Chapter 557: Nine Heavens Universe Immortals

Chapter 557: Nine Heavens Universe Immortals

Strictly speaking, inserting a restraint into immortals was not a bad idea from the universe’s point of view. Not only could it suppress the immortals should they rebel, but it should increase the benefits the universe gains once the immortal dies or his comprehension increases. However, there would always be a chance of an immortal breaking free from the limits of the universe and posing a threat.

Now that Tianyi thought about it, wasn’t he one such case? Perhaps that’s the source of the Heavenly Dao’s hostility toward him. His original thought was that he could absorb the resources of the Three Thousand Immortal Realm’s System into his inner universe.

However, just because he discovered the likely truth didn’t mean Tianyi would lessen his animosity toward the Heavenly Dao. After striking him with lightning so many times, how could he turn the other cheek?

Not everything was bad. After learning more about the Heavenly Dao’s secrets, he gained a clearer understanding about the limits.

Tianyi returned to the Nine Heavens Palace on Ninth Heaven to deduce a more perfect method to become immortal in the Nine Heavens Universe. The spacetime on Sixth Heaven outside of cultivation online slowed down too. He didn’t want to give the saints false hope and have them doubt his power. He wanted the next person to undergo the Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation to succeed.

He could speed up the time on Ninth Heaven, but that would do little to help him. His brain wasn’t inside his conduit, but the universe itself. It could speed up the perception of his conduit, but his conduit only took a fraction of his entire consciousness. Unless he was practicing a technique, it was pretty pointless.

Soon, a hundred years passed and Tianyi appeared in the Nine Heavens Temple again. Looking at the remaining saints, he bestowed upon them a new version of the cultivation method. Compared to the original cultivation method, there was only an additional step: to prepare the cultivator’s body to become a suitable body to contain the essence of the Nine Heavens Universe.

Compared to the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, the essence of the Nine Heavens Universe was different. Naturally, it could not be integrated with the cultivator upon the completion of their Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation. It accounted for half of their failure. Because Tianyi didn’t prepare such a thing, the cultivators who attempted to fuse the essence of heaven and earth couldn’t succeed because Tianyi didn’t provide any for them.

Tianyi called the Nine Heavens Universe’s unique essence, Nine Heavens Quintessence.

Thinking back, Tianyi couldn’t help but wipe an imaginary cold sweat. His Nine-Five Scripture integrated many points from the Primordial Heavenly Scripture and portions of the other Ten Heavenly Scriptures. If he used any other cultivation method, he might have failed to become an immortal, even after succeeding his Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation. Or maybe the birth of his inner universe negated all of that. After all, Ba Shifang succeeded in becoming an immortal with the Nine-Five Scripture.

After some thought, Tianyi realized he was overthinking. If it was so hard to create a method to merge the soul with the universe’s quintessence, then there wouldn’t be so many cultivation methods. Granted, not all of them could succeed, but there were many tried-and-true methods.

Because of this, Tianyi named the new cultivation the Universal Immortal Method. Universal did not refer to the Nine Heavens Universe, but that it was compatible with all lifeforms, even demons. In Tianyi’s eyes, the new demons were also denizens of the Nine Heavens Universe.

Of course, because it was a universal method, it was balanced in all aspects and the difficulty in learning wasn’t hard. Conversely, it could be used as the foundation for new cultivation methods of the Nine Heavens Universe.

‘Can I create a method to become an immortal without the essence of heaven and earth?’ Tianyi asked himself. However, he felt that the difficulty might reach the level of becoming a divinity directly as a mortal. He didn’t think many people could succeed. Perhaps even in the entire Three Thousand Immortal Realms System, it would take many eras just to produce one such person.

Tianyi threw it into the back of his mind. Instead of creating a method for cultivators to become a divinity or immortal without the need to absorb quintessence, it was easier to create a method that allowed the user to connect to the Nine Heavens Universe and use the Nine Heavens Quintessence instead of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms Quintessence.

However, Tianyi didn’t think Grand Elder Xia or the other decision makers of the Immortal Court would agree to allow him to propagate the method. He didn’t even know if the Heavenly Dao would take retaliatory action if that happened. For one, the Heavenly Dao was reactionary. Only if something broke or went against the rules of the Three Thousand Immortal Realms System would it take action.

Tianyi was different. He could directly influence those immortals without any warning or restrictions. It was not that the Immortal Court did not trust Tianyi, but that was only for the current Tianyi. Who knew how Tianyi would change? In their eyes, he was still very immature and would change in the future. His current immaturity was also a risk.

Of course, Tianyi didn’t know all of this, but he could guess some parts of it. More importantly, if it succeeded, Tianyi would become the uncrowned ruler of the Immortal Court, and that gave him too much influence. No one being should have that much power over the Immortal Court.

While Tianyi continued to deduce a cultivation method that did not use the universe’s quintessence, the first saint who practiced the Universal Immortal Method underwent his Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation. Tianyi naturally had to be present, but like with Gan Xuehua’s heavenly tribulation, he stayed out of sight.

The power of the Immortal Ascension Heavenly Tribulation wasn’t as weak as the first one, nor was it as overpowering as to sentence the tribulation taker to certain doom. All in all, it was considered average.

