Chapter 83: Chapter 83: She’s Most Afraid of Pain
“You could pick a less busy time to go; maybe there will be fewer people on Monday. However, the Kyoto Museum always has a high visitor rate. It is the capital, after all, and there are lots of tourists.”
Su Qingtong then said, “Oh right, I almost forgot to tell you, the little girl talking to you in the video is a child internet celebrity with over ten million followers. The video went viral partly because of her.”
Ah Da realized: “So that’s why.”
No wonder both mother and daughter are so pretty.
Ah Da chatted with Su Qingtong intermittently.
It wasn’t until Song Ma came over to announce that dinner was ready, and Su Qingtong also said she had matters to attend to, that the phone call came to an end.
Just as she was getting up from the couch, there was noise from outside. Ah Da looked up and indeed saw Qin Yu coming inside from outdoors, followed by an unfamiliar man she hadn’t seen before.
“Third Young Master, what suddenly inspired you to move in here? Didn’t you say before that it was too far from the company?”
Wei Lan cheerfully followed behind Qin Yu, thinking this was his first time at Wuqiong Water Pavilion as well. This place had always been secretive, like a forbidden area. Outsiders only knew it belonged to Master Qin, but what it actually looked like inside, nobody knew.
This time, Wei Lan also got the opportunity to come in thanks to the Green Jade Incense Burner. To monopolize such a big plot of land as a private residence in the pricey Capital City was something only Qin Yu could pull off, especially since the best development plan for Luling Mountain Lake Heart Island in Wutong New District was to make it a national natural scenic area.
If it really had become a scenic area, it’s unknown how much money they could have made over the years—definitely an astronomical sum. It was only Qin Yu who could afford such a wasteful luxury to build a private residence and then not reside in it.
Qin Yu didn’t answer his question, but Wei Lan felt that an answer was no longer necessary.
When he saw a pretty young girl standing in front of the living room sofa, his smile froze on his face.
What the…
He wasn’t seeing things, right?
There was a stranger at Wuqiong Water Pavilion, and moreover, it was a girl. He couldn’t be sure he wasn’t being haunted in broad daylight, could he?
“Haven’t had dinner yet?”
Qin Yu walked up to Ah Da, asking her.
Ah Da shifted her gaze from the unfamiliar man and looked up at Qin Yu, shaking her head, “Not yet.”
She added, “I was just about to eat, and then you came back.”
Qin Yu had said last night that he’d be less busy from tomorrow on, and it seemed to be true; he had come back earlier today than the previous days.
He had returned before it even got dark.
The young girl was sweet and sticky, with her long hair braided into a messy plait resting on her shoulders and chest, a few wispy hairs by her forehead and the sides of her face, likely a result of having been lounging on the couch. At that moment, she looked incredibly well-behaved.
Qin Yu couldn’t help but reach out and touch the top of her head, in the process pushing down two strands of hair that were sticking up, and whispered, “Let’s go eat now, I’ll join you.”
“Okay.” Ah Da looked up, standing still as he touched her head. His palm was large, and its center was a bit warm.
She had wanted to ask him about the video, but on seeing the stranger, she decided to hold off.
Meanwhile, Wei Lan finally snapped out of his shock, hurriedly approaching, his eyes glued to the young girl, his voice uncontrollably excited, “Third Young Master, since when did your family acquire such a treasure? Where did she come from?”
Qin Yu didn’t look at him but merely took the young girl’s hand and headed toward the dining area. Wei Lan dawdled alongside, and when Qin Yu ignored him, he turned his attention to the girl.
“Hello, my name is Wei Lan, I’m a friend of Third Young Master. Little miss, what’s your name?”
Ah Da glanced past Qin Yu at him, “I’m not a little miss.” She was older than him, and older than Qin Yu as well.
“But she does not look old,” Wei Lan murmured softly, giving Qin Yu a somewhat suspicious look, “Is this girl underage?”
