Chapter 354 - 354: Don't Worry, Dad Will Come to Save Us

[Chapter 354: Don't Worry, Dad Will Come to Save Us]

An ordinary car had limited protection against automatic rifles and machine gun bullets.

Getting out to return fire, they faced an angle-free attack.

Hiding behind the car meant waiting to die.

Hawke switched his shooting position, adjusted his AK74, and locked onto a target. After a short burst, blood sprayed from a man hiding behind a jeep, who collapsed to the ground.

Shooting at living targets thrilled Hawke a bit; he adjusted his aim slightly, fired again, and a man armed with a submachine gun was left with nothing but a severed head.

Another vehicle tried to turn around.

Hawke dropped the rifle, pulled out a grenade, and threw it with force.

The grenade exploded above the vehicle, sending shrapnel through the roof and leaving countless holes behind.

The car immediately lost control, crashing into a dirt mound on the roadside.

Hawke lifted his gun and continued shooting, taking down two more men in his sights.

When one magazine ran out, he quickly swapped in another.

Nearby, Guti had emptied his light machine gun and was reloading.

Several snipers continuously identified and eliminated remaining targets.

The safest place on site was that flat tire Land Cruiser.

Under absolutely advantageous terrain, numbers, and firepower, the massacre was nearing its end.

Pained screams echoed around.

Hawke pointed his gun at the Land Cruiser but ceased fire.

This victory was a testament to the power of cash.

With a stash of cash in hand, Hawke had utilized an art auction to funnel money to a shell company overseas, then purchased Russian firearms and ammunition, all for today.

When he acted, he struck like thunder.

Hawke picked up the last RPG, aimed it at the last active gunner, and fired the rocket.

As the explosion lit up the area, only screams remained.

Hawke shouted into the radio, "Cease fire! Cease fire!"

...

The gunfire stopped, and on the Land Cruiser, a blood-splattered Pandis first went to check on his mother lizard.

Behind him, Utson pulled out a pistol and slowly looked out of the car.

Everywhere lay corpses and vehicle wreckage.

The butler drew out an Uzi submachine gun and, hearing the gunfire stop, asked, "Did we lose all our men?"

Pandis, in the passenger seat, observed closely, one hand holding a satchel and the other gripping the short submachine gun at his side. He replied, "Things are looking very grim."

Buddy slowly stood up from beneath the seat.

Utson attempted to hold him back, but Buddy pushed his hand away, saying, "Their target is me. Can't you see? Other than the driver, no shots were fired in our direction."

A voice rang out from outside, "Listen up, people below! Drop your weapons, and you'll get to live! Those in the car, exit immediately! You have ten seconds!"

The two cars in front of the Land Cruiser had already been turned to wreckage by rockets.

Boom--

Another explosion roared; this time, a car had been hit by a grenade launcher, igniting in flames.

Not getting out meant death; getting out might offer a small chance of survival.

Buddy had no choice. "Let's get out of the car."

The butler opened the door and was the first to step out.

A gunshot rang out, raising a cloud of dust from the ground in front of him.

The butler discarded the Uzi, raising his hands.

Pandis left his gun in the car and also exited.

Finally, Utson helped Buddy out of the vehicle.

...

Hawke ordered over the radio, "All snipers on alert; others clean up the battlefield."

More than thirty people descended from the hills on either side.

Hawke commanded, "Finish them!"

Gunfire erupted again; whether injured or dead, everyone on the ground received at least one more bullet to the head.

...

Bosque, Garcia, and others were the first to reach the Land Cruiser.

Garcia pulled Buddy aside, gripping his face, examining him closely. "He checks out."

Buddy remained calm. "We'll cooperate, just don't shoot."

"Clear them!"

"Secure the perimeter!"

...

As the finishing shots concluded, Hawke slung his gun over his shoulder and walked down the slope to the Land Cruiser.

Buddy's gaze shifted towards a newcomer. Given his years of experience, he could immediately tell this was the real leader.

The figure wore a helmet, revealing light brown hair and a thick beard that exuded a fierce vibe.

Buddy realized he did not know this person.

Hawke had seen Buddy's photos and videos countless times; he was sure the identity was correct.

Suddenly, he noticed a man nearby reaching for a satchel slung over his shoulder.

Without hesitation, Hawke drew his pistol and fired multiple shots.

