Chapter 80: Chapter 80: The Duke’s Heir VS The Underdog Female Supporting Character (Part 20)
Gu Shengyin looked at the man with unprecedented seriousness, “I have a lover, really.” @@novelbin@@
The Demon King did not believe her, as the person who had been by her side since she was thirteen had always been himself.
But her tone was so certain, and when she talked about her “lover,” even her eyes seemed to be shining.
The Demon King fell silent.
Just when Gu Shengyin thought he was about to give up, he suddenly asked, “Where is your lover?”
Gu Shengyin was speechless, and it took a while before she said, “I am looking for him.”
...
The Demon King recalled the scene he had witnessed upon entering the banquet hall earlier, Gu Shengyin and that man: “So you threw yourself into the arms of that stranger today because you thought he was your lover?”
Gu Shengyin nodded.
The Demon King was almost amused to anger, “You aren’t even sure what that person looks like, yet you’re so certain that he’s your lover?”
Gu Shengyin did not want to deal with him.
She couldn’t discuss this matter with anyone, and even if she did speak up, no one would believe such a strange thing as time travel.
The Demon King was relentless, “So what are you using to look for him? Let me guess, you mistook someone else for him, so it’s not by appearance. Then is it by scent? Or some mark on the body? Or perhaps some mysterious and indescribable special sensation?”
Gu Shengyin thought to herself that he had nearly guessed it correctly.
It was at that moment, an embrace filled with a cold fragrance enveloped her.
A domineering kiss landed on Gu Shengyin’s lips.
The Demon King’s kiss brooked no resistance, “Then feel it properly, whether your lover is me or not.”
Gu Shengyin pushed him away forcefully, “Enough! I’m certain that person isn’t you.”
With that said, she left without looking back.
“Your Excellency?” The Demon King turned around to find a face brimming with joy—it was Eve.
Eve had been doing well at the Duke’s mansion. Over the past three years, she had grown a lot and had become a pretty young girl.
“Is it really you?” Eve ran up to him, “Have you recovered?”
The Demon King shook his head, “Only temporarily.”
Eve looked at him, with many things she wanted to say but couldn’t utter a word.
“Did you see everything?” The Demon King suddenly asked.
Eve nodded. She had seen the princess push him away, but the princess had not seen that when she turned around to leave, the man had dropped his flippant smile, his expression filled with sorrow.
“Then you help me keep an eye on her,” the man suddenly said.
“What?” Eve was confused.
“I’ll be going away for a while. While I’m gone, don’t let any other men near her.”
Eve nodded.
Gu Shengyin had been feeling quite strange these days.
She always felt that something was missing by her side until Joanna mentioned the events of that day, which made her realize that the Demon King had been absent for several days.
Could he be sulking with her? Gu Shengyin imagined the scene of an ancient being who had lived for ten thousand years sulking, and couldn’t help but shiver.
Another two days passed, and Gu Shengyin could not hold back anymore. She decided to be the first to soften her stance.
However, no man appeared from the Space Ring.
Gu Shengyin, with her keen perception, realized something was wrong. With a thought to her spiritual power, she discovered there was no trace of the man in the Space Ring.
Had that man left quietly?
Gu Shengyin refused to believe that the man would leave, but as one day, ten days, half a month passed, she was certain that the Demon King had truly gone.
For some reason, Gu Shengyin, who should have felt relieved, felt unjustifiably aggrieved instead: He had left without even saying goodbye.
What do you think?
