important thing is to calm down and focus on acting, to build up quietly and burst forth.”
Su Qingtong smiled, not wanting to shatter Sister Liu’s beautiful illusion, and let her be.
“I got it, are you done talking? I’m leaving.”
Sister Liu stood up and held onto Su Qingtong, advising her, “Remember to keep in touch with that investor. The company is still weighing whether or not to put you on ice. Don’t lose this one and only chance.”
“Chance?” Su Qingtong shook her head, chuckling, “Sister Liu, you don’t really think I got the role because I slept with that pig-head, do you?”
Sister Liu, surprised, “Isn’t that it?”
If not for getting involved with him, why would Young Master Jiang be willing to offend Wang Qingyi for her sake and even give her a role? Men are like that, enjoying the thrill of a fling, seeking novelty.
Su Qingtong replied, “Of course not. Not only did I not sleep with him, but I also gave him a good beating last night.”
“Ah?” Sister Liu was flabbergasted.
What do you think?
