Chapter 548: Divine Dragon
“Everyone, the Nine Heavens Emperor has sealed the realm beast! The demons have no more trump cards. Now is the time to play our part. Now is the time to defeat them!” Minister Everpast’s voice echoed through the battlefield, directly appearing in the minds of the humans and demons.
His words weren’t just to raise the morale of the immortals, but also to demoralize the Demon Clan. With the ruckus caused by the aftereffects of the clash between the Nine Heavens Nebulous Titan and the realm beast, it was impossible for them to not notice the change, but pointing it out would only enhance the effect. Even if it was obvious. That way, some people couldn’t deceive themselves.
“Don’t listen to the humans! The realm beast is only trapped for the moment. Soon, their seal will fail and the realm beast will unleash its revenge on these cunning humans!” the Qilin Patriarch retorted. His voice was full of confidence, as if he truly believed his own words, but the lowered morale did not increase.
The Qilin Patriarch also knew this. Thus, he discussed it with Demon Emperor Redraco and the other two patriarchs. Helpless, they could only retreat to the True Dragon Realm, Phoenix Realm, and Qilin Realm. They used the three demon realms to form a massive protective formation.
Once the protective formation was formed, the humans did not attack again. Although they held the upper hand, they also suffered quite a bit of casualties. They also retreated, but to Shangri-La II. It didn’t have the offensive or defensive measures of the first once, but it still held an abundant amount of spiritual qi. More than enough for every immortal to absorb and recuperate their injuries.
The two sides entered a ceasefire. The demons did not let down their formation, for they knew that once they did, the humans would immediately resume their assault. Now, it was only a matter of time before the humans attacked again.
Both sides were waiting for the battle between the Nine Heavens Emperor and the realm beast to come to a conclusion.
The Demon Clan did not believe the Nine Heavens Emperor could hold on forever against the realm beast. As for victory, it was just as impossible. Even if the immortal emperor had a vast amount of qi, could it compare to a realm beast? The humans retreating to Shangri-La II also increased this viewpoint. In their eyes, the humans were recuperating to set up a second plan to contain the realm beast.
“How is it? Can you handle the realm beast?” Minister Everpast asked. He was standing in the core of the mobile fortress.
It was the heart of where all the spiritual qi originated from. Naturally, one of Tianyi’s conduits sat in the center. Immortal qi of primordial chaos constantly left his body and was processed into spiritual qi of heaven and earth by a formation, before being released into Shangri-La II.
Minister Everpast had visited the room immediately after entering Shangri-La II, but at that time, Tianyi did not pay attention to him. He just sat there in a lotus position, automatically releasing his immortal qi of primordial chaos. It was only now that Tianyi opened his eyes and paid attention to the outside world.
Tianyi nodded. “The realm beast is no longer a problem. It entered a dormant state. It’s the Heavenly Dao that’s the problem now. I’m trying to take it, but the Heavenly Dao won’t let me. It’ll take a while before the struggle will end.”
Minister Everpast’s heart stilled. He heard what Tianyi said, but why does it seem so fantastical?
Before entering hibernation, his willpower had already reached the limit. Had he not been conferred the position of immortal minister, he would have died in a few thousand years at most. And now, he had much, much longer. But just because he could live for over a hundred times longer didn’t mean he wasn’t affected. Like true immortals reaching the end of their lives, his emotions were extremely dull. Yet, Tianyi’s words still made him feel shocked.
Struggling with the Heavenly Dao? Only the most powerful of divinities such as the Three Pure Ones dared to commit such blasphemy.
However, after the initial surprise, he didn’t dwell on the matter and asked Tianyi how long it would take. From Tianyi’s words, he knew that the realm beast was no longer a problem. He wanted a time estimate so he could devise a plan against the Demon Clan.
“Oh right, can you listen to what the Numinous Sword Sect is planning? Emperor Southsword summoned Emperor Qingping and the other monarchs,” Minister Everpast said.
Qingping was Bao Ling’s daoist title.
Tianyi turned his head toward the direction where the Numinous Sword Sect stayed. After a few seconds, he frowned. Finally, he shook his head. “They used some method to isolate an area. I can’t detect what they are doing. Do you want me to try to infiltrate them? They might not be able to sense my probing, but I can’t guarantee it.”
“No need. Right now, we are at a critical juncture. If we have a fallout before the final push, it wouldn’t be worth it,” Minister Everpast said. “I’ll leave now and discuss with Vastlight and the others on how to proceed.”
“Goodbye,” Tianyi said. Before Minister Everpast even left, he closed his eyes and became as still as a statue.
Emperor Southsword glanced at all the attendees. “How is it? Have you felt if anything was different on Shangri-La II compared to Shangri-La?”
Like the Demon Clan, Emperor Southsword was shocked that the Buzhou Immortal Court could bring out another mobile fortress. Although he was surprised by how dense the spiritual qi on Shangri-La was, he wasn’t too affected. The Numinous Sword Sect also had its own mobile fortress, and except for the production and density of the spiritual qi, it exceeded Shangri-La in all aspects. However, that was because of the Allheaven Jianmu Tree.
It was a different matter now that the Buzhou Immortal Court brought out another mobile fortress. The most shocking thing was that it was exactly the same as the first, as if built from the same template. Had the Buzhou Immortal Court mastered a method to produce mobile fortresses at a low cost?
The reason he thought so was because, except for the artifacts, palace, and formations, the second mobile fortress was exactly the same as the first mobile fortress. Not just him, but the sword monarchs did not discover anything different.
“How terrifying. The Buzhou Immortal Court might not only have two, but maybe even more,” a sword monarch commented.@@novelbin@@
“Don’t be ridiculous. How can their mobile fortress compare to ours?”
