Chapter 73: Chapter 73: The Duke’s Heir VS The Underdog Female Supporting Character (Part 13)

Although the figure was extremely fast, it was only so compared to ordinary people; for Gu Shengyin, a Great Sword Master, it wasn’t a big deal.

However, it was this seemingly not-so-fast collision that Gu Shengyin unexpectedly failed to dodge.

She took two steps back and was steadied by Joanna, who stood behind her, while the cloak she used to cover her face fell off.

The figure, however, was knocked to the ground by this momentum.

Gu Shengyin’s expression changed: the figure was actually Eve Heather.

The Demon King had intentionally crashed into her. To anyone watching, that cloaked figure clearly belonged to an aristocrat’s family, and with Eve’s status, if she missed this opportunity, there was no telling when she might meet her again.

She had to figure it out on her own.

The instant Gu Shengyin’s cloak fell, the Demon King felt his heart lift.

As much as he detested those glaringly brilliant colors, he found the girl’s golden hair, as brilliant as gold itself, absolutely captivating.

And her beautiful green eyes, her delicately tender lips; they all resembled the type of appearance he loathed from the Light camp.

Yet on her, the Demon King felt only his heart stir.

I’ve fallen into Cupid’s trap, the Demon King thought.

He had lived for tens of thousands of years and the first time his heart stirred, it was for a seemingly insignificant human.

What excuse could he find to follow her? The Demon King frantically pondered, his eyes catching a glimpse of a Demon Beast charging towards them.

Gu Shengyin watched wide-eyed as this tiny figure stood in front of her, only to be impaled in the thigh by an armored rhinoceros.

She, slightly confused, widened her eyes: What’s this development?

The Demon King got his wish—the upbringing of the White Rose family wouldn’t allow Gu Shengyin to ignore the person who saved her life, so she took the injured Eve Heather back to the Duke’s mansion.

The Duchess, seeing her daughter return home cradling a blood-covered person, was nearly frightened out of her wits, until Gu Shengyin briefly explained what had happened, which calmed her down. @@novelbin@@

She was very grateful to her daughter’s savior, personally arranged for Eve to stay in the house for distinguished guests, and even summoned the most renowned physician from the imperial court to treat her.

The situation for Gu Shengyin, however, was not very good; she cast a vigilant glance at the unfamiliar man who suddenly appeared in her room.

“Who are you?” she asked coldly.

Gu Shengyin of course knew who he was, but she had never expected the Demon King to show up so quickly. Could it be that he intended to take action right inside the Duke’s mansion?

Her hand was already on the Barrier in her Space Ring—personally set up by her godfather, the Archbishop of the Carter Empire.

The Demon King pretended not to see her subtle move.

He just greedily watched Gu Shengyin, his eyes twinkling with a mischievous glint.

“Such a cute little girl, would you like to sign a contract with me?” he asked.

Gu Shengyin called out to the system in her mind, “This isn’t according to the planned plot at all. Isn’t Eve Heather supposed to be the one signing a contract with him?”

The system was also confused.

The Demon King noticed Gu Shengyin’s guardedness; he felt some irritation. In his heart, this little girl shouldn’t be showing him a face like this.

She should be looking at him with eyes full of trust and dependence, her gaze filled entirely with his image.

“You have no other choice but to sign a contract with me, or else, consider what might happen to everyone at the Duke of White Rose’s mansion,” he said.