Tianyi watched as the saint restructured his mortal body into an immortal body. Unlike the previous saints, his immortal body did not collapse, and he successfully became a true immortal. The other saints came forward to congratulate him. Their words were full of praise, but they could not hide the envious gazes or the longing look.

Back in the Nine Heavens Palace, Tianyi tapped his finger on the armrest while holding his chin with his other hand. ‘Instead of the hassle of forcing the cultivator to infuse the Nine Heavens Quintessence, why not just implant it into every lifeform?’

After some calculations, Tianyi shook his head. It wasn’t viable yet. He could already foresee that it would take a lot more energy to do so upon each soul’s reincarnation or formation. He just didn’t know how much yet because the Six Paths of Samsara weren’t yet formed.

“Should I remove the need for a heavenly tribulation?” Tianyi asked aloud.

The only reason he kept the heavenly tribulation for ascending any realm was because he was used to it. However, his idea of creating a cultivation without the need to use the universe’s quintessence made him reconsider. If he really developed such a way, why keep it at all?

Ultimately, Tianyi decided not to. If he took away the heavenly tribulation, the number of cultivators might drastically increase. Without the awe for heavenly tribulation, many people would become cultivators. The higher population of cultivators would increase the drain of resources.

Tianyi’s inner universe was seemingly infinite, but that didn’t mean he wanted to waste energy and resources.

Soon, all the saints Tianyi summoned became true immortals, and Tianyi perfected the Universal Immortal Method. He disseminated it to the cultivators below saints, causing an upsurge in the number of venerables turning into saints.

After a while, Tianyi noticed a problem. Before they became true immortals, the gravity of Sixth Heaven was too powerful and locked them onto the planet. Now that they become true immortals, they could fly into space. The gravity wasn’t originally this strong, but with Tianyi’s increasing power and comprehension, the nine heavens became more stable and powerful alongside him.

That wasn’t much of a problem, but the true immortals suddenly had the idea of invading other planets to look for resources and expand, even though Sixth Heaven wasn’t fully explored by them yet. The only thing stopping them was that the true immortals did not have enough qi to sustain their travel, causing their failure.

Were Tianyi not paying attention, one of the true immortals would have actually died from qi deprivation. It was probably one of the most shameful ways to die.

After realizing this problem, Tianyi set up a formation that covered the nine heavens and the surrounding area. He simply called it the Nine Heavens Guardian Formation. Although it was called a guardian formation, it didn’t have much defensive power. It was more of an accessory than anything of true usage. This was the core of the Nine Heavens Universe. Should any threat arise, Tianyi would mobilize the entire power of the universe and stop it. Compared to that, a protective formation was much weaker.

Tianyi only wanted to separate the nine heavens and prevent denizens of one heaven from easily reaching another. According to Tianyi’s calculation, the immortal would have to have the power of a sovereign to breach into another heaven unless their mastery of spacetime exceeded his by a large margin. Even if they could see the other heavens, they could only stare and not go there. It was akin to a monkey staring at the moon’s reflection on the water’s surface.

With that done, Tianyi became a bit aimless again. True, he was still elevating his comprehension of the Law of Spacetime. However, the successive projects he took on made him a bit mentally fatigued. He needed a bit of fun.

After a while, Tianyi decided to combine work and play, the best of both worlds. He was going to make more morphers!

Since he was focusing on the Law of Spacetime, he would make the Spacetime Morphers. To Tianyi’s annoyance, he couldn’t directly make one morpher containing the Law of Spacetime, so he had to split into two morphers, the gold space morpher and silver time morpher.

If compared to the Five Phases Rangers, the users of the two new morphers would be considered sixth rangers, or extra rangers.

“The Five Phases Rangers are known as the Red Crow Ranger, Black Turtle Ranger, Yellow Qilin Ranger, Green Dragon Ranger, and White Tiger Ranger. Should I call them the Gold Dragon Ranger and Silver Phoenix Ranger? But that would be using two dragons. I can’t use qilin because I already used that, too. Ugh,” Tianyi encountered his second dilemma, naming the users of the two new morphers.

“Forget it,” Tianyi said. He decided not to think too deeply about it and continued to work on the two morphers. He wanted the users to be able to combine them and exhibit the power of spacetime. The users of the morphers didn’t need to understand the Law of Spacetime or its two derivative laws, they needed to have excellent teamwork to the point of people suspecting they were the same person.

After he could no longer improve the Spacetime Morphers, Tianyi created another set of morphers, the Darklight Morphers. As their names suggested, Tianyi used the Law of Light and the Law of Darkness as the basis for their creation.

Its unique feature was to merge two people into one. The principle was based on the fact that light and darkness coexisted. Once couldn’t exist without the other. In a sense, light and darkness were one. Unless the two users had perfect teamwork, its power would weaken. However, the threshold for using the two morphers was much lower than the Spacetime Morpher.

Even if the two users were not in sync, one of them would just become more dominant. If the user of the light morpher was dominant, the merged ranger would be known as the Holy Lion Ranger. If the user of the dark morpher was dominant, then it would be the Shadow Wolf Ranger.

“Hmmm, holy and shadow doesn’t fit with the color theme, but I already used white and black for the White Tiger Ranger and Black Turtle Ranger. What other colors can I use except those two to represent light and darkness?” Tianyi asked. “Forget it. Let’s just release them. The Five Element Morphers were quite a hit. These should be the same, right?”
