Chapter 92: Chapter 92: A Backhand Slap
Ah Da walked in but did not sit down; instead, she asked, “She’s filming right now, can I go in and watch?”
Zhu Jia hesitated. According to the film crew’s rules, except for the actors and staff, no one was allowed to watch, mainly to prevent leaks of wardrobe and plot.
But seeing the two bodyguards by the girl’s side, she didn’t dare to say no outright for fear of offending someone.
Ah Da noticed her difficulty and immediately smiled, saying, “It’s fine if I can’t. I can wait for her here.”
With that, she turned and sat down on the chair.
The young girl was a white-skinned beauty with long hair draped over her shoulders, sitting upright on the chair like an exquisitely carved porcelain doll.
Zhu Jia spoke tentatively, “You can take a look around, just don’t go into the shooting areas marked off by the caution tape, or you can rest here for now. There’s iced milk tea on the table that hasn’t been drunk yet. I’m going to check on Sister Qingtong and if the director approves, I’ll come back and take you over there.”
Ah Da nodded, smiling, “Thanks, I appreciate it.”
Such a beautiful young girl, and so polite too, with no air of superiority at all, thought Zhu Jia with a sigh.
“No trouble at all, no trouble,” said Zhu Jia shyly, waving her hand before running out past the bodyguards with her head down.
Ah Da, sitting in the chair, looked around and saw the milk tea on the table, but didn’t reach for it. Instead, she took out her phone and looked at a message from Su Qingtong that had been sent half an hour earlier.
It said that the director had called her and she was going to be busy.
Just as Ah Da was about to exit WeChat, a message suddenly popped up from Qin Yu.
Qin Yu: What are you doing?
Ah Da typed back: Waiting in the lounge for Bronze Sword.
Qin Yu: Want to go in and watch?
Go in and watch? Was he talking about the film crew?
Ah Da’s eyelashes fluttered twice. She knew that if she really wanted to watch, Qin Yu would definitely be able to get her in, but since the crew was working, it wouldn’t be good for her to intrude.
She replied: No need.
After a while, Qin Yu responded: As you wish.
Ah Da’s lips curled up, and she picked out a sticker of a little cat rubbing its head to send back.
Qin Yu didn’t reply, and Ah Da didn’t mind. She put down her phone and stood up, intending to walk around outside, since the assistant had said that as long as she didn’t enter the main filming area, it would be fine.
Just as she reached the door, she suddenly bumped into several people who were preparing to enter the small room, all looking fierce and determined.
The woman at the forefront was slightly plump, dressed in an emerald green traditional costume, with her hair accessory still in place, heavily made up in a luxurious and ostentatious manner. She showed a look of surprise when she saw Ah Da.
Ah Da looked at her, not expecting someone to barge in, and crisply asked, “Who are you?”
The woman, fanning herself with a small fan, looked down at the girl before her with arrogance, scanning her from head to toe. Noting the bodyguards beside her, her face quickly showed disdain.
“I should be the one asking you that question. Who are you? Isn’t this place for that little wench Su Qingtong? Which corner did you come crawling out from?”
“You look just like a vixen; you’re probably the same type as Su Qingtong, a professional homewrecker.”
Ah Da furrowed her brows at the rudeness of her words, anger brewing in her delicate, porcelain-white face.
“What are you saying? Qingtong is not a mistress.”
Seeing her dare to retort, the woman stopped fanning herself, widened her eyes in anger, and retorted, “Oh, you dare talk back! If she’s not being a mistress, why did she seduce my boyfriend?”
“She hasn’t been here long and has already hooked one or two, making them unable to take their eyes off her. If she’s not a little vixen, then what is she?”
The woman was getting angrier by the second as she glared at the girl’s delicate, fair face. Overcome by rage, she couldn’t help but move forward to strike out.
Seeing the hand coming toward her, Ah Da frowned and stepped back, out of the woman’s reach. She was promptly grabbed by a bodyguard and moved aside like scooping up a chick.
