Chapter 47
‘So Ryan knows Leshuan needs magic stones, yet instead of proposing, he plans to exploit the situation?’
Marquis Efeckle had thought that if he could just hold on until Leshuan and Ryan were married, they could rely on the royal family's supply of magic stones afterward.
The Marquis looked at Ryan again with a bitter smile.
Before him stood a man consumed by the desire for revenge against those who had humiliated him.@@novelbin@@
Was it merely a childish pride?
‘Blinded by a futile revenge.’
"Before this matter is resolved, if you run out of magic stones for Leshuan, let me know at any time," Ryan said, adding a word of concern for Leshuan. Yet, it didn’t come across as entirely sincere.
The idea of bringing down the House of Etwar was nothing more than a desperate move by Ryan and Emperor Kies.
The newly appeared prince Darcy had shown more spirit and confidence than Ryan.
‘Darcy, that’s his name.’
It wasn’t surprising that Ryan was feeling this urgency. His sudden interaction with Marceau, whom he had previously despised, could be because of this new threat.
‘They say he only talks to Marceau Etwar.’
Knowing how dangerous it was to expose one's vulnerabilities, Darcy had done so anyway, which suggested he was a man capable of protecting what was his.
Rumor had it that most of the military successes credited to Kies were actually Darcy’s doing.
Many thoughts crossed the Marquis’s mind, but his decision was already made.
"Send me the contract," he said.
Despite the promise of royal support, the Marquis no longer wanted to send Leshuan to the royal family. He couldn’t bear the thought of his granddaughter marrying a man who prioritized something else over her, even for a moment.
What do you think?
