Thaddeus has a solid pair of chats.

“… I killed a man on Friday.”
He doesn’t just come out and say that right off the rip, to be fair. But Rogue probably knew something was wrong when he didn’t immediately leap at accepting her overtures for sex when they first got together. Instead, Thaddeus had suggested a movie and a cuddle, and that’s what they’d been doing for some time now.
It was Sunday now and Thaddeus had ultimately decided to have Sage, or rather ‘Tessa’ pencil in Rogue for the day. It had been a while since he and the gothic mutant had last interacted. Not too long, but it certainly felt like an eternity. Still, Rogue more than anything deserved to know what Thaddeus had done. Because…
“I had to use your power to do it. To drain him of his vitality. It was the only way.”
Technically, Rogue had no claim over the version of her mutation that Thaddeus had developed. However, that was a very black and white view of things. It lacked nuance. At the end of the day, Thaddeus didn’t regret killing Shaw the way he did. But Rogue still deserved to know what had come of their intimacy just in case she never wanted to see him again. She deserved the right to make an informed choice. She-
“I’m sure he didn’t leave you much option.”
Blinking, Thaddeus looks down at where Rogue is looking up at him. They’re cuddling together on the couch where she could rest her head on his chest and run her fingers over his bared abs as they watched the movie. Now, she’s tilted her head back so she can look him in the eye, her distinct Southern Twang giving her words more flavor even as she stares at him without a single ounce of judgment in her eyes.
… He’d been expecting anger, really. But in the face of her certainty, he swallows dryly, finding that he can’t exactly lie to her.
“He didn’t. It was self-defense.”
And really, it was. Even if one could argue that Thaddeus had known Shaw’s personality and known he was provoking him when he refused to hand over Natasha… the very act of demanding his date in the first place was itself an act of aggression. Shaw had made his decisions, he had initiated the conflict, and he had brutally tried to end it. Only Thaddeus’ immense healing factor had allowed him to survive when Shaw had tried to make an example of him. Otherwise, he’d be dead right now.
Rogue hums knowingly.
“He was a bad man, wasn’t he?”
Understatement of the century. But Thaddeus just nods, letting out a low sigh.
“Yes. He was.”
Suddenly smirking, Rogue pats his chest.
“Then why are you trying to convince me you’re a monster for removing a stain from the world?”
… You know, sometimes he forgot that Rogue was technically part of the Brotherhood of Mutants. Sure, he’d maybe kind of sort of bullied Mystique into letting Rogue stay behind and attend ESU when the shapeshifter had finally left to return to her duties, but that didn’t change much did it? Rogue still thought of herself as part of the Brotherhood. He’d just… seen her as more innocent than anything else, Thaddeus supposed.
But her words also resonate within him and make him realize that she’s right. That’s exactly what he was doing, albeit subconsciously. Maybe part of him felt some level of guilt over Shaw’s death after all. Not because Shaw died, but because Thaddeus had to kill someone, even if it was an utter shit stain like their late Black King.
He wasn’t going to beat himself up over it, but maybe some part of him felt like he deserved to be punished all the same, and so he was trying to get Rogue to beat him up over it instead. Either that or leave him entirely.
Opening and closing his mouth a couple times, Thaddeus finally just chuckles and shakes his head ruefully.
“You’re right. Sorry.”
Rogue hums in a satisfied manner and goes to lay her head back down on his chest. Just like that, she considered the matter closed. Except it wasn’t… not entirely.
“Sorry, there is something else. He was a mutant too. And I got his power.”
He hadn’t been sure initially if he did, but Thaddeus had done some tests and discovered that yes, he did in fact have Shaw’s mutation now. He hadn’t just drained the Black King’s life force; he’d quite literally drained his everything… including his powers. Thaddeus didn’t know how long it was supposed to last though, truth be told. Normally, he got powers from having sex and when that happened, it was sort of… intuitive in a way. He automatically understood what he had.
The same couldn’t be said for how he’d drained Shaw. He was basically having to figure things out as he went along.
Of course, Rogue doesn’t know what’s on his mind, she’s not psychic. All she has to go off of is his words, which cause her to look up at him with wide eyes. Now there’s a hint of judgment in her voice alongside the massive incredulity.
“You… had sex with him before you killed him?”
Blinking, Thaddeus lets out a shocked laugh before shaking his head.
“Oh! No, no I did not. There was… no sexual intercourse between us.”
Good lord. The very thought made him sick to his stomach. Rogue, meanwhile, looks relieved but also confused. She really doesn’t know. But then, why would she?
“Rogue… I absorbed his powers. I drained him of his mutation alongside his vitality.”
Thaddeus makes sure to deliver the news in a gentle, careful tone. Rogue has to take a moment to parse his words and understand what he’s saying. When she finally figures out what the hell he’s talking about, she jerks more violently then when he’d told her he killed a man on Friday. Staring up at him with wide eyes now, she gapes.
“You mean…”
Slowly nodding, Thaddeus makes sure to hold her close, hugging her gently but firmly to provide as much comfort as he can.
“… Yeah. If you ever have cause to drain someone like that… to the point of death or even just near death, you need to be ready for… additional elements to spring up. Because… it’s not just his powers I got, Rogue. I also have some of his memories.”
This wasn’t something Thaddeus had told anyone yet. Not even any of the women who had been there Friday Night. Not even Emma. He wasn’t sure how they would react, frankly. And now that he said it out loud, it led him to wonder if that part of Shaw that was inside of him had been what had him feeling so guilty over killing the bastard.
