Chapter 62: Chapter 62: The Duke’s Heir VS The Underdog Female Supporting Character (Part 2)
Gu Shengyin lay on a bench in the White Rose Garden, receiving the memories conveyed by the system.
“So… my first priority is to stay alive?” She didn’t expect such a brutal start to this qualified world after several relatively mild ones.
The system’s unfluctuating voice sounded: “Yes, host. The system has detected that the body you occupy is thirteen years old, while the cannon fodder Eve was ten years old. At this time, she has already obtained the necklace that seals the Demon King and is on her way to the Royal Capital.”
Gu Shengyin was silent for a moment before asking, “System, if I confront the Demon King right now, what are my chances of defeating him?”
The system honestly answered: “None.”
Gu Shengyin: “…”
She was secretly considering whether to inform her godfather, His Grace the Archbishop, that Eve was carrying a necklace that sealed the Demon King.
The system coldly threw a wet blanket on her thoughts: “The host is not advised to do so. The original body has never left the Royal Capital, and you cannot explain how you would know this. If the host really does so, it is very likely you will be eradicated as a heretic alongside Eve.”
Gu Shengyin had no choice but to abandon this tempting idea.
“Your Highness, the Second Prince has come to see you,” a maid approached and woke the contemplative Gu Shengyin with her call. @@novelbin@@
Gu Shengyin gracefully stood up, nodded to the maid, and walked toward the drawing room.
“Veronica!” A young man’s voice called out to her from a distance.
Veronica walked unhurriedly over to the newcomer, performing a noble’s standard courtesy: “Your Royal Highness the Second Prince.”
The young man’s handsome brows immediately furrowed: “I’ve told you many times, Veronica, you don’t have to be so formal in front of me.”
Gu Shengyin remained composed: “Your Highness, one must never abandon courtesy.”
Prince Lifeman helplessly said, “Alright, Veronica, your father, His Grace the Duke, has taught you to be too rigid.”
Gu Shengyin became solemn: “Your Highness, please do not speak ill of my elder.”
Lifeman looked at the girl before him.
The thirteen-year-old girl stood quite tall, her figure starting to show the contours of a young woman. The heir of the White Rose Family had sunny, brilliantly golden curls, pure eyes like the purest green gems, and milky white skin inherited from her mother—the Duchess of White Rose, along with lips as delicate as rose petals.
Being able to hear his name from her lips was a treat in itself.
The Empire’s pearl, Lifeman didn’t know how many times he had heard other noblemen secretly discussing the Duke’s heir. She was as dazzling and enchanting as the family’s emblem—a white rose.
Unfortunately, Lifeman looked at Veronica’s serious, expressionless little face and sighed to himself. The Duke of White Rose was renowned throughout the Empire for his severity, and he had raised his only daughter to be the same: traditional, decorous, every move as textbook-perfect as it comes.
“What matter brings the Prince to me?” Gu Shengyin inquired.
Lifeman snapped back to reality, remembering the purpose of his visit.
“My mother’s purebred Siamese Cat gave birth to three kittens, and I’ve brought one for you. Do you like it?” Lifeman presented a delicately wrapped small basket as if offering a treasure.
Lifting the cloth from the basket, Gu Shengyin saw the creature inside.
What do you think?
