Chapter 447 The Demigods
The battlefield fell into an unnatural stillness, the air thick with tension as the Demigod Abyssal stepped forward. Its golden eyes, flecked with violet, scanned the battlefield with an almost casual indifference as if the carnage around it were nothing more than a trivial spectacle.
The Abyssal creatures, once frenzied and relentless, now knelt in submission, their grotesque forms trembling under the weight of a presence so far above them in the hierarchy.
Even the defenders, hardened by hours of brutal combat, felt their resolve waver. The sheer magnitude of the Demigod's aura was suffocating, a palpable force that pressed down on every living being within its reach.
Kain's breath caught in his throat, his fingers trembling as though his body was instinctively rejecting the idea of fighting such an entity.
He had faced high-level Abyssals before, but this… this was something else entirely. The Demigod's power was on a completely different level, a force of nature that defied comprehension. His mind raced, searching for a plan, a way to counter this overwhelming threat. But deep down, he knew that no strategy they had would be enough. Not against this.
Just as despair began to creep into the hearts of the defenders, a new presence emerged—one that rivalled the Demigod's in sheer intensity.
From within the city, a figure rose, his arrival heralded by a surge of spiritual energy that washed over the battlefield like a tidal wave—a spiritual force as radiant as the sun breaking through a storm. The sky above Ishvaran burned with golden-red light, illuminating the battlefield like dawn after an endless night.
The City-Lord of Ishvaran had finally appeared.
He descended from the sky, his figure bathed in a radiant golden light. His presence was commanding, his every movement exuding an air of authority and power.
He was tall and broad-shouldered, his armour a masterpiece of craftsmanship, adorned with intricate engravings that seemed to shimmer with an inner light. His face was stern, framed by a dishevelled mane of golden hair that flowed like liquid metal. His eyes, a piercing shade of amber, glowed with an intensity that matched the Demigod's.
"Lord Valenar Ishvaran," Nadia murmured, her voice filled with a mix of awe and relief. "He's here."
Neither the natives nor Kain's group could resist staring at the City Lord, practically to the point of impoliteness. After all, 9-star beast-tamers were incredibly rare and even despite being members of the Order, neither Benji, Nadia, Claudia, nor Clara, had ever seen one in person before. They weren't exactly easy to meet.
In fact, the only reason Kain had seen 9-star beast-tamers was due to his first Black Mission when he infiltrated a high-level auction.
And even then it wasn't as though he'd gotten to really see them fight or feel the full extent of their auras, since they'd restrained much of the pressure their bodies would emit during the auction. If they hadn't, many weaker individuals sitting in the hall may have collapsed then and there from their auras alone.
The Demigod Abyssal tilted its head, its expression unreadable but its gaze fixed on Valenar. For a moment, the two stood facing each other, the battlefield holding its breath as the tension between them reached a breaking point.
The weight of their auras clashed, the battlefield trembling under the sheer force of their existence.
Then, without warning, the Demigod Abyssal moved. It was a blur of motion, its form shifting and twisting as it closed the distance between them in an instant. Its clawed hand lashed out, aiming to strike Valenar with a force that could shatter mountains.
But Valenar was faster.
The City-Lord's ethereal blade intercepted the attack, the clash of their powers sending a shockwave that rippled across the battlefield. The ground beneath them cracked and splintered, the sheer force of their collision creating a crater that swallowed the nearest Abyssals whole.
In the first confrontation, the City Lord definitely seemed to be on the weaker side, pushed back dozens of meters while deflecting the enemy's blow. But he wasn't alone.
With a single movement, Azar unleashed his contracts. Two titanic figures materialized beside him—two more demigod-level beings had appeared on the field.
One appeared like an eastern dragon, its long serpentine body had red scales burning with divine flames.
The other was an armoured giant, a colossal warrior wrapped in red and golden energy, its every movement exuding overwhelming strength and heat.
The moment they appeared, the atmosphere shifted once more. Their combined presence was enough to counterbalance and even greatly pressure the demigod Abyssal. And then, in a flash, the two sides collided.@@novelbin@@
The dragon's roar shook the battlefield as it lunged, its fiery breath surging forth like an inferno to meet the abyssal demigod's outstretched hand. The titan followed, raising its massive warhammer and bringing it down with enough force to fracture the very ground beneath them.
Valenar's expression remained calm, almost serene, as he fought along his contracts to increase the pressure on the Abyssal. His blade flared with red-golden light, and with a swift, precise motion, he slashed upward, forcing the Demigod to retreat into the path of his contracts' Warhammer—a devastating blow it was forced to take on with a hastily conjured shield of Abyssal energy.
The Abyssal hissed, its golden eyes narrowing as it reassessed its opponents.
The battle between the demigods was unlike anything Kain had ever witnessed—truly befitting their title as god-like beings.
Their movements were a blur, their attacks so fast and powerful that they seemed to warp the very fabric of reality. Each clash of their powers sent shockwaves through the air, the ground trembling beneath their feet. The defenders and Abyssals alike were forced to retreat, the sheer intensity of their battle making it impossible to remain close.
Yet City Lord Valenar Ishvaran was not finished.
His violet-grade contracts—unable to put up much resistance to the Demigod level figures—spread out across the battlefield to alleviate the pressure on the city guards.
A radiant phoenix soared overhead, its golden flames searing through abyssal ranks. A twin-headed serpent slithered between enemy lines, wherever it passed a scorched serpentine trail remaining. A lion cloaked in fire charged forward, its thunderous roar sending lesser Abyssals into a panic. And more fire-attribute spiritual creatures that ranged from a couple of indigo-grade ones that appeared to be juveniles, to stronger violet-grade contracts, all rushed into the enemy army and trampled on them easily.
The defenders of Ishvaran, seeing their City Lord in action for the first time, felt their spirits ignite. The once-despairing soldiers now fought with renewed vigor, pushing back against the tide of Abyssals. The pressure on the city walls lifted, and for the first time since the battle had begun, it felt as if victory was imminent.
Kain, watching from afar, exhaled a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. "Unbelievable…"
Yet, even with the battlefield shifting in their favor, his unease did not fade.

The demigod Abyssal, though now engaged in battle with the City Lord and his contracts, did not appear desperate or even slightly concerned. It was as if it had been waiting for something.
And then, the earth rumbled.
Kain's stomach twisted. He turned his head, and what he saw made his blood run cold.
From the abyssal ranks, a new war machine emerged. It was larger than the others—easily towering over the battlefield like a behemoth of blackened metal. Its form pulsed with abyssal energy, its veins glowing not just with the usual golden and red hues, but now streaked with deep violet, an unsettling change.
Its limbs bore abyssal runes, thrumming with power unlike any of the previous machines.
The defenders, just regaining their morale, faltered once more at the sight of the monstrous war engine.
Benji cursed. "You've got to be kidding me. Another one?"
What do you think?