“Stop it!”
The bodyguard reprimanded her coldly.
The woman immediately started howling like a mad dog that’s stepped on a tail, pointing at the bodyguard and Ah Da, “This is insane! Do you know who I am? How dare you lay your hands on me here?”
Ah Da truly didn’t know who she was. With her stunningly beautiful face looking stern, she coldly said, “I don’t know who you are, but your voice is too loud and it’s disturbing me. Please leave immediately.”
“What? You’re telling me to leave?”
Shi Mingfang pointed at herself, disbelievingly and let out a snort of derision, as if what she just heard was the biggest joke ever. It had always been her kicking others out; this was the first time someone dared to kick her out.
Ever since she arrived at the film crew, she’d been playing the role of a local Emperor here. Whatever she said was law, no one, not even the director, dared to utter a word of dissent. Who the hell did this brat think she was?
Ah Da ignored her and gestured to the bodyguard to chase them out. The bodyguard, being Qin Yu’s man, was afraid of no one. Shi Mingfang, intimidated by the menacing appearance of the bodyguard, fell silent and was scared into continuously retreating.
“You… just you wait!”
After dropping the harsh threat, Shi Mingfang glared at Ah Da with venomous eyes before turning and fleeing with her entourage.
Finally, peace fell upon Ah Da’s ears. She heaved a sigh and was about to sit down when she heard a commotion outside.
At first, she recognized the loud voice of the woman from before, who seemed to have gotten into another argument. Then, she heard Bronze Sword’s voice and realized something was wrong.
Hurriedly, she got up and walked outside, and sure enough, she saw Bronze Sword arguing at the entrance with her assistant and the woman.
Having just suffered an embarrassment, Shi Mingfang was fuming, and now she had run into Su Qingtong. She scolded Su Qingtong like a machine gun without pause, spewing abuse that was too offensive for the ears.
Like a shrew cussing someone out on the street, this display made everyone in the common resting room silently lower their heads and quiet their breathing.
Who would dare to intervene?
Su Qingtong, on the other hand, was calm, her arms folded as she watched the woman vent her anger. After the barrage of words stopped, she asked, “Done yelling? Ma’am?”
The term “ma’am” nearly choked Shi Mingfang, causing her to shriek crazily, her waist fat trembling, “What did you call me? Say it again, I dare you!”
“Ma’am, ma’am, ma’am, I’ve said it three times now, no need to thank me.”
“Su Qingtong, it seems you no longer wish to work in the entertainment industry, do you believe I will have you blacklisted tomorrow?”
Su Qingtong replied innocently, “Wasn’t it you who asked me to call you that? I called you and you are not satisfied, how can this be my fault?”
Enraged, Shi Mingfang’s eyes turned red. She raised her hand to slap Su Qingtong, but Su Qingtong was no ordinary person. She caught Shi Mingfang’s hand and retaliated with a slap of her own.
“Slap!”
The crisp sound of a slap echoed, leaving the people in the resting room wide-mouthed in shock, some not even noticing a mirror falling to the ground.
Good lord, now that’s a disaster waiting to happen.
Who was Shi Mingfang? The daughter of an investor whom even directors had to appease—a pampered heiress. It was obvious she was not at the film crew to act or experience life.
She was there for a romance with the male lead Zhou Zhixiang on an S+ scale project. It was said that Zhou Zhixiang wasn’t the original choice for the male role; it was because of Shi Mingfang that the investors eventually insisted on him taking the part.
So, with Shi Mingfang around, everything was quite clear, but they were not discreet, openly showing affection. Lucky for them, the privacy of the crew was high; otherwise, social media would have blown up long ago.
After all, with Shi Mingfang’s background, she could play however she wanted, and no one dared cross her.
Now, Su Qingtong dared to slap her across the face. She really must not care about her future in the entertainment industry anymore.
What do you think?
