This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!

Chapter 125: 125: Opening the Eyes

Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Opening the Eyes

“Miles, something feels off,” Chen Ke re-entered the memory. Laven stood on the right, Miles on the left.

It was as if everything had restarted; this was his third entry into this memory sequence. Slightly different from the previous two times, Chen Ke now knew what danger this trade was going to face.

The white, fluttering ghostly woman in mid-air seemed to attack by using thin threads…

Although he did not know the principle behind it, she had said a phrase that particularly concerned him,

“The bugs of the Consortium and the deformities of Yasla must be eradicated.”

It seemed no matter what the third organization was, it bore a deep grudge against the other two powers.

The Consortium’s bugs—a clear disdain for the ordinary people in the Consortium who could only use guns, perhaps including those secret Spiritual Ability Killers.

The deformities of Yasla… That was something to ponder.

Miles looked back at Chen Ke, then scanned the surroundings.

“Are you serious?” he asked cautiously.

“Lin Mo is our radar; if he says it is, then it is,” Laven had no objections.

Chen Ke narrowed his eyes; it seemed Lin Mo’s Transcendent Skill could actively detect enemies, somewhat similar to a life countdown.

“What’s off, Lin Mo?” Miles inquired.

Chen Ke kept silent. His current idea was very simple, to make this situation different from the last.

In a little while, the ghostly woman would arrive and start a massacre. None of the people at the scene would escape disaster.

This also meant that the trade could not be completed.

Chen Ke was not sure if Hainerd was among the people below, after all, he had never seen Hainerd.

The failure of memory synchronization might also be due to the trade not being completed.

Though he did not know what benefits completing synchronization would bring.

How to complete the trade in the face of this deadly attack? Chen Ke did not have a clue yet, but at least, he could try to prevent the first time paradox from happening.

Laven and Miles must stay alive.

“People are coming to attack the trade, and they are almost here,” Chen Ke said with the tone of a soothsayer.

“Then we attack them first,” Laven chambered a round in her MAC10.

Miles was indifferent; he seemed not to believe Chen Ke’s words, or rather, Lin Mo’s words.

“My intuition for danger isn’t telling me there’s any risk nearby, Lin Mo. Did you see something? Is it Yasla’s people?” Miles asked.

“No, not Yasla; it’s something more terrifying than them. I can’t see clearly, but they seem to appear right where we are hiding,” Chen Ke shook his head.

Miles was taken aback for a moment, a flash of anxiety across his face.

Chen Ke caught that flicker of change but kept quiet.

“We’d better check it out, Laven. You keep watch on the trade here,” Miles patted Chen Ke’s shoulder, gesturing for him to follow.

“You and Miles check the entrance. I’ll keep monitoring the trade. I’ve got a bad feeling Yasla won’t play fair,” Laven said with a smile.

Chen Ke was startled; the situation was becoming similar to the last memory…

“I think the three of us should stick together,” Chen Ke added.

“Someone has to keep an eye on the trade. You go with Miles and check the surroundings; I’ll follow in a bit. Go on,” Laven said with a smile.

“Let’s go, kid,” said Miles, without further discussion, he grabbed Chen Ke’s arm and started to drag him away.

Even though Chen Ke had changed what he said, offering key information ahead of time, the direction of everything still gravitated toward their original course due to an irresistible force.

He started to think rapidly, combining the information he had obtained to analyze the events in this memory sequence that were destined to happen and unchangeable.

Laven and Miles would not die here.

Laven and Miles had temporarily separated.

These two things were unchangeable, otherwise they either faced synchronization failure or the memory sequence forcibly correcting the course of reality…

“Watch your head, Laven—the other side might attack you like a ghost. They could poke out your eyes, slice off your nose, cut you in half at the waist, and even yank out your spine…” Chen Ke seriously warned as he walked ahead.

“Oh… Lin Mo, are you trying to scare me?” Laven asked, licking her tongue.

“I’m not scaring you, I’m warning you,” Chen Ke said.

“That’s a very specific warning, sounds interesting… I never knew your eyes could see the future, what’s about to happen,” Laven said with a mocking tone.

“You’re a bit off today, Lin Mo, I hope you’ve actually seen something. But if you’re just being unreasonable, I’ll gouge out your eyes,” Miles threatened, grabbing Chen Ke’s collar.

“We’ll see, big guy. Just wait and see,” Chen Ke said, staring into Miles’s eyes, disdainfully.

The three fell silent for a moment before Miles let go of Chen Ke and took his shotgun from his back, gesturing for Chen Ke to follow him.

Chen Ke and Miles walked towards the sewer exit, and all along the way, he kept looking back.

From what Miles and Laven said, Lin Mo’s Transcendent Skill was associated with the action of “seeing”.

He opened his eyes wide and looked all around, attempting to activate the Spiritual Power within his body.

This was not easy, for Chen Ke did not know how to use the spiritual energy. The life countdown was controlled by the flow of consciousness, while spiritual energy, undoubtedly, was more like some sort of qigong or something else that needed to be actively incited.

He tried holding his breath, widening his eyes, blinking, and even creating a set of breathing rhythms, but to no avail.

Chen Ke recalled how Pihom had once told him that in this world, spiritual energy was injected into the spine, which meant its function was still controlled by brain commands in a nerve transmission pattern…

Chen Ke suddenly stopped, closed his eyes and fell into deep thought.

“Hey, what’s up?” Miles asked, annoyed as he noticed Chen Ke had fallen behind after walking for a bit.

He made a “shush” gesture, continually reminding himself deep within his mind.

“I need to see, I need to see, I need to see…”

“See… see… see… see…”

He felt a warm current flowing through his back, but the sensation was not intense enough.

“Lin Mo!” Miles suddenly slapped Chen Ke on the shoulder.

Chen Ke startled and opened his eyes, the sensation he had been nurturing all but dissipated…

“What are you doing? You’re acting strangely today,” Miles inquired.

“I’m trying to observe the future,” Chen Ke said irritably.

“Then please tell me, what am I doing a year from now?” Miles chuckled.

“I don’t know, Miles, but whatever your outcome is in a year, it won’t be a good one,” Chen Ke responded coldly.

Miles didn’t speak and loaded his shotgun, glancing in Laven’s direction.

“Miles, if you were to use a Holy Relic, what would you think?” Chen Ke asked suddenly.

“It depends on what Holy Relic I have in my hand,” Miles replied simply.

“What’s the difference?” asked Chen Ke.

“If it’s an ax, I would tell myself to aim for the head. If it’s a sword, I’d tell myself to go for the heart,” Miles said with a laugh.

Chen Ke closed his eyes, a thought growing clearer and clearer in his mind.

Behind him, a warm current rose—a liquefied spiritual energy boiling within his spine.

He opened his eyes, and the entire world was as if scanned by radar. Waves that only Chen Ke could see radiated from him, automatically distinguishing the outlines of all living beings around him, whether human or not, within his sight.

And his pupils turned into a gem-like blue, shining as brightly as LED lights in the dark.

“Thanks, Miles!” Chen Ke said with a smile.

He turned around to look in Laven’s direction where the silhouette of a woman floating in the air was stealthily closing in.