“But what if they have more? Each recovery ability is greater than ours. Just having two Shangri-Las is enough to give us a headache. If they have a third, or even a fourth…” Although the sword monarch didn’t finish, the people present understood his implicit words.
Emperor Southsword looked towards Bao Ling. “Qingping, what do you think?”
Bao Ling, who was leaning against the wall and hugging his sword to his chest, glanced over. “They only have two for now. But that doesn’t mean they can’t have more.”
“Two, how do you know?” Emperor Southsword asked, puzzled. Did Bao Ling mean that the Buzhou Immortal Court only produced more and they really mastered a method to produce it at a low cost? Unfortunately, Bao Ling turned away.
Emperor Southsword suppressed his rising temper. He looked away. “This matter will require more discussion after the war ends. For now, we will focus on the final push against the Demon Clan. Everpast has assured me that the Nine Heavens Emperor has dealt with the realm beast, and we only need to focus on breaking through the protective formation the Demon Clan set up. But I find it highly improbable.”
It wasn’t just him, but the other immortals also held similar views. Deal with a realm beast? Only a divinity had the qualifications. Not even ten immortal sovereigns could accomplish this feat, much less a single emperor. Only Bao Ling didn’t show any disbelief. Of course, he always remained neutral in expression, so the others thought he simply didn’t show it.
“We will attack the protective formation when the black sphere disappears. In my opinion, they must have paid a price to seal the realm beast or teleport it away. I agreed to Everpast’s plan. However, we must stay wary. If the realm beast appears, make sure to defend yourself,” Emperor Southsword said.
Between the Numinous Sword Sect and Buzhou Immortal Court, the former suffered more casualties. Sword immortals were powerful in terms of offensive means, but most of them lacked defensive or life-saving means. This led to them suffering more deaths and injuries. Not to mention the unexpected disaster when the Nine Heavens Nebulous Titan and realm beast clashed.
The other sword monarchs agreed. Thus, they began to discuss how to cooperate and any contingencies should any accidents occur.
Soon, the appointed time arrived. Most of the immortals had enough time to heal their injuries, either using pills, other resources, or just natural regeneration. Most who hadn’t fully healed still took part. Only those with grievous injuries stayed behind. That wasn’t all. Both hegemonic forces added additional forces from their home base, the Primordial and Numinous Realms.
Although they didn’t double their numbers, their numbers increased by fifty percent. Of course, the high-end combat powers were only bolstered a little bit. Most of the additions were true immortals who had returned to rest and some new faces.
Emperor Southsword sighed. Among the Numinous Sword Sect, the promising Ye Chen and Meng Tingfeng both disappeared after fighting the East Sea Dragon King. No matter how talented they were, even if they were half-emperors, they were facing a bona fide demon emperor. So it wasn’t a surprise they lost. It was only a pity that the two talents with the highest chance of reaching the Extremity Immortal Realm fell.
At the very least, Monarch Solesword, the previous monarch most likely to become an emperor, showed signs of reaching the Extremity Immortal Realm. With some effort and a little bit of luck, he should be able to become a sword emperor after the war ends.
Now, most of the immortals were staring at the three demon realms. Only a few stared at the black sphere.
Minister Everpast narrowed his eyes when he saw the sphere shrink. It was only a slight decrease in size, almost imperceptible. Had he not been paying attention, he might have thought it was an illusion. Soon, he wasn’t the only one as other immortals noticed.
The immortals watched with bated breath as the black sphere continued to shrink. After a certain size, they couldn’t help but become excited because the realm beast’s body mass was larger than the current size of the sphere. Meaning that the realm beast had been taken care of. None of them thought the Nine heavens Emperor had killed the realm beast. They all thought he used some special method to send it away. After all, they knew that he was talented in the Law of Spacetime.
After reaching a thousand kilometers in size, it burst, revealing a man with a golden coronet adorning his head and purple robes clothing his body. He was Xi Tianyi, the Nine Heavens Emperor. He disappeared and reappeared next to Minister Everpast.
“Excellent work,” Minister Everpast said. “How are you holding up? Can you continue fighting? If you can’t, I understand.”
Although Tianyi appeared fine, Minister Everpast would understand if he was actually injured and couldn’t take part. However, Tianyi just shook his head. “I’m okay, just a little fatigued. As long as I don’t fight an emperor or sovereign, I should be fine.”
He glanced toward the first Shangri-La, which was still sealing the Black Tortoise. “He hasn’t died yet? How tenacious.”
“We’re surprised. The Black Tortoise’s existence is preventing us from using Shangri-La,” Minister Everpast said. “Since you’re present, we’ll soon start bombarding the protective formation. I’m afraid that I’ll have to count on you to do the heavy lifting.”
“No problem, leave it to me,” Tianyi said.
Minister Everpast nodded. He contacted the other leaders. Soon, all the immortals started attacking the three demon realms. They shot spells of fire, water, earth, wood, metal, wind, lightning, light, darkness, and many other properties. Most sword immortals held their swords, waiting to play their part. A few unsheathed their blades and shot endless sword lights at the protective formation.
None of them could compare to Tianyi, who returned to his usual modus operandi: shooting Stellar Silences. He could also shoot Constellation Cessations, but it would put more pressure on his mind, so he didn’t.
Tianyi thought they would continue until the protective formation broke, but moments away from it breaking, a golden light enveloped the void, filling the lifeless area with an earthen aura.
A gigantic dragon with golden yellow scales and nine claws on each hand and feet appeared. His size was immense, dwarfing even the realm beast. Two whiskers the same length as his body undulated back and forth. He radiated an aura that made even immortal emperors involuntarily bow. Only a few emperors and the sovereigns could remain standing.
It was a divine dragon!
What do you think?
