Chapter 409 - 37: Accident
Chapter 409: Chapter 37: Accident
Ji Chuan’s brows furrowed slightly as he focused his gaze on the Origin Demon, or more precisely, on the Prime Lion it commanded.
In his perception, the Origin Demon represented a peak Fourth Grade existence.
With equal cultivation, he feared no one.
But the Prime Lion emanated a terrifyingly peak Fifth Grade presence.
He could punch above his weight and defeat foes, but only if they were limited to the Initial Stage or Middle Stage of Void Refining.
If an opponent possessed the strength of a peak Fifth Grade, such a vast difference in rank could nullify his advantages in intent, cultivation techniques, and swordsmanship.
To put it simply, it was like a cunning child pitted against a brawny adult whose sheer brute force trumps skill: the child would have no choice but to concede defeat. @@novelbin@@
The Origin Demon glanced at the Jiuyou Hall Master and Hei Luo, who were both severely wounded.
Especially Hei Luo, whose Blood Qi was nearly depleted, evidently at the end of his tether.
Then, with a sinister gaze, the Origin Demon turned to Ji Chuan and Lu Qingshan. “Nascent Soul Stage sword cultivators have forced you to seek my aid?”
Immediately afterward, a glimmer of realization flashed through the Origin Demon’s eyes, and his pupils contracted slightly. “Disciples of the Sword Sect!”
The Jiuyou Hall Master had previously reported to him that two Sword Sect disciples had arrived at Burial Ridge to rescue the Qiu Family.
And the two cultivators before him were both Sword Cultivators who had, with their Nascent Soul Cultivation, pressured the Jiuyou Hall Master and Hei Luo, both with Void Refining Cultivation, into this wretched state.
Who else could they be if not Sword Sect disciples?
There was a temporary silence and eeriness to the scene.
After a moment, the Origin Demon spoke in a sinister tone, “Disciples of the Sword Sect… Out of respect for your sect, I won’t make things difficult for you.
Leave Burial Ridge now and ignore my affairs, and I promise not to stop you.”
At these words, the Jiuyou Hall Master’s heart skipped a beat, and he spoke up to warn, “My lord, but…”
The Origin Demon turned his head, his gaze sharp as a knife, slashing a look at the Jiuyou Hall Master and scolded furiously, “Shut your mouth!”
Under the scolding of the Origin Demon, Jiuyou Hall Master’s face turned alternately green and white.
Despite being the Hall Master, he was publicly reprimanded by an Origin Demon, whom he regarded as little more than a cub, leaving him feeling extremely humiliated.
What made it harder for him was the lack of further escalation between the two parties, as things seemed to be settling down.
This did not serve his interests.
In his current situation, however, he had no choice but to swallow his frustrations.
“The scheme to harvest living souls…” Ji Chuan murmured to himself, slowly raising his head. His gaze became colder as he stared intently at the Origin Demon and asked each word deliberately, “Did you, the Origin Demon, leave your homeland to invade Burial Ridge on your orders?”
Caught off guard by Ji Chuan’s questioning, the Origin Demon paused, then replied as if it were a matter of course, “Yes, it was by my order, but it’s just the lives of some mortals and minor cultivators.”
“Just some mortals and minor cultivators…” Ji Chuan closed his eyes slightly, as if he could see many scenes flashing by.
The world a vast expanse of white, with the rain spurting crimson blood, the torrential downpour mixed with children’s wails and monsters’ roars echoing, the ‘toads’ turning into corpses, and that pale-faced woman hoping for a peaceful life for her younger brother.
“Just… some mortals and minor cultivators.” Ji Chuan repeated the filthy words that made him feel sick, then suddenly opened his eyes, a cold light flickering within them.
At this moment, he had made his decision.
“Junior brother, when I make my move, leave this place immediately,” Lu Qingshan suddenly received a Divine Sense message from Ji Chuan.
Lu Qingshan understood what Ji Chuan meant.
Though against millions, one must seek the direct path and not the devious one.
This was the world’s most “willful” Sword Cultivator’s choice, and it was Ji Chuan’s decision.
Ji Chuan gripped the Green Waist Sword tightly, gazing at the Origin Demon perched atop the Prime Lion.
He prepared to take the head of the Origin Demon from the hands of a peak Fifth Grade powerhouse.
Did he have a high chance of success?
Of course not.
That’s why he insisted that Lu Qingshan leave as soon as he acted.
That way, even if he failed in the end, Lu Qingshan would not be implicated.
But it was something he had to do.
“This sword seeks to settle the world’s injustices,” was the motto of the Green Waist Sword.
It was this very motto that had touched him and led him to choose the Green Waist as his Life-bound Sword.
There were too many injustices in the world, and he knew that a single sword couldn’t smooth them all out.
But this was his ambition and passion, his perseverance, and faith.
If there were no hope, he wouldn’t embark on a suicidal path.
But as long as there was a chance, no matter how slim, he would not give up easily.
Because when he chose the Green Waist, he was prepared to uphold justice for the world’s wrongs.
On the other side, upon seeing the Origin Demon riding the Prime Lion, a thought suddenly struck Lu Qingshan.
Without hesitation, Lu Qingshan immediately communicated his hunch to Ji Chuan.
“My mind is made up,” Ji Chuan said with a smile in response to Lu Qingshan.
After a moment of silence, Lu Qingshan spoke, “Senior brother, I might be able to help.”
“But…”
Lu Qingshan also said, “My mind is made up.”
Ji Chuan thought for a bit, smiled, and finally nodded his head.
…
The Origin Demon quietly watched Ji Chuan and Lu Qingshan, waiting for them to make their final, correct decision.
Swoosh!
Contrary to the Origin Demon’s expectations, and those of the Jiuyou Hall Master.
With the sudden force of a thunderbolt, before the Origin Demon could react, a black-and-white Sword Light emerged, dragging along a river of light, roaring mightily as it swept toward him.