To be clear, the moment Thaddeus had realized what happened, he’d sequestered Shaw’s memories rather brutally. Clamping down on them, gathering them up into a tight little ball, and slamming them into a nice black box that he’d closed shut. But he hadn’t thrown away the proverbial key, so to speak. He’d kept options open, just in case he needed to access the brutish Black King’s memories at any point.@@novelbin@@
That said, Thaddeus was a psychic. Rogue was not. She looks at him in horror, seemingly more worried for him than anything else, but Thaddeus just shakes his head, giving her a smile.
“I’m fine, Rogue. I have the tools to handle it, thankfully. But you still needed to know. You needed to be warned.”
He definitely didn’t want her to be blindsided by that aspect of her powers down the road. Admittedly, it was far less likely to happen accidentally now that Rogue had an on and off switch for her powers. However, that also meant the chances were that if she ever did have to purposefully use her mutation to kill someone, it would be a very, very bad person indeed.
“... Thanks for letting me know, Thad. I guess it makes sense… and better to know ahead of time. Forewarned is forearmed and all that…”
Thaddeus swallows and nods but doesn’t quite know what else to say. What do you say when you’ve just informed someone that they’re capable of not just putting people into a coma with a single touch, but also capable of draining everything from superpowers to memories from them as well?
In the end, Rogue lays her head back down on his chest, her ear pressed against his skin so she can listen to his heart beat in his ribcage. Its then that Thaddeus realizes Rogue doesn’t need him to say anything else. She just needs him to be there for her… just as he needs her to be there for him.
Together, they watch the rest of the movie with one another in companionable silence.

WHAM! WHAM! WHAM!
“Nnngh! H-Harder!”
He’d had ‘Tessa’ pencil in Rogue for him. Laura though… well, Laura had just shown up after he’d finally left a sleeping Rogue in her dorm room and headed back to his own. One thing had led to another, and soon enough he and the ferocious female mutant were going at it. On her hands and knees, Laura calls for him to fuck her harder even as Thaddeus rails her from behind doggystyle, pounding into her clenching cunt with all his might.
Thankfully both the bedframe and the wall behind it were reinforced on Emma’s dime back in the very first days he’d moved into the dorm, because Thaddeus isn’t holding much back now… and Laura clearly doesn’t want him to either. He’s fucking into her so hard that it goes beyond bruising… he’s probably creating micro-fractures in her pelvis with every last thrust.
But such things don’t matter when you have a healing factor as strong as Laura’s. And it’d only gotten stronger thanks to how much sex they’d had. At this point, any damage that Thaddeus was doing with each slamming motion into Laura’s cunt was completely healed by the time he pulled out and did it again, even though each of his thrusts was happening in mere fractions of a second.
“Yes! Fuck! FUCK!”
Tipping over the edge, Laura cries out as she cums all over his cock for what feels like the sixth time since they started. Thaddeus groans and joins her this time around, her insides milking him rather effusively and fully bringing him to completion finally. He cums and cums for what feels like an eternity before he’s finally done.
A full body shudder runs through Laura’s figure, her back muscles rippling before his eyes in an absolutely stunning fashion until finally, they both slump down onto the bed together, finally spent. And for good reason too… they’ve been going at it for over an hour now, Thaddeus notes wryly.
Finally, he rolls off of Laura and onto his back while Laura herself rolls onto her side facing him. Silence reigns for a moment before she finally breaks it.
“You didn’t just do what you had to. You did the right thing.”
Thaddeus looks over at her quietly, just… soaking in her words as Laura continues on.
“Some people don’t deserve life. Simple as that.”
And really, for her it would be that simple, wouldn’t it? Thaddeus’ mind goes to Kimura for a moment. Laura had made sure the mercenary died like a dog. No muss, no fuss. And from what he knew, Kimura deserved it. But then, if Kimura deserved it… so did Sebastian Shaw. The man was just as bad as Laura’s Chief Tormentor had been, if not more so. He was a monster plain and simple.
“Not everyone has it in them to kill. And some will tell you that nobody should be capable of ending someone else’s life. It took me a long time to realize those people are wrong. Sometimes, there’s someone who needs to die. And people like us are necessary, to deal with people like that.”
As far as pep talks go, it might not be the very best. And yet… at the same time, it works. Laura’s words successfully loosen something in Thaddeus’ chest that he hadn’t even known was there. With Rogue, he’d been more worried about telling her what happened and letting her know what he’d discovered about her mutation. He wasn’t looking for anyone to throw him a pity party, or to pat him on the head and tell him he was a ‘good boy’ for ‘doing what needed to be done’.
And yet, even though he hadn’t been looking for it, Laura had known what he needed all the same. With a rueful chuckle, he reaches out and grabs hold of the naked, sweaty woman, pulling her into his side. Laura doesn’t resist, cuddling into him quite contently even as he places a kiss atop her head.
“… Thank you.”
“Mm.”
He’s glad he took a moment to really process things this weekend. He’s glad he didn’t just gloss over it all or shut himself off from the women in his life. The future is still somewhat dark and uncertain. And he’s well aware that his new role as a White Knight in the Hellfire Club will come with far more responsibilities then he had previously when he was a relative unknown and just a ‘pawn’.
But those responsibilities were still a little ways off. For now, Thaddeus really was looking forward to just going to class tomorrow and having a bit of normalcy for once. College had admittedly taken a backseat for him so far. Maybe it was time to focus on his time at Empire State University a bit more…