Bang, bang, bang--

After several gunshots, Pandis fell backward, crashing against the passenger door and sliding down.

Nearby, everyone raised their guns, aiming at the remaining three individuals.

Hawke commanded, "Leave the target; kill the rest."

The butler and Utson tried to grab their guns, but after a chaotic volley, they were riddled with bullets.

The convoy was left with only Buddy, dragged out by Garcia.

...

"Cease fire!" Bosque shouted.

Hawke ordered through the radio, "Five minutes to clean the battlefield; leave the electronics untouched."

Buddy looked at Hawke and wisely refrained from speaking.

Bosque noticed something moving in the satchel of the corpse; approaching it, he shoved his gun to pry it open, and a large lizard darted out.

The lizard attempted to climb away, but Bosque stomped the lizard flat.

...

Five minutes later, the battlefield was simply cleaned up; all the bodies were dumped into the wrecked vehicles and doused with gasoline, igniting them to burn.

Hawke regrouped with Erica, Garcia, and Campos, escorting Buddy Ackerman alongside Bosque and others as they split up to retreat along the pre-planned routes.

The once bustling battlefield grew quiet, the only thing remaining was the roaring fire, creating an eerie smell of charred remains.

...

This situation was reported to the border officials and nearby Guatemala police station in a town.

After over half an hour, less than ten individuals arrived slowly.

Not a case they could handle, they quickly escalated the report up the hierarchy.

As for how to deal with it, they didn't care.

Guatemala was known to be one of the most dangerous countries in the world; gun battles of this scale occurred annually.

In the end, local gang organizations came to clean up the mess.

---

Los Angeles, Inglewood.

A large independent villa, in a basement room on the second floor, Sean Ackerman woke from unconsciousness.

He looked at the hidden lights on the ceiling, surveying the unfamiliar room.

Trying to get up from the uncomfortable bed, he found he had little strength and his lips were cracked from dehydration.

Sean noticed the door to the room was open, and inside a box lay food and bottled water.

Struggling, he made his way to the door, leaning against the wall to twist open the water bottle for a drink. As he glanced at the bread, he picked it up to assess.

Feeling painfully hungry, Sean tried a bite, deciding to finish the bread.

The bread was barely enough to satisfy his hunger.

After drinking some water, Sean arrived at the door, gripping the hollow metal pillar of the alloy door. He hoarsely called out, "Is anyone there? Is there anyone here? Help! Help!"

No one responded. Sean banged on the metal door and shouted, "Is anyone there? Help!"

Suddenly, a woman's voice came from the side, "Quit yelling; no one's coming to save you!"

Sean found the voice oddly familiar, one he had often heard before. He paused, then tentatively asked, "Melissa, is that you?"

The voice replied with surprise, "Who are you?"

...

In another room, Melissa hurried to the door, but from her position, she could not see Sean: "What's wrong with your voice?"

"It's the drugs; I haven't had water for many days." Sean was convinced it was Melissa's voice. "Melissa, it's me! I'm your brother, Sean!"

Melissa, astonished, said, "You're Sean? You got captured too? Hahaha..."

Sean asked, "What are you doing here? Did you capture me?"

Melissa didn't answer, only laughed heartily, her laughter filled with satisfaction.

Both were from the Ackerman family; why should she be imprisoned in the basement while her brother was outside living freely?

Well, now Sean had arrived as well.

Sean strained his throat, yelling, "Stop laughing! Crazy woman, will you just stop laughing and let me out! Let me out!"

Melissa's laughter faded slightly as she said, "You're still as foolish as ever; you're no different from an idiot. I've been missing for this long, and you didn't come looking for me?"

Sean thought of their brotherly and sisterly resentment. "Look for you? Why would I look for you? Dad sent people to find you, but I destroyed everything. Did you think I wanted to bring you back just to fight me for the inheritance?"

Melissa replied coldly, "You don't have to worry about inheriting anything; now you're just like me, captured and imprisoned in this basement."

Sean suddenly understood, "After disappearing in Mexico, you were brought here? You've been imprisoned all this time? Who did this?"

"I thought you did it," Melissa stated.

Sean replied, "I wanted to, but didn't get the chance."

These two strangely bonded siblings shared the tales of their capture, and the tension between them eased considerably.

"Don't worry, Dad will come to save us," Sean repeated. "In just a few days, Dad will find us and rescue us from here!"
