Chapter 610 The Stubborn Wish Of The Stubborn Son
(From Blue's Perspective)
Someone was watching me. Us. Or, just me, perhaps. But someone was out there for sure with their eyes on this place.
"You okay?" Dem asked, placing his hand on top of mine.
"Yeah, fine," I mumbled.
"Tell me if something is wrong," he insisted.
"I don't know… I feel like someone is watching me," I said.
"Is it because of the Melissa incident?" Dion asked. "I also feel rather unsettled."
"Just because of that?" Demian scoffed.
We were having tea in the garden. Bree was hunting rabbits in the forest. I hated it. But she would not listen to me.
None of my children could shapeshift. It was because they had black mana in them. Besides, they were more human than werewolves. Sure, they had extraordinary hearing and sight. But the most important thing about werewolves was that they could shapeshift which my children could not. Bree always sighed that it was just a shame that she could not turn into a wolf.
"You don't have to experience shit on full moons," Dem said. "I think it's a good thing that you are more of a human."
"I can't even find a mate since I'm not really much of a werewolf. How can I experience that?" Bree said. "It's a shame, honestly."
"It's not. You literally go crazy," I said. "Not that I would have minded to have children who could turn into wolves. You could carry me on your back."
"You are heavy, Mummy."
"Am I?" I asked Dem who shook his head.
"She is just weak."
Dem squeezed my hand a little. It brought me out of my thoughts.
"Hey," he said. "I checked. There is no one near."
I had not even noticed when he got up to check and when he came back.
"We can go inside if you want to," Dion said.
"Yeah. We should do that," Dem said. "Come on."
The maids arranged for us to sit in a living room. I felt safer there. And way more comfortable. I liked the outside, but I hated to be watched. Even the feeling of being watched by anyone other than Dem was disturbing. Sometimes Demian did that from his window and it was uncomfortable, to be honest.
I always felt like I was doing something I should not even though that was not the case.
"Where did you get this cake? It's good," Demian commented. He was stuffing himself with two large pieces of red velvet cakes. They were Luc's favorite.
"From Lily's bakery. She used to be my maid," I said.
"You loaned her some money, didn't you?" Dem asked.
I nodded. "She once made me a cake and it was so good, so I joked if she planned on opening a bakery. She said she wanted to, but didn't have the money. Then I loaned her some. She gave me back all the money soon enough."
"You are too kind, Mum. That's why people take advantage of you," Demian said.
"What do you mean? Who took advantage of me?" I asked.
Demian chuckled, but did not say anything. But I was pretty sure his eyes darted once toward his father.
"Don't say such things!" Dem said angrily. "Your Mum might be kind but not weak."
I gently touched Dem's hand. I never told him off in front of the kids. They would think less of him then. I just signaled him to tone it down.
Once Dem slapped Demian over something he said. I hated it, but then I thought that perhaps it had been necessary. Dem never raised his hand on our kids if they did not do something bad. Even then, not all the time, because I was the one who talked to them whenever they did something wrong. It had been just one time that he did that.
Demian never said something like that again, so I supposed it was an improvement.
Or, was it?
We talked about regular normal things. Dem told Dion that he did a good job in the last mission. Demian acted nonchalant when I said the report he made was very good, but I could tell he was proud.
"You know, Mum, I am planning to go somewhere," Demian said after a while.
"Where?" I asked. Dion did not look surprised.
"I want to visit some mountains and forests," he said.@@novelbin@@
"I don't believe it," Dem said. "You are too lazy for that."
"I was kidding. I want to go with Uncle Luc," Demian said.
"Where?" I turned to my husband. "Are you sending Luc somewhere?" Experience new tales on My Virtual Library Empire
"Luc said he wants to take Ruby to Maryland island."
"I asked Uncle if I could come and he said yes," Demian said.
"Seriously, Demian? Luc might just want to have some alone time with Ruby," I said.
"They have plenty of alone time in the magic tower if all they want to do is…"
"Demian!"
"Relax, Mum. I'm old enough to know what couples do," Demian said.
"That's not the point, Demian. The point is I don't think it's right," I said. "Why don't you go somewhere else?"
"With who?"
"It's not like you need someone to babysit you," Dem said. "You are not a baby, Demian."
"No. I want to go with Uncle and Aunt," Demian said stubbornly.
Demian would not be swayed. I sent a letter to Ruby and Luc to apologize for my son's careless behavior, who said they did not mind at all.
Well, if Luc and Ruby did not take him, Demian (the stubborn brat he was) would have followed them anyway.
For some reason, I did not feel well about this arrangement. It was not like I did not trust Ruby and Luc with my son. Besides, Demian was strong enough to protect himself if something came up. That was not the cause of my worries.
Something was nagging at my mind. I kept thinking that something was wrong. My subconsciousness was yelling at me that something was about to happen.
They would be five days later. I tried so much to stop Demian. I truly tried. I kept saying I would give him more work and would even let him go on a mission with Dion.
But in the end, nothing could move him. And the day of their departure arrived.
What do you think?
