This Spiritual Energy is Lethal!

Chapter 143: Chapter 143 [Three-Day Heist: Pulito Bank] Completed

The whip blade was like a brown centipede, as if it had its own life, whistling terrifyingly through the air as it lashed toward Chen Ke.

He rolled to the side to dodge the attack.

The whip blade left a long, deep ravine in the muddy ground. The strange man pulled back, retracting the whip blade. Chen Ke glanced at the dirt, only to find it filled with corrosive, bubbling acid.

Could this whip blade possibly have a corrosion attribute as well? Was it a Holy Relic, or part of the monster’s body?

Chen Ke didn’t ponder long, for a flash of white light enveloped him, and he donned a tattered coat from the Victorian era.

“The Doctor’s Old Overcoat”

[Durability: Average]

[Corrosion Protection: Acid damage reduction, immunity to splash-type acid damage, and half damage from soaking acid.]

This coat had helped Chen Ke fight the toad god and had accompanied him through his trying journey in the white-crowned chapel in the Fan Hede Kingdom. The enemies he had previously faced had never utilized the garment’s properties, but today, it had its chance to prove itself.

“Hand it over! You don’t stand a chance,” the monster said.

“You sure are ugly,” Chen Ke retorted. A surge of red killing intent billowed behind him, rushing toward the monster in an instant.

It had to be said, while not entirely useless, the full force of the killing intent only managed to stun it for a second. Clearly, the killing intent was only intimidating to ordinary people; it had limited effect on something as terrifying as this monster.

But that one second of vulnerability was enough.

Chen Ke knelt on one knee, his right hand gripping a short sword in reverse, and he snapped his fingers against the ground.

One hour’s worth of Spiritual Energy burst forth with immense thrust, and the reactive force catapulted him diagonally upwards. Chen Ke flew over three meters away and more than one meter high.

In mid-air, he aimed directly for the monster’s head and violently stabbed the green short sword downwards.

However, the whip blade thwarted Chen Ke’s attempt, moving like a venomous snake behind him and tightly coiling around his sword-wielding arm—the acid sizzled on his right sleeve.

“Nice try, but your song and dance is over!” The monster regained its senses and reached for Chen Ke’s Holy Relics coat with its other hand.

Chen Ke again activated the killing intent trigger. As long as the killing intent flowed endlessly, he could use it indefinitely to control his opponent to death!

Having learned from the previous encounter, the monster summoned all its concentration to resist when it sensed the anomaly, but it still gave Chen Ke a half-second opening.

“Spend 20 minutes of life span to identify the Holy Relic.”

“Spend 30 minutes to summon the Holy Relic.”

Chen Ke’s left hand glowed with an orange halo, and the Blasphemous Dagger appeared in his grasp!

As if starting afresh, he jammed the dagger into the monster’s lower jaw and into its brain, even stirring it around with the handle. The pain caused the monster to stick out its tongue, roll its eyes back, and make an expression that seemed utterly befuddled.

The monster fell to its knees, the whip blade retracted into its sleeve, transforming back into a palm, and then it collapsed on the ground. Chen Ke extracted the dagger, returning it to its form as an orange Holy Relics diamond, adorned with the monster’s brain matter and blood.

Chen Ke wiped the diamond clean with the monster’s hood and pocketed it before turning to look for Lucina.

She lay on the ground, unconscious from pain, just six or seven steps away from Chen Ke.

Chen Ke had just taken a step when a wisp of black mist emerged beside Lucina. The mist took shape, becoming a bald, naked female with a purple mark on her forehead.

“The Silent Witch!?” Chen Ke inhaled sharply. He summoned the green short sword back into his hand and took a fighting stance. He hadn’t expected this witch to possess Laven’s Transcendent ability to turn into mist!

The bald witch gazed at the monster’s corpse beside Chen Ke and wore an expression full of resentment. She embraced Lucina from the ground and gave Chen Ke a sinister smile.

“If you want her, exchange her for the thing,” the witch said indifferently.

Not good… Chen Ke thought of the worst-case scenario.

He saw a red halo appear in the witch’s pupils, and a vortex of red light emerged behind them. Chen Ke had seen this skill before! It was the same skill that Laven used to transport herself to the shopping mall rooftop from the hamburger restaurant!

She intended to take Lucina away.

Chen Ke instantly acted, snapping his fingers towards the ground and launching himself at the Silent Witch.

But with a flash of red light, the witch and Lucina disappeared on the spot, and by the time Chen Ke landed, his short sword had pierced into the mud.

Chen Ke still harbored a sliver of hope. Perhaps the skill’s transportation distance was limited? He immediately activated Spiritual Vision, scanning all living beings within a hundred-meter radius.

Whether on the opposite side of the river, in the woods, or on the nearby road, he couldn’t find any targets.

Chen Ke stood there feeling a sense of emptiness.

He took out his phone to call Pihom, but couldn’t find any trace of it on him.

Chen Ke returned to the wrecked vehicle to search and found his Nokia E63 with a broken screen. The accident had been too severe; even a Nokia couldn’t survive.

But to leave no evidence behind, he pocketed the damaged phone and picked up the M16A2 that had fallen into the mud.

As for Lucina’s MP5, he couldn’t find it. It must have been swept away into the river along with several bags of money from the trunk…

Chen Ke sighed and counted the remaining bags of money scattered on the ground before driving away alone in the escape vehicle hidden in the woods to the gun shop.

When Chen Ke returned to the gun store, it was around 3 in the afternoon. The gun store was closed. He parked the car in the backyard, leaned against the van, and then, carrying the gun and money bags, walked into the safe house.

Pihom and Hall were sitting at the table, while Priskin was playing with a radio power amplifier and repeatedly calling Chen Ke and Lucina’s names through the headphones to the point that they didn’t notice Chen Ke when he entered the safe house.

“Hey,” Chen Ke called out, tossing the money bag onto the floor.

The three looked up, their worried expressions dissipating. Priskin threw off his headphones and ran over to give Chen Ke a bear hug.

“I knew you’d be fine, hahaha! What happened on your end? Why didn’t you respond to the radio for so long?” Hall slapped Chen Ke on the shoulder.

“Where’s Lucina? I bet she’s still sitting in Boss Tang’s car!” Priskin laughed.

Only Pihom saw through Chen Ke’s mood.

When Chen Ke remained silent, their initial joy froze on their faces.

“What happened, Chen Ke?” Hall asked.

“I lost Lucina,” Chen Ke slowly said.

A silence fell over the three.

After a dozen seconds.

“Is she dead?” Priskin cautiously asked.

“No… not dead… just captured…” Chen Ke shook his head.

“Hahaha! No big deal! Just reel her back in, right?” Hall laughed.

“Hall…” Pihom seemed to realize the seriousness of the situation.

“The organization that took Lucina is called Yasla. They are a far more dangerous existence than any Spiritual Ability User…” Chen Ke shook his head.

If a Spiritual Ability User was someone who wielded Spiritual Power, those people in Yasla were neither human nor ghost; no one knew how they had become what they were.

Again, the three fell into silence.
