These Familiars Are Strange

Chapter 279 279: Making new friends (3)

Captain Fang's disdainful look disappeared for a second as it was replaced by a look of surprise, but it quickly reappeared on his face.

With a snort, he looked at us to say, "Do you really believe everything that you're told? Little Yun, you should listen to big brother when he tells you to doubt things more. I hope that you won't be fooled that easily in the future."

Those final words of his were more than enough to tell everyone listening that he was done with this.

Yun Tian still had knitted brows, but he didn't say anything in the end.

So he just turned around with a shake of his head and led us away.

At the same time, it was as if Captain Fang completely lost interest in us as he turned back to letting himself be flattered by the surrounding people.

Those people had looked at us with sneers before quickly going back to praising Captain Fang.

It seemed that like minded people really gathered together.

Those people only cared about one thing and one thing only, so it was only natural that they all gathered like this.

The only question was…

"Why are you friends with him?"

Though I knew that this was rude, I still had to ask Yun Tian this question once we had moved far enough away from them that they wouldn't hear us talking about this.

At the same time, I knew that Yun Tian wasn't someone that would mind this question.

Shaking his head, I could see the bitter smile that appeared on his lips before he said, "He's a family friend."

He didn't need to say anything else, I immediately gave a nod of sympathy after hearing this.

There were all kinds of connections in this world and the one that was the hardest was naturally one that was connected to one's family.

There was no doubt that Yun Tian was related to some affluent family with the power that he demonstrated, so it was only natural that he would be connected to some other people from powerful families.

With the way that Captain Fang acted, it made it even more clear that he was some kind of young master.

As such, it seemed that they were connected through their families.

Sometimes family friends work out since they would be able to properly connect and become friends.

But in this case, Yun Tian and Captain Fang just acted this way around each other because they needed to act this way since it was related to their families. In a way, they were just using each other as their families needed them to.

Though earlier…I could tell that Yun Tian did seem like he at least wanted to be friends with Captain Fang even if it was something that was determined by their families.

It seemed that this Captain Fang did have some power that he was able to make Yun Tian want to befriend him.

After saying this, Yun Tian didn't say anything else as he led us over to another group.

This group hadn't been with Captain Fang's group, but we recognized them when we saw them. That was because this was a group that we had met before and had even fought with.

This was Yun Tian's personal group that followed him around.

The one that left the deepest impression on me was that person who had been able to track all of the enemies with precision. It was as if he had a bird's eye view of the entire area with how accurate his information was.

When Yun Tian walked up to them, he introduced us completely differently from how he introduced us to Captain Fang.

Unlike with Captain Fang, it seemed that he was very close with this team that followed him.

It didn't seem like they were just following him because they wanted to flatter him and build a relationship with him. It seemed that they followed him because they genuinely respected him and had a close relationship with him.

So when we were introduced, they welcomed us without any hesitation.

Since it was Yun Tian that was making this introduction, it seemed like it even broke down the walls that should have been there.

It didn't take long for us to start talking like we were old friends.

Wang Rong hit it off with the scout of their team since the two of them had similar personalities. Even though he was a scout that was supposed to be quiet and aloof, he was actually quite the talkative person when he wasn't doing his job.

He was someone that Wang Rong easily clicked with.

As for Iris, she had somehow worked her magic with the two female members of Yun Tian's group and became friends with them.

But from time to time, I could see that they were looking back in this direction.

They weren't looking at me, but rather they were looking at Yun Tian.

It wasn't hard for me to guess why they were looking at him like this, only it didn't seem like Yun Tian cared about this. It seemed like he was almost above all of this with the way that he acted.

In the end, Yun Tian said with a smile, "It's a good thing that we were able to kick it off. You should just stay with us during the fight."

I gave a nod in response before slowly turning back in the direction of Captain Fang's group.

Yun Tian guessed what I was thinking, so he said, "We were never planning on going with them in the first place. He's just a family friend, there was no need for us to go together."

Then as if he felt that it was appropriate to add something, he said, "In case things go bad, we'll go over to him and seek refuge. Even with the personality that he has, he does have some power from the family behind him."

With that, the final puzzle clicked into place and I understood Yun Tian's actions.

So I gave a simple nod in response.
