Chapter 759: Overlords Wake Up
The Dark Beast, specifically the tier 12 Dark Beast, seemed to push the limits of the void ants, letting them break through the tier 11 realm.
Initially, this was impossible, as the Dark Beast was inedible and full of corruptive energy.
However, living and swimming in origin energy in his storage dimension, the void ants developed a strong immunity.
Once they felt full and were about to be corrupted by dark energy, they would stop and start gulping down liquefied origin energy to purify their bodies.
With such a cycle, the once-inedible Dark Beast became nourishment for their growth, giving them a new lease on life.
Over hundreds of thousands of years, getting 50% of the Absolutes' harvest from the tier 12 Dark Beast and giving it all to the void ants to consume, their race had produced thousands of tier 11 void ants.
These void ants then nested into planetary books clumped together, forming a unique library they could study from.
The Storage Dimension was also rich in various materials, enabling them to train their abilities freely.
Maximus estimated that in a few million years, he would have a group of void ants more proficient in various professions, like a biological factory.
Instead of manual work, they would revolutionize the Aeon Plane, leaving countless powerhouses in the dust.
With such a vision, even the special merits that could accelerate his path of knowledge were disregarded, leaving everything for the void ants to consume.
After all, although the merits he could gain from purifying the tier 12 Dark Beast could accelerate his path, they were nothing compared to the benefits the void ants could provide.
Furthermore, with his family merging seeds of path into the source of knowledge, he had no worries about advancing his own path to the peak.
Turning his attention back to Iris, he asked if she still wanted to fight the Dark Beast.
"It's enough. I feel tired. Let's go back home now…" Iris mumbled, falling asleep in his arms.
Although Iris had a strong immunity, slowly but surely, she was still being affected by the dark energy.
Fighting continuously for weeks without rest, the little dark energy that had accumulated in her body was beginning to corrupt her mind.
"Then let's go back."
---
Inside the Aeon Plane, the silent Overlords finally began to wake up, sensing the dark energy that was about to swallow them.
"What happened? How could the signs of a dark disaster begin so early?" Ascelon frowned, calling the other five Overlords deep in seclusion.
While they woke up, he summoned his subordinates, asking what had happened in the past million years.
Listening to the news, an incredulous expression crossed his face—disbelief, confusion, dread, awe, respect, anger—until he finally regained his calm.
"It seems I missed something during my seclusion…"
Just a million years away, and too much had changed that he could barely recognize if he were still in the Aeon Plane.
Organizing everything he had learned, Ascelon waited for the other five Overlord figures to arrive.
---
A few years later, with Ascelon's call, the Overlords began to wake up one by one, noticing the dark disaster spreading in the Dark Void Domain.
Arriving at the Interdimensional Council, the six Overlords began their discussion.
"I'm sure you've already investigated what happened…" Ascelon started.
"It seems we're being targeted by an outside force—Black Sigil. I just don't know how much power they're using to attack us," Elvian replied, frowning as he tried to understand the Black Sigil's intentions.
"Based on the fluctuations I felt outside the Aeon Plane, there's at least one tier 12 figure from Black Sigil watching us from afar," Frir answered.
Like Maximus, Frir liked to monitor everything around him.
Before the dark beasts even arrived, he was already studying the external environment of the Aeon Plane.
Using various monitoring treasures, although he couldn't be sure how many members the Black Sigil had sent, he had confirmed at least one tier 12 figure.
"What do we do now? Continue our seclusion? Maximus seems to be handling it just fine," Lazo said lazily.
When they first woke up, they thought the Aeon Plane was on the brink of collapse. But upon investigating further, it seemed to have entered a second spring.
Not only were there more absolutes blooming like flowers, but the master of oceans and rivers of law had also increased countless times.
If they didn't know any better, they might think the dark disaster had arrived just to bring them gifts.
Then there were the void outposts—after counting, there were already about 30 of them, which meant around 30 tier 12 dark beasts were being killed annually.
That kind of efficiency was far beyond what even their combined efforts could manage.
Instead of waking up to a crisis, they were now faced with a helpless realization—they weren't needed.
In time, the once-mighty Overlords might be no different from any other powerhouses.
"We must continue our seclusion, there's no doubt about that. But before we do, we need to secure a crucial resource," Ascelon said, nodding at Lazo's question.
Although they seemed useless on the battlefield now, the real threat wasn't just the dark beasts—it was a plane-level organization like Black Sigil.
Even with thousands of void outposts, the enemy wouldn't sit still and wait to be destroyed.
Having examined the Dark Plane Blasters mounted on those void outposts, they knew the weapons were specifically designed for dark beasts.
Using the same weapons against conscious powerhouses like the members of the Black Sigil would be ineffective—they could dodge or defend against them easily.
To face Black Sigil, True Power had to rise. That responsibility would fall to the Overlords.
"Resources? What resources are you talking about?" Nyx asked.
Being the last to wake up from seclusion, he hadn't investigated much of what had happened in the Aeon Plane.
"Is it the Plane Origin?" Sira answered, explaining to the others what Plane Energy was.
One of her subordinates, a peak master of the Absolute of Law, had directly benefited from the Plane Origin that Maximus had distributed.
"Yes, it's the Plane Origin. If we want to advance beyond the Aeon Plane, we need external resources to break through."
Hearing that, the others couldn't help but fall into deep thought.
If they could reach the tier 13 realm, their current situation would mean nothing.
The Aeon Plane could even establish a presence in the Planar Chaos Region, ruling a piece of territory for themselves.
"The only problem now is—what do we offer Maximus in exchange…"
Thinking of that money-grabbing kid, they all felt like their treasuries were about to be emptied.
What do you think?
