Chapter 23: Chapter 23: General’s Mansion Eldest Lady VS Transmigrated Younger Sister (Part 22)
Ji Yu sighed quietly, knowing that Gu Shengyin was avoiding his question.
He looked at the woman in front of him who was clearly flustered yet striving to appear indifferent, like a frightened little animal, and felt a softness in his heart that prevented him from pressing her further.
He reached out and gently tousled Gu Shengyin’s hair.
“Not only do I know you’re called Ah Zhen, but I also know your mother is the Eldest Princess Wen Cheng, and your father is the War God General.”
Watching Gu Shengyin’s eyes widen, Ji Yu chuckled softly, “To put it another way, I am indeed your cousin.” @@novelbin@@
Gu Shengyin spoke to the system, “Why did he reveal his own identity? The Crown Prince is currently confined by the Emperor; if it’s discovered that he appeared outside, wouldn’t the consequences be severe?”
System: “Perhaps, he is certain that you, the host, would not speak out.”
Ji Yu watched as Gu Shengyin’s expression changed from confusion to shock. “You are…”
He covered Gu Shengyin’s mouth, “Shh, this name is not yet to be spoken. Ah Zhen, promise me, even if it’s your mother, do not tell her either.”
Gu Shengyin nodded.
Ji Yu removed his hand covering Gu Shengyin’s mouth, then suddenly asked, “Has the Crown Prince been looking for you recently?”
Gu Shengyin’s face turned ugly in an instant.
Indeed, the Crown Prince had sought out Gu Shengyin twice during this period. His insinuations were nothing more than cajoling her, claiming that she had always been the one in his heart, asking her to wait for him until he ascended the throne, at which point Gu Shengyin would become the Empress.
The Crown Prince, of course, was not content; he had always regarded Gu Shengyin as his own, and suddenly, his fiancée became his real cousin. How could the domineering Crown Prince accept this?
If it were any other teenage girl, perhaps she might have been moved by the sweet nothings of the Crown Prince, but unfortunately, the shell of Jiang Lingzhen housed Gu Shengyin. She had seen through the Crown Prince’s scumbag nature completely.
Ji Yu could tell from her expression that he was right.
His face darkened, and he suddenly grabbed Gu Shengyin’s hand, leaning closer.
Gu Shengyin’s eyes widened in an instant, and the sensation on her lips clearly told her what had happened.
Ji Yu felt the sensation was extraordinarily sweet.
Watching Gu Shengyin’s dazed expression, he chuckled lightly, his voice deep and enticing. Gu Shengyin felt the walls she had built around her heart beginning to waver.
Then, her vision went dark as Ji Yu covered her eyes with his hand.
Gu Shengyin sat dazedly in the carriage, recalling the event that had just occurred.
The kiss left her feeling dizzy; thereafter, Ji Yu seemed to have said a few words which she didn’t catch, before his subordinate informed him that it was time to return.
Then Ji Yu took her by the hand and led her back to the market where the servants of the Elder Princess Mansion were looking for her.
“Commandery Princess!” Hu Zhu spotted Gu Shengyin in the crowd, thrilled, and hurried over. Gu Shengyin turned around; the person who had been holding her hand had already disappeared.
Only his parting words echoed in her ears, “Ah Zhen, you must wait for me. I promise, within a year, I will personally come and formally ask your aunt for your hand in marriage.”
“System, what should I do? I might really be falling for him.” Gu Shengyin said helplessly, yet a smile hinted at the corners of her mouth.
The system paused for a moment, “Host, this system does not prohibit the host from developing extraneous feelings with humans in the Three Thousand Worlds.”
There was one thing it left unsaid.
No matter how deep or sweet a feeling, it cannot withstand the endless erosion of time.
What do you think?