Qin Yu glanced at him coolly, and Wei Lan hastily straightened up, chuckling awkwardly, “Just kidding. With the friendship we’ve had since we were kids, I absolutely and unconditionally trust your character.”
They entered the restaurant and the three of them took their seats.
Wei Lan deliberately sat across from the two, his eyes hadn’t left Ah Da since they walked in. It wasn’t that he had any other intentions; he was just too surprised.
Remembering what Tang Bufan had hinted over the phone about Qin Yu having some situation, acting coy as if he wanted but was afraid to speak, Wei Lan had thought it was impossible. But, to his surprise, it turned out to be true.
The consensus in various circles of Capital City was that Master Qin, the Qin Family Master, showed no interest in women. When doing business or negotiating cooperation with him, it was taboo to use beautiful women to curry favor, even having them accompany for drinks was unacceptable.
Some said he was of high integrity, while others, bold enough to speculate behind his back, doubted if he had some physical defect.
Wei Lan knew that Qin Yu was just being true to his nature, plainly not interested, from the time they first met, he seemed indifferent to everything, showing no desire or interest.
His lack of desire was to the extent that it made people think he was cultivating immortality.
When the Qin family faced a crisis years ago, Qin Yu left for foreign lands. No one expected he would return from abroad to take control of the Qin empire, with ruthless and decisive methods, seemingly a born ruler.
In recent years, he had led the Qin enterprise in expanding and conquering new territories, advancing irresistibly. Many elders of the Capital City’s families both feared and admired him, with everyone wishing for such a successor.
The assertive ambition Qin Yu showed concerning power and interests starkly contrasted with his usual indifferent attitude toward women and material things, a very contradictory and distinctive difference.
However, now it seemed different.
Wei Lan scrutinized the girl sitting quietly across from him. Despite her youthful appearance, she was truly beautiful with her fair skin like a freshly peeled egg, smooth and delicate. Just by her looks alone, she was impeccable.
Most importantly, she gave off an unparalleled feeling of purity and cleanliness, like a pool of clear spring water in a mountain stream.
No wonder Qin Yu was hiding a treasure, Wei Lan thought to himself in admiration.
While Wei Lan was sizing up Ah Da, Ah Da was also sizing him up. The man appeared to be about the same age as Qin Yu, with slightly long hair combed to one side, messy on both sides. He wore a yellow floral print short-sleeve shirt, not all the buttons done up, a silver chain hung around his neck, and a metal feather clung close to his left cartilage.
His face… was indeed good-looking, it’s just that he seemed a bit strange, like a flamboyant butterfly.
Noticing that the girl kept staring at his ear, Wei Lan flashed a radiant smile, reaching up to take off the object on his ear and held it in his hand to show her, “This is an earring, you can take it off whenever you want, no need to pierce your ears.”
As he spoke, the girl’s pupils slightly dilated, and her cherry-red lips parted slightly, obviously surprised.
“Do you like this one?”
It was Qin Yu who asked, turning to Ah Da.
The girl leaned over to him, avoiding the person in question, and whispered softly, “I don’t like it. I thought he pierced his ear with the feather, it looks so painful.”
She feared pain the most.
With her nose wrinkled, Qin Yu did not expect her to think that way. He couldn’t help but curl his lips slightly and wrapped his arm loosely around her, his long fingers gently kneading the tender nape of her neck.
His voice was low and languid.
“The feather is just clipped on, but he actually does have pierced ears, not just one.”
Immediately, Ah Da’s bright eyes turned back to observe. Her eyesight was excellent, and indeed, without the feather earring attached, she could see three small holes on the uncovered part of his ear, round and slightly red. He really must be tolerant to pain, piercing three holes in his ear.
Resting his chin on his hand, Wei Lan seemed to read the meaning in her eyes and said with a laugh, “If I tell you that it didn’t hurt at all when I got them pierced, would you believe me?”
What do you think?
