Chapter 652: Chapter 652: I Will Personally Arrange a Grand Wedding for My Parents

Seeing Ling Ruonan with such an emotional look on her face, Luo Ziling also felt a tinge of heartache, but he wasn’t as deeply moved as she was; instead, he felt something was a bit off. However, he didn’t voice his suspicions.

After leaving the old mansion, the motorcade headed towards the residence of Ling Mingrui.

The place where Ling Mingrui lived was also a separate courtyard, with equally strict security.

The security measures were as tight as those in the area of the Ling Family Old Mansion, and everyone had to provide a frontal image of themselves.

But both Ling Ruonan and Luo Ziling accepted these measures calmly.

When they passed the last checkpoint, vehicles were not allowed to enter anymore, and Wuyue was also stopped outside. Only Ling Ruonan and Luo Ziling could walk in, and the bag Luo Ziling was carrying was thoroughly inspected.

...

This checkpoint was situated about ten meters from the separate courtyard where Ling Mingrui lived. While Luo Ziling and Ling Ruonan were being checked, Xie Enhua had already come out of the house and greeted them.

Even so, the guards at the post still conducted a thorough check before letting them inside.

“Grandma,” Luo Ziling greeted Xie Enhua with a head start over Ling Ruonan, who was smiling warmly.

“Mom, I brought Ziling over to help you both with a health check,” Ling Ruonan also greeted her with a happy smile and took Xie Enhua’s arm, “I just finished treating Grandpa.”

“How is the old gentleman?” Xie Enhua allowed Ling Ruonan to take her arm, while her other hand held Luo Ziling’s. Without waiting for mother and son to answer, she smiled and said, “Come in and sit down. Visiting Grandma here is a bit of a hassle, otherwise you could come over for meals more often.”

“Grandma, it’s even stricter than the airport security checks,” Luo Ziling joked with a smile, “Thankfully, I got through a scene like this at Great Grandfather’s place; otherwise, it would have scared me silly.”

“Ah, my poor child,” Xie Enhua sighed, “When you get the chance, come to have dinner with your mom at Grandma’s place more often. I’m very welcoming of your visits, don’t mind the trouble from those people.”

“Mom, thank you,” Ling Ruonan sincerely thanked Xie Enhua, “If I get the chance, I will often bring Ziling to see you.”

“Mmm. Visit often when you have time, Mom is getting old and likes to chatter with you all,” Xie Enhua said, and then patted Luo Ziling’s arm, “It’s your first time at Grandma’s place, and later I’ll give you a gift. Don’t refuse it.”

Luo Ziling glanced at Ling Ruonan, who simply smiled back, and thus he didn’t refuse, agreeing readily and expressing his thanks.

It was already five o’clock, and the sky was darkening, but Ling Mingrui had not yet returned.

In the kitchen, the nanny auntie was busy preparing dinner. After Xie Enhua went to give some instructions, she came back to chat with Ling Ruonan and Luo Ziling. A few moments later, Xie Enhua stood up to fetch a gift for Luo Ziling from inside the house.

Taking advantage of the moment Xie Enhua went inside, Ling Ruonan softly instructed, “No matter what Grandpa and Grandma give you, accept it, don’t refuse.”

“Mom, I understand,” Luo Ziling nodded and smiled, indicating that he grasped Ling Ruonan’s meaning.

Soon, Xie Enhua brought out a box that had an antique look to it from inside the house.

Seeing this box, Ling Ruonan was startled, “Mom, why are you taking this out…”

“This is a gift for Ling’er that I’ve prepared for our meeting,” Xie Enhua said to Ling Ruonan with a loving smile. Then she placed the box in front of Luo Ziling, opened it, and pointed to the exquisite jade pendant lying inside, “Ling’er, this is a family heirloom of the Ling family, likely a treasure from the Ming Dynasty. Originally, I wanted to give it to Nannan as part of her dowry when she got married, so that she could pass it down to her son or daughter in the future. Now, your grandmother is handing it directly to you, her grandson. You must take good care of it and pass it on to your children.”

Upon hearing Xie Enhua say this, Ling Ruonan’s eyes teared up, but she bit her lip and tried hard not to let the tears fall.

Xie Enhua wiped her eyes and then took hold of Ling Ruonan’s hands, saying with emotion, “I really hope your man can come back soon, and that your family can reunite sooner. Once you can reunite, I will definitely persuade your father to hold a make-up wedding for you, and it will be grand. The women of our Ling family must have a lively wedding, no matter what, we can’t be looked down upon.”

“Mom, thank you,” Ling Ruonan could no longer hold back, and tears rolled down her face as she cried out, “No matter what, the person I am most grateful to is you. Without you, I might not have been able to hold on any longer.”

What Ling Ruonan said was the absolute truth; throughout these years, the greatest support she received was from her mother. At the beginning, it was because of Xie Enhua’s strong opposition that she had the chance to give birth to Luo Ziling. Without Xie Enhua’s support, the child in her womb might have been lost long ago.

Back then, Xie Enhua personally took care of Ling Ruonan’s diet, fearing that someone would attempt to drug her food to terminate the pregnancy.

When it was time for Ling Ruonan to give birth, it was she who arranged for the hospital and that someone drove them there in the middle of the night, accompanying Ling Ruonan to the hospital.

After Luo Ziling was born, she cared for him in the hospital for many days, tirelessly, night and day, and it was she who personally found the postpartum caretaker. She didn’t let anyone else touch the child. For the following months, Xie Enhua continuously took care of both Ling Ruonan and the infant Luo Ziling.

Ling Ruonan knew that without her mother’s strong resistance and meticulous care, she wouldn’t have been able to survive. Even whether Luo Ziling could remain with her was uncertain for the first three months.

When Luo Ziling was taken away by his grandfather Luo Liansheng, Ling Ruonan was so heartbroken that she couldn’t sleep well for an entire night. It was Xie Enhua who stayed with her daily, comforting her and fighting for her interests. Without mother Xie Enhua, her current life would be impossible, and even whether Luo Ziling could have survived was in doubt. Therefore, among all the members of the Ling family, the person Ling Ruonan was most grateful to was her own mother.

Today, when she heard Xie Enhua speak of a grand make-up wedding for when Luo Xusheng returns, she couldn’t help herself and burst into tears.

Xie Enhua naturally shed tears as well.

Sitting on the side, Luo Ziling almost had his tears coaxed out by them too.

“Grandma, Mom,” Luo Ziling said with a forced smile to the two women wiping away tears, “Don’t cry anymore. When our family is reunited, I will personally organize a grand wedding for my parents, to show everyone what a truly talented man and beautiful woman look like and what true love between a husband and wife is. Although I’ve never met my dad, I know that my mom and dad are the most well-matched couple in the world. They’ve been apart for twenty years and still hold on to their feelings for each other, something not many people can do.”

What Luo Ziling said was indeed what was in his heart; he felt that there weren’t many in the world who could stay loyal to each other for twenty years after being separated like his parents.

He was proud of them.
