Chapter 1215 - 1211: I Have No Mother, Only Mom
Su Yingxue felt that bringing her back to Rong Sheng’s side was for her benefit, but her crying made Su Yingxue feel like a villain.
It was Chu Yihan who was more rational and clear-headed. He let Chu Yifeng communicate with Rong Xi himself about whether she still had family at home, whether she was willing to go home, or if she insisted on staying with Chu Yifeng.
Rong Xi firmly nestled in Chu Yifeng’s arms and refused to come down, tightly grasping his fingers.
While holding her, Chu Yihan asked, “Are you willing to adopt her?”
Chu Yifeng blurted out, “It’s just adopting a child.”
The meaning he conveyed was that adopting was no big deal; after all, he was not short of money or manpower and raising a little girl was extremely easy for him.
He could even shamelessly ask Chu Yihan for a title of princess or county lord for the little girl, ensuring she lived a good life without worries about food and clothing.
Chu Yihan put Chu Heng down, gave him a task to keep Rong Xi entertained and not to make her cry, then he took Chu Yifeng out.
Su Yingxue had to watch inside the room because once Rong Xi left Chu Yifeng’s side, she turned into a little porcupine, bristling defensively, and pushed Chu Heng down in a tantrum, demanding, “Give me back my daddy!”
“Ouch!”
Chu Heng fell flat on his buttocks and, helping himself up by holding onto Su Yingxue, he looked innocently at Rong Xi with his grape-like eyes, “I didn’t steal your daddy.”
He had his own father!
His father was the most formidable man in the entire world; he didn’t need to steal anyone else’s daddy.
Rong Xi, seeing his innocence, became even angrier, but she couldn’t run out as Su Yingxue and Ah Hong were blocking her in the room.
Outside the door, Chu Yihan sternly told Chu Yifeng, “If you do not have the readiness to be a father, then I absolutely will not agree to you adopting this child.”
As soon as Chu Yifeng saw his brother’s serious and stern face, he knew he was about to be lectured, “How am I not ready to be a father? I’ll raise this child well, ensure she lacks nothing, achieves a high position, and marries into a noble family. Isn’t that good for her? If it weren’t for being adopted by me, she would never enjoy such wealth and honor in her life.”
“A child’s upbringing is not just about wealth and honor; as a father, you need to provide paternal love, give her a family, nurture her carefully, and plan a long-term future for her. These are by no means easy tasks! Consider these thoroughly. Whether you can do them, and to what extent, think it over carefully!”
Chu Yihan left those words and entered the room.
He took Rong Xi and Chu Heng away, instructing Chu Yifeng to think it over before coming to him to pick up the child.
Otherwise, he would summon Wang Jingzhi to find the child’s family and send her back, or possibly find another good family to adopt her.
Rong Xi cried and screamed, unwilling to leave, but eventually, Chu Yihan had Mo Qi forcibly carry her away, leaving Chu Yifeng’s courtyard.
Ah Hong, hearing Rong Xi’s pitiful cries, felt somewhat distressed.
He tentatively asked, “Master, will we still go to pick up the little girl?”
This little girl was different from other children; she was deeply liked by Chu Yifeng, especially when he was missing his own child.
She matched all of Chu Yifeng’s hopes; he simply wanted a daughter, wanting Rong Sheng to bear him a daughter.
Chu Yifeng, with his back to Ah Hong, scoffed twice, “A child? Chu Yihan likes being a daddy, so let him take her away!”
Talking about paternal responsibilities, raising a child, and providing her a home!
Chu Yifeng was too lazy to engage in such complicated matters!
He never received those things, so what did he have to offer to others?
Who knows what that even is!
After Chu Yihan brought Rong Xi back, she cried for a long time, her throat became hoarse, too sore to make a sound, before she finally stopped.
Su Yingxue patiently soothed her, trying to feed her medicine and food, but Rong Xi knocked everything over.
Even Chu Heng was kicked several times by Rong Xi.
Fortunately, Chu Heng didn’t mind, and every time he was knocked down, he’d push up off the ground with one hand and get up, sticking his bottom up in the air.
He was still not very adept at standing before, but after Rong Xi kicked him a few more times, he actually got up faster and more stably.
He would then run up to Chu Yihan, blinking his big eyes as if seeking praise, “Father! Father!”
Look how quickly he stands, how well he walks!
Chu Yihan hugged him and played with him for a while, then handed him over to Mo Qi to take to Shan Bao.
Upon seeing Shan Bao, Chu Heng was exceptionally affectionate, nestling in its arms, even riding on its back around the garden.
Su Yingxue was at a loss with Rong Xi, having tried all kind words and laid all sorts of little trinkets before her; yet Rong Xi was unwilling to take any of them, her voice hoarse as she could only utter two words, “Daddy, Daddy.”
Chu Yihan patted Su Yingxue on the back, “You take a rest.”
“Ah …”
Exhausted, Su Yingxue straightened up her back and ran outside to see Heng’er riding the tiger to relieve his weariness.
Chu Yihan sat down opposite Rong Xi. Seeing his face, Rong Xi calmed down, neither crying nor making a fuss.
Perhaps she confused Chu Yifeng with Chu Yihan, subconsciously calling out, “Daddy?”
“I am not your father, I am your father’s brother.”
Chu Yihan knew she might not understand, so he didn’t explain further.
Being a father himself, he was more patient with children than Chu Yifeng, and he knew the ways better.
Knowing that Rong Xi was restless from not seeing Chu Yifeng, he used his own face, which looked just like Chu Yifeng’s, to persuade her to take her medicine and eat.
The result was just as he expected.
Rong Xi knew he was not her father, but she didn’t feel any particular aversion to him.
She could feel that, like her father, this man was warm and inviting.
“Before you see your father, may I ask you a few questions?”
Chu Yihan gave her a rattle drum, Heng’er’s favorite toy.
Rong Xi wasn’t much interested in the rattle drum, but she held it in her hands and nodded.
“In your home, do you really have no father and mother?” Chu Yihan asked.
Rong Xi shook her head, “No.”
She only had a mother.
But she was very afraid of her mother.
That’s why she came to find her father.
“Would you be willing to be sent back to your home?” Chu Yifeng observed her expression.
When he mentioned home, Rong Xi visibly reacted, revealing that she did have a home.
But she almost subconsciously shook her head, “No …”
She didn’t want to go back. She feared her mother would be angry with her or lock her up, and that she wouldn’t give her to her father.
Chu Yihan guessed that this child had a strained relationship with her relatives at home, perhaps her parents had already passed away, and people there didn’t care about her much, which might have caused her to be able to run around outside, and now there was also no one coming to look for her.
He told Rong Xi that once her injuries were healed, she could go back to Chu Yifeng’s side. Rong Xi’s eyes lit up, filled with eagerness, “Really?”@@novelbin@@
