Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Unpredictable
Late in the evening, Miss Ade realized that Qin Yu’s words were not only intended for her but also for Mrs. Song.
“Miss Ade, would you like some fruit?”
Like a savior flying over on colorful clouds, Mrs. Song arrived carrying a small plate piled high with various kinds of ripe fruit, juicy and appetizing to look at.
“Thank you, Mrs. Song.”
Miss Ade, with sparkling eyes of pure joy, leaned in to pick up a small fork and speared a piece of fruit to taste. The distinct sweetness of the pear burst forth in her mouth, masking all the other harsh and bitter flavors of regret, leaving only a sweet contentment.
After a satisfying meal, it was nearly eleven o’clock. Qin Yu had disappeared halfway through and Miss Ade paid him no mind.
According to their earlier agreement, even after her body recovered, she would still share a room with him.
Wherever the incense burner was, there she would be, but to Miss Ade, nowhere was as comfortable as her own little jade bed.
Upstairs, Miss Ade headed straight for the walk-in closet which, after a day’s worth of unpacking, was now filled with her clothes, shoes, and various daily necessities.
Each item in the colorful, wide range caught Miss Ade’s eye, making it hard for her to take it all in.
She flitted about like a butterfly among the flowers, rushing here and there excitedly. She checked out each item on the shelves until she was utterly exhausted.
Pulling a soft, lightweight blue silk dress from the sleepwear section of her wardrobe, she planned for a soothing bath, having developed a fondness, or rather obsession, for the sensation of being submerged in water.
As Miss Ade walked out with her clothes, ready for her bath, she stopped abruptly when she saw a tall, robust figure standing next to the bed, her eyes widening.
Qin Yu was unbuttoning his shirt, down to the last button; his strong, well-defined torso faintly visible. His broad shoulders and narrow waist, the clear lines of his musculature, sent a warmth flooding to Miss Ade’s ears.
The key was that Qin Yu, upon seeing her emerge, continued his movements unabashedly, as if he intended to strip off his shirt entirely.
Miss Ade dared not look longer and, lowering her head, hurried to the bathroom, calling out, “I’m going to take a bath, might be a while.”
Qin Yu watched her hurried retreat with a smirk, then threw his shirt on the bed, picked up a bathrobe from nearby, turned the handle, and walked out of the room.
Miss Ade filled the bathtub with water, which was big enough to completely submerge under. Unbraiding her braids and dousing herself with cool water, she lay down in the tub, closing her eyes and letting the water rise over her nose.
If anyone had come in at that moment, they would have seen the still figure in the tub, her black hair spreading out like ink staining water.
Miss Ade lingered in the bathroom for almost an hour before finally getting up to towel off, get dressed, and dry her hair.
Finishing her routine, she tip-toed to the door, paused with her hand on the knob, leaned in to listen for noise, and cautiously pressed down on the handle to pull open a crack, peeking out.
No one was in sight.
Qin Yu was not in the room.
Miss Ade breathed a sigh of relief, opened the door cautiously, and stepped out, observing the silent room illuminated only by the light.
He must have gone to another room to bathe, right?
That would be best.
Happy, Miss Ade stretched and, spotting the luxurious bed in front of her, was suddenly struck by a thought to roll around on it before Qin Yu returned, to see how soft it was.
Just as she was about to lift her foot, a large hand descended onto her shoulder, perhaps because she felt guilty contemplating mischief, she was startled, turned too quickly, and collided straight into the man’s solid chest.
“Ouch…”
Miss Ade cried out in pain, covering her nose, tears welling up and spilling over, a few pearls dislodged and rolled across the floor.
Qin Yu, fresh from his bath and entering the room, saw the young lady standing tenderly by the bed, not moving, lost in thought. Approaching to check on her, he hadn’t anticipated such an intense reaction from her.
She bumped into something and hurt herself, then lowered her head and sniffled softly.
Qin Yu frowned, reaching out to lift her face to check, and saw her nose tip was red and her eyes were welling up with tears as she looked at him, appearing pitiful as if she had been bullied.
“Why turn around in such a hurry?”
The man’s large palm confined the back of the young girl’s head, as he scolded her while helping her rub her nose.
Ah Da naturally enjoyed his care, and her cherry-red lips were busy too, instantly seizing the opportunity to escalate the situation.
“It’s all because you walk so silently and suddenly grabbed my shoulder, scaring me.”
The young girl, dressed in a nightgown, revealed half an exposed shoulder and a slender, snow-white leg. Her thick, black hair cascaded down to her waist and hips, as soft as fine satin.
Her face was exquisitely beautiful, her features picturesque, with a small nose and mouth while her eyes were both dark and bright, as clear as water, always looking innocent and naive.
Implicitly, it was all his fault.
This was already unreasonable, so Qin Yu instead pinched her small chin and asked her, “What do you want to do?”
Ah Da blinked, not expecting to achieve her goal so easily, hesitated a moment, then said, “I want to go out tomorrow, let the driver take me.”
Qin Yu had guessed she wanted to go out, given her restless nature, perhaps she had been planning to find those three antiques, but due to being physically small and having weak Spiritual Power, she had to stay put.
She tasted the sweet today.
But she was too inept at concealing it, all her thoughts displayed on her face, completely exposing her vulnerabilities.
“Want to go out?”
Qin Yu looked down at her, his thumb unintentionally brushing against the corner of her mouth, his eyes slightly narrowed, the husky tone of his voice tinged with a dangerous air.
Ah Da hadn’t seen this expression on Qin Yu for a long time, dangerous and indifferent; as he had always been approachable lately, it was sudden now, and she couldn’t help feeling nervous.
“…Yes.”
Her voice became meek, Ah Da felt somewhat fearful inside, but her desire to meet her friends overcame her fear; she grabbed his hand that was pinching her chin.
“I won’t run away, just going out to play a bit.”
The young girl wasn’t foolish; she always quickly sensed Qin Yu’s mood changes and immediately reacted, knowing that showing weakness would make him agree to her requests.
Qin Yu’s fingers stroked her cheek, smooth as tofu, “Thinking of going to the museum again?”
Ah Da’s cheeks turned red, and she shook her head, “No, I want to meet with Bronze Sword, I have some things I want to talk to her about.”
“Alright,” Qin Yu said.
Ah Da broke into a radiant smile, her eyes curving into crescents, “Thank you, I’ll bring you something tasty when I come back.”
After speaking, she realized she had revealed too much, the young girl covered her mouth, her eyes wide with panic.
Qin Yu chuckled softly, “So, you’re craving something tasty. What did she promise you that hooked you like this?”
Ah Da quickly explained, “No, I really have something to tell her, the food is just incidental.”
The real reasons for wanting to go out were twofold, the first being not wanting to be confined to the small island, which was boring without Qin Yu, and the second was because Su Qingtong was filming in the movie town, which looked fun, and she wanted to go see it and meet up by chance.
Compared to Qin Yu, Ah Da felt she had more in common and was more comfortable with Bronze Sword.
Qin Yu was often moody, and she couldn’t fathom his thoughts, like tonight at the lakeshore when he kissed her, she had no idea why he did it; he never explained.
What do you think?
